This had me crying rivers .............. makoto grew on me and the scenes where she was slowly disappearing......was a heart breaker for me.......and her reasons for becoming human was even more sad
This one arc, out of every arc from clannad + as, air and angel beats, is the absolute best and most emotional arc ever made. Never before have i come across a show that touched me this much.
This scene was the first time I ever cried in an anime... Clannad was sad, Angel Beats was sad, but this is depressing... Couldn't stop thinking about this for a very long time...
saddest part when "Winter Fireworks" started playing at 0:43. Also make me remember Yuuichi and Makoto reading her favorite manga, and stated she wanted to marry Yuuichi
I just finished the route of makoto .... damm ... I can not stop crying ... ~. ~'m ashamed as a man .... but apparently at the end of the game a desire is allowed to Yuuichi ... thus comes the scene where Makoto lying in grass sleeping with peru-chan ... this is not an evidence that his wish was carried out?
It's just Yuichi's dream to see her playing in the spring again, she would say "What if spring comes ... And will it stay forever?" When Amano asks him what his wish is, Yuichi only imagines Makoto with Puro-chan in the spring ... But, she is the only character left dead Its late to answer that

First time i was goin to watch an anime exept for naruto and bleach i watched this i cried like a maniac and kanon is the reason i started to watch anime and fell almost in love with anime after watching this i remembered why
I've seen all kinds of deaths in anime. Nothing could prepare me for this. I watched this back in either 2007 or 2008 originally. Til this day I haven't seen anything more tragic.
some people like "unexpected turn of events". it also helps you to understand that in life such turn of events are to be expected. thats one way anime can relate to real life. it has many elements of the real world mixed with the supernatural and other things.
I just watched this, I cried. For like three episodes, we know she's going to die, they keep giving us hope, but she dies in the end :( It was so sad when he desperately tried to make her play with that bell.
@gamer4ever9999 Basically yes, she's the main MAIN heroine. Mai's story is amazing, I walked around feeling sad/weird/melancholic for days after I finished it. I haven't played Shuffle, only seen the anime. But I think I'd like Kanon more, Key, and especially Jun Maeda writes absurdly good/sad stories. (Jun Maeda wrote Mai's and Makoto's arcs, the two best in my opinion)
@MedicineMelanch0ly Well, it looks like Ayu's last wish was to Yuichi be happy. It includes everybody come back to normal life. For example, Nayuki's mother healed, Saori healed too. Not sure about Makoto, though, still haven't watched the whole anime, just read manga.
@gamer4ever9999 I don't know what her bad end would be, I never got it. Yeah, I should take my time and finish all of Kanon too, I've only played through Mai's and Makoto's entire routes. Right now I'm playing Little Busters (Also by Key, but not yet entirely translated.)
@MedicineMelanch0ly Because this isn't really how the original story with Makoto goes as this is originally a VN and you'd focus on one girls story. in the anime version they work their way through every story while focusing on the main/true ending of the game. Meaning Ayus ending. I'll not spoil the game, but if you like the anime you'll surely like the VN, and I recommend that you play it. ^^
Im so sad that makoto disapear like that i wished at leass her to return in fox form and be with him after but she just....disapear THIS IS SOOOOOOO SAD T-T...Well Cya ^-^...
@gamer4ever9999 Why Ayu's going off? Thats because you can only play one route at a time, so Ayu, being the main heroine will tell you that she's off when you go into an arc, at that time there is no turning back (Without getting a bad end). This applies for some other characters as well; Such as Makoto who disappears so that you can no longer pursue her route.
first she didnt die just turned back into a fox and second whatever magic turned her into a human (there actually is a human yuichi knew called makoto) is running out. her magic didnt last forever.
@glubritz *nod nod* yes the run up to it is how you know the thing i find funny though is that she is in his lap right next to him right, he is looking at her, one second she's there next she is gone and yet he looks around for her oh yeah she has magical teleportation powers err no dude she has gone, however if you watch the series you'll understand this but while she has gone in a way she is still there. but maybe she was never there to go, ok can't say more or it would ruin it for others XD
What's the story behind this scene? I haven't fallowed the series too much. Is this the same "Yuichi" as the previous Kannon series. What is the connection between Kannon and Kannon 2006 besides the name? Is it kinda set up like Tenchi Muyo/Tenchi Universe/Tenchi In Tokyo?
my heart is crying T^T to be honest this anime is better then " Air Tv" (havent seen but heard ending was not good). this is a really good anime in my opinion
@gamer4ever9999 Yup, but we'll see, maybe it gets really, really sad further into it. D: And just pointing out that it's no anime of Little Busters out there, even if I really hope to see one made. ^^
@gamer4ever9999 Wait... A Key-VN remade by atlus? if so I'm not following you. Or do you mean just an Atlus-game anime? Like Persona or Shin Megami Tensei? And so I'm just gonna go point out that there is an anime of Persona out there, even if it's not that good, in my opinion.
If she's dead, why does she turn up again at the end of this episode, and why does nobody talk about it? They talk about a Miracle happening, and then show this at the end: img714.imageshack.us/img714/710/theendf.jpg Unless her dead body just appeared after she disappeared, which is both unnerving and nonsensical. But they don't seem to mention what happened later on in the series. I hated how forced this felt yet how sad it made me :/
@gamer4ever9999 Hmm, actually it isn't, so far. I haven't played much and there is only two routes translated so far, and apparently it's a freakishly long game. So I'l anxious to see what happens. :3 I'm hoping for some tearjerking moments.
o really hate it when you trat to like something like romance anime that is almost always bout comedy and it has a happy pace and theme just to end it with a super sad death of one of the tow protagonist of the romance plot, there was alot of comedy leading up to this why couldn't there just be a happy slightly funny ending?
i hate all the main key heroins act like they downs syndrome. nagisa was a little better, but misuzu and makoto act like 3 year olds, I just cant feel sad.

I cried through this entire episode...
First time I ever cried watching an anime. Makoto was such a tragic character in much the same way as Mr. Freeze from Batman.
saddest part when "Winter Fireworks" started playing at 0:43. Also make me remember Yuuichi and Makoto reading her favorite manga, and stated she wanted to marry Yuuichi
This was so sad, it make me it cry, something very, very difficult. DAMN Jun Maeda, making big men cry since 1999.
i remember watching this...it was almost physically painful, but i never turned it off.
I srsly never thought that an anime would make a guy cry...
This made me cry over and over..
This was just so sad. Saddest "death" in my opinion in Kanon after Ayu
Ayu didn’t die
I just finished the route of makoto .... damm ... I've watched anohana ending
The daddy's arm scene from clannad
And now this
Why am I torturing myself ;__;
Dante Trixter and Air when Misuzu died in her mom’s arms
Oh Key you have created Angel Beats!, Clannad, and Kanon. All of which have caused me to cry. You trully are amazing.
Key didn't exactly create Angel Beats!...
the only scene in history to ever make me truly cry ;~;
First time i was goin to watch an anime exept for naruto and bleach i watched this i cried like a maniac and kanon is the reason i started to watch anime and fell almost in love with anime after watching this i remembered why
this is a sad moment... i admit i cried a lot ;( ... it really sucks when ur fav. character died... like makoto and misuzu(air) ...
I've seen all kinds of deaths in anime. Nothing could prepare me for this.
I watched this back in either 2007 or 2008 originally. Til this day I haven't seen anything more tragic.
Makoto was my favorite out of them all, I was crying when she 'died' ;__;
Saddest anime scene ever. And that's really something cause I've seen Jiraiya's death.
Jiraiya's death got nothing on this. Narutowise, Itachi's death was sadder IMO, but not even close to usual Key drama.
some people like "unexpected turn of events". it also helps you to understand that in life such turn of events are to be expected. thats one way anime can relate to real life. it has many elements of the real world mixed with the supernatural and other things.
Amen brother, just finished this Episode for the first time, and well...Now im goingto have trouble sleeping.
Well I can at least say thanks for trying to. Maybe I will find a way to look into it later when I have time.
This is so heart breaking to see Makoto die and to disappear, it really bring tears to my eyes..... :(
this part is so sad it makes me cry all the time
I can't help thinking this would have been even better with Mai's theme.... Still though saddest death I've seen in forever.
Oh yes this was made me so cry..
Damn you, Key! You made me cry again!
But it's alright... they're manly tears!
noooooooooooo makotoooo vuelvee T_____________T!!!!
I just watched this, I cried. For like three episodes, we know she's going to die, they keep giving us hope, but she dies in the end :( It was so sad when he desperately tried to make her play with that bell.
I love this so much better dubbed.
let me cry first... so pity makoto.... DX
It's complicated to explain but just role along with it.
I wonder how many times Makoto beat people up... OH SHOOT WRONG MAKOTO
Just finished this episode. All of my tears T_T
This girls is SO much better than uguu
omg i remember crying when i saw this ep
Cried like a little girl.
Didn’t Makoto find Yuuichi again for 5 minutes in episode 22?
Damn this always makes me teary T^T
Cómo lloré en esta parte T.T
Great scene from a great anime.
Well, at least this one had a way better/happier end than the other Key stories...
@gamer4ever9999 Basically yes, she's the main MAIN heroine.

this part made me cry so much. WHY DID MAKOTO HAVE TO DIE???
@splinterblade02 everytime I see this scene I need to cry especially when they are playing with the bells until she is no more (sob)
I can't see what I'm writing... I'm crying too much.
that was....SO SAAAAADDDD.
WAHHHHHH.
Sniff....sniff.
I am going to look this up....
Sniff.
@gamer4ever9999 I don't know what her bad end would be, I never got it.

It's a remix of "Winter Fireworks".

Me too. Key's Works just have that effect on people.
makoto ;-;
(this bit, as well as the white sheer material)

Can someone explain to me why Makoto has baby sounds in that scene? :(
feels...
I teared up during this part, it was that powerful and touchy, poor Makoto. DX
Well at the last ep theres a fussy image of a fox next to a tree stump
you re right
my heart is crying T^T to be honest this anime is better then " Air Tv" (havent seen but heard ending was not good). this is a really good anime in my opinion

i cry every time i see this part ..... my dad makes fun of me for it.
@Adephegia So she's his pet then?
Does anyone no the OST starting at around 00:43 ?
I finally noticed Makoto was in both Kanon and Kanon 2006. I was wondering why did Makoto die?
So he was in a different world before Makoto dissapeard?
...I couldn't feel for this scene at all, maybe it was because of the bad noises she mad and the poor character models..
@Light369 yeah but air was sad also!!!!!
Does anybody realise the similarities of Makoto's end and the ending of Greed of Man (Cantonese drama from the 90's)?
I love both, though, but... xD
@keykanonmania84 Doesnt that mean she's still alive? the fox? so the fox is dead her original body? and if she is dead... how about her spirit? :(
Of course. Why do you think everyones so upset?
It's a remake.
did they see each other again after this?
chanyeol's side hoe no sadly she died
chanyeol's side hoe in episode 22
:'(
@RevvyHere if you're a furry for liking makoto's character, I'll gladly accept that title.
well it is a world where fox's transform into humans afterall
@MetroBlades she didn't die?
what's wrong with makoto? why did she die? and is she like a kid in an adults body or something?
@FkingJCdentonrape Lol she is called Ayu not uguu

@cheerchik311 A magical fox
