Goggles are still very important to wear if your just practicing and not performing. Overexposure to saltwater and Chlorinated water can damage your eyes. Just a tip if you just mermaid recreationally, always wear goggles when practicing! 😊❤️
There are many events where professionals use goggles as a part of the safety and great performance. Goggles are swim safety gear not just for fashion or looks. If you feel your safety or particular needs like prescription vision needs the good rule is safety first. I have a Mer spotter / Merman with refractive amblyopia and we do events for others with said condition. I would not shame him or say he is lesser for protecting his eyes. Safety gear is not something I would discourage, I work to find ways to keep the magic real but the safety of all performers and guests in mind. I know Aqua MErmaid feels the same and they are ALL amazing MErfolk. SO much love to all , Fun Video. :)
I'm definitely a newbie, I can't open my eyes underwater! But I am going to try to make a pair of goggles look like some "mermaid glasses" because if I try to open my eyes underwater it really hurts 💔
My mom, who’s a safety freak, ALWAYS made me put my tail on on the edge of the pool, because she hated seeing me fall when hopping over, so glad she made that rule, because I’d have damaged my tail so bad if It wasn’t in place 😭
I want to be a professional mermaid so bad but there’s 1 problem I’m far sided and I have to wear contacts so I couldn’t do it without goggles! I love these videos so much ❤️
I'm afraid I'mma newbie I'm about to get my first tail, and I just wanted to say that because of you I wanna be a pro mermaid for my job. You really inspire me.
Since my 1st day, I have put my tail close to the pool. Hopping in water is very easy. In lakes and seas, I have always moved on my bum when the water is too shallow. Some professional mermaids wear goggles for trainings. I consider this is fine (although I never wear mine). You learned me something interesting. I have always been annoyed by hair coming on my face. Now I know what to do. According to what you said, I am expert/half-professional. And I still learn new things thanks to your videos ^^
I'm pretty much a pro, BUT I am super out of shape, plus I'm fat, so I can't dive very far without losing by breath, and I can't dive for long anyway, because my body fat makes me float.. :O
Luna Moon, I believe you are right in that the term is skinny fat, if you are talking about the type of being fat, where the fat goes on the organs, so that you don't get rounder.. :P And that can actually be more dangerous than being regular fat.. :O
Sapphire glacé I said that I'm fat, I never said that I'm ugly.. :P And tbh, the place where my weight bothers me the most is in the pool, 'cause fat floats, so I have a very hard time diving, but other than that, I don't mind being a big girl.. ^^
Well, I’m a newbie but I’m already aware of some things you should keep in mind as a mermaid, what and what not to do. I ordered my own self designed mermaid magic tail and it should arrive pretty soon. I‘ll make a video, promise! I‘ve been obsessed with mermaids for 20 Years now, I was six years old when I watched „Disney The little mermaid“ for the very first time and was instantly hooked. ✨✨✨🤩😍☺️
I am personally an intermediate. Because their are some skills that I’m professional at (like the kick (thanks to competitively swimming many years before mermaiding)) and others where I’m still on the newbie side (like breath control).
I did competitive swimming for seven years and now I do synchronized swimming and underwater rugby... I haven't thought about doing half of these things in years... they just aren't problems anymore... what a throwback.
Well not really but after a while you won’t have perfect 20-20 vision but honestly don’t worry unless you plan on staying under for long periods of time
Hello! I love the videos on this channel, they’ve been VERY helpful! I’m hopefully going to be getting a less costly tail from FinFun at the end of this month, and since it will be my VERY FIRST tail, I am very excited! I’ve been watching the Aqua Mermaid videos and practicing the best I can, and looking through your guy’s website, I fell in love with the silicone tails, and if everything goes well with the first one I’m getting from FinFun, I will DEFINITELY be saving up to buy one from Aqua Mermaid! Again, I wanted to thank Aqua Mermaid for all the helpful videos, and say I’m excited to join the community! 🐬♥️
Honestly I put it on in the pool/sea because then if there are children watching (there usually is) it doesn't ruin the magic of "wow! A mermaid!" // I ask someone else to carry it in for me discreetly under a towel or something of the sort so they don't see it going in either. //
The 1st time I ever went swimming in a monofin (the Linden) it only took a minute to get used to the dolphin kick, probably because I've been doing the dolphin kick as my ordinary swim technique for a year and I've always had my eyes open underwater. However I still struggle with getting water up my nose when I'm upside down.
I recommend getting a nose plug, you can get a “pinch” one where it goes on the outside of your nose and pinches it shut, or go with a silicone in nose one (the “pinch” one’s are cheaper, but the silicone one is less visible). You can find them on Amazon, choose what’s right for you and your budget!
I feel this can be controversial and deceiving. Should be titled "Mermaid Problems- Newbie vs Professional TRAITS or REPRESENTATIONS" Because this isn't exactly what sums up whether or not you're a professional mermaid verses a newbie. To be considered a professional mermaid, there's a lot more to it then how you move around in your tail or flip your hair. Pro mers should make a sustainable income from their mermaiding. They should have knowledge of current events and oceanic concerns, along with extensive knowledge of their habitat...the sea and all its creatures. A pro mer is more than someone who puts on a tail properly. They are advocates for a cause, they are a voice to be heard, they are educators and role models who inspire others. Pro mers are more than people who can correctly hold their breath and don't hold air in their cheeks. Pro mers are ones who hold on to their dreams and hold a passion for the ocean and protecting it and use mermaiding to gain attention to issues that need to be addressed. Pro mers are active in their communities and are proactive in doing their part to make this world a better place to live in. Not to mention the amount of training a pro invest. Experienced in many different swimming environments. Along with training in swimming, free diving and scuba to name a few. And other certifications and qualifications that can differentiate between a pro and a newbie. But fantastic video on how to swim around and act like a pro at the pool. Everyone needs to know how they should act. So this was very helpful and good advice for the newbies. So, just to clarify for those that may wonder the difference. And I'm not trying to cause drama... But this title is very misleading and I thought I could help enlighten and send some newbies down the right path to becoming a true professional mermaid. . I’m a pro, and I remember practicing ahead of time on the swimming movement, having my eyes open underwater, and breathing after ordering my tail so I’ll be prepared when I get it.
Hi! I am looking into getting a mermaid tail from here, and I wanted the orange one, but it's not there anymore. How can I get it? Also, I was looking into the purple tail, but there aren't very many pictures. What does it look like?
Hey, before I had a tail I practiced with out goggles and after I got my skin tail, I immediately after putting it on right by the pool instinctively, no way I started far away, I just felt like it’s easier for me not to rub my bottom of my tail butt on the ruff ground and rip the material and stuff,( safety first) first thing, ruining my tail, so I was ahead of the game…
I can’t open my eyes in a pool because the clorine will infect my eyes I have been to the hospital before in a mermaid tail because the clorine jnfected my eyes it was kind of awkward I can open them in the ocean but u don’t live my any beaches so can you make some tips to help me pls
I'm definitely a newbie but I don't really do anything except for where goggles because sadly most the only times I get to swim in my tail is in very highly chlorinated pools and I don't want to risk eye damage plus I have very sensitive eyes so...... ?
I do all of these things most of the time because but I want to be underwater for awhile and I’m not very good at breathing through my nose underwater while I’m doing tricks. I tried nose plugs put the ones that go over my nose fall off of my nose
I have a question. I have been swimming like a mermaid for years now, but only this year I got a tail for me and my kids. We are really excited and would love some advice for my kids. Also is there any type of eye wear one can get away with wearing and still look good as a mermaid? My son and I both have vision problems and can't see well in or out of the water with out glasses. Thanks
A pro, but I have some newbie traits too! I only own 1 fabric tail, and I forget to tilt my head, so I almost drown myself every time I surface, lol. I never wear goggles anyway, too.
Quick fix, I have a idea for my personal goggle problem, where I can NOT do ANYTHING UNDERWATER without them, so now I’m a steampunk mermaid, with modded goggles!
A long time ago a friend of mine taught me to do the dolphin kick, and how to do the basic swim of a mermaid. It was a lot of fun to learn, and I always swam like that to this day. That being said, I've yet to get my first tail, and I'm sure it's gonna feel totally different when I do, so I can't say that I'm anything more than a newbie still ^^;
The only newbie I do is goggles. My eyes are very sensitive when expose to any type of water or air when come up. My recommended to you is to used eye drop before and after. It will get uncomfortable first and I did get used to it little by little.
I don't have a tail yet, still working on my swimming skills, as I've not been swimming for a few years. I hope that I can eventually get a tail - not so easy for plus sized ladies
I am about to become a newbie. We just got our pool and I am about to order my first tail! I would love to get some new friends who share their experiences with me :)
I am newbie i haven't got mermaid school they are to far:( when i follow ur steps can i be profesional? My dad bring me a whaterproff camera i making videos and i can see what i doing wrong... can it be?
I once went to the pool with a tail and there was a kid who was doing it for the first time and put her tail straight on WITHOUT PRACTICING WITH JUST THE MONOFIN SHE PUT IT STRAIGHT ON
SIlly question from one who can't correctly hear the videos: What's the hostess' name? Because auto-subtitles render it a different way *every single time.*
So I guess I'm a newbie professional mix? I know the hair thing getting to the pool swimming in the pool but I use Google and sometimes I put my air in my checks
I only do 3 newbie things: Hair in face (Though while I was swimming in my tail I learned about the head up trick thing), The puffy cheeks and the goggles. Other than that I consider myself to be Skilled not necessary a Pro. Edit: I wish I had friends who have mermaid tails to swim with....it gets lonely and boring being the only mermaid in the pool though you do get the attention 😂
I'm like professional, even tho I don't have a mermaid tail, but those things that are not inkluded to tail, I already do them and those witch are, I would do them. And I can do the mermaid swim with out the tail :D (I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm from Finland)
i have never used my tail in a pool before... ive always swimmed in a lake near my house cuz its alot easier to swim with a big fat tail in the open than in a pool but for beginners they should start in a pool so that they dont drown.... the first biggest mistake i did was swim down without realizing how far down the tail would take me, so i did get a lil panicked when i was gonna swim upp but ive gotten alot better on knowing how far the tail will take me in one swoop and ive gotten alot better at holding my breath ever since i got the tail^^ what i love the most is swimming from the cliffs to the beach and just showing upp from the water and all the kids screaming: ITS A MERMAID xD (sorry for my bad spelling btw) :3
I’m a pro thou I don’t have a mermaid tail I just have flippers but I’ve been in the water since I was 9 months old and living in Hawaii does make it easier I’ve been swimming with my legs together for years even when I didn’t have a flipper and I do have goggles but I hardly use them
I'm technically a newbie. Only thing I do though is I use goggles in chlorine pools. I just tell the people that since I'm a saltwater mermaid, I can't see well in chorinated pools.
Goggles are still very important to wear if your just practicing and not performing. Overexposure to saltwater and Chlorinated water can damage your eyes.
Just a tip if you just mermaid recreationally, always wear goggles when practicing! 😊❤️

And if you don’t wash your eyes after

bellamorte76 she means if it’s at a party or something, of course you need goggles for safety at a long underwater show
bellamorte76 agree, safety should always come first.
The only newbie thing i do is the goggles. I have to swim with goggles because my eyes are sensitive.
For sensitive eyes I use a tear-gel before performing www.londondrugs.com/bausch-and-lomb-tear-gel---10g/L2412369.html
AquaMermaid that's super helpful *-* :)

anything else your would like to learn?
AquaMermaid Where can I get a mermaid tail?

Fuzzy Carrots Same!!!
Fuzzy Carrots that's sad. But don't worry. I can't either.
Goggles are important to wear... I’m a “pro” and I still wear goggles... my friend damaged her eyes when she would open them underwater too much
Dont worry, there are eye-drops for eyes, that help to open them in water!
That’s what I’m trying to do!
My mom, who’s a safety freak, ALWAYS made me put my tail on on the edge of the pool, because she hated seeing me fall when hopping over, so glad she made that rule, because I’d have damaged my tail so bad if It wasn’t in place 😭

Thanks for the tips I'll try them I'm a newbie two
Getting a tail soon learning all of these at once

I don't think the goggle thing should be included for newbies only.
Some people can't open their eyes underwater.
Plus, chlorine exists.

Quick fix, I have a idea for my personal goggle problem, where I can NOT do ANYTHING UNDERWATER without them, so now I’m a steampunk mermaid, with modded goggles!
A long time ago a friend of mine taught me to do the dolphin kick, and how to do the basic swim of a mermaid. It was a lot of fun to learn, and I always swam like that to this day.
That being said, I've yet to get my first tail, and I'm sure it's gonna feel totally different when I do, so I can't say that I'm anything more than a newbie still ^^;

Hi! I have a question, would it mess up you fabric fin fun tail if you added silicone scales or fluke estentions?🌊🧐🧜🏻♀️
Like add the little excess at the end and a thin coating (all silicone) to make it more realistic
I have about a two year experience with my fin fun tail in rio red and I’m loving it a lot!
Silicone is pretty heavy and may break a polyester fabric.
Is spandex the same way? Forgot to mention sorry(fabric type)
Kinda like how mermaid museline did hers but partial like an upgrade.
“Really sexy and elegant”
You sure about that? This is me we’re talking about 😂
I am newbie i haven't got mermaid school they are to far:( when i follow ur steps can i be profesional? My dad bring me a whaterproff camera i making videos and i can see what i doing wrong... can it be?
So I know mermaids need to open their eyes underwater but what do I do if I have incredibly sensitive eyes plus poor eyesight?
I do think most mermaids that are new do these things but I started last week and this didn't apply to me. Thank you for the video though. Xx
The mermaids from Pirates of the Caribbean follow all these tips😂 They always look stunning!

I'm a newbie and getting my first mermaid tail since my bf is getting me one ^~^ I'm not a strong swimmer but I am a fast learner
I don't have a mermaid tail, but I can do all the thing that a pro cam except keeping the air in your lungs and keeping your eyes open underwater
Even though you eyes burns after swimming um get used to it will be awesome it won't burn
And a professional at mermaid swimming
I'm like professional, even tho I don't have a mermaid tail, but those things that are not inkluded to tail, I already do them and those witch are, I would do them. And I can do the mermaid swim with out the tail :D

I am in the middle of a newbie and a bro I know what to do and how to do it but I’m not that good at it
I can open my eyes under water but after, I’d i have any contact with any fresh water it will burn so much
Love the video! I like my goggles, but the other stuff I can do 😊💖
Never had the gogels or hair problem tho like your videos
Wouldn't opening ur eyes in chlorine filled water damage eyesight?
Legit only watching this for animation. But now I'm kinda interested 😂
i have never used my tail in a pool before... ive always swimmed in a lake near my house cuz its alot easier to swim with a big fat tail in the open than in a pool but for beginners they should start in a pool so that they dont drown.... the first biggest mistake i did was swim down without realizing how far down the tail would take me, so i did get a lil panicked when i was gonna swim upp but ive gotten alot better on knowing how far the tail will take me in one swoop and ive gotten alot better at holding my breath ever since i got the tail^^ what i love the most is swimming from the cliffs to the beach and just showing upp from the water and all the kids screaming: ITS A MERMAID xD (sorry for my bad spelling btw) :3
I would love to be a mermaid, but I get pretty sensitive without nose plugs.
I’m happy to say though, I can open my eyes like a professional 👌🏻😉
I’m not even a mermaid yet and apparently I’m already a pro! Yay
So cute and funny!
funny thing, when I got my first mermaid tail I swam with a near perfect dolphin kick
Mermaiding for a while here, got to have goggles for those pools with dirty water.
I mastered all of these, but I’m still not a “professional” mermaid, I’m just an experienced mermaid
When I started mermaiding, I never had these problems. Odd.
besides the hair problem im think im good :) and ive never even owned a tail (i have swam with a mono though)
Great job you earned a subscriber!
I’m a pro thou I don’t have a mermaid tail I just have flippers but I’ve been in the water since I was 9 months old and living in Hawaii does make it easier I’ve been swimming with my legs together for years even when I didn’t have a flipper and I do have goggles but I hardly use them
I swim exactly like a mermaid like how you showed it but i still cant move... I think my monofin's just cheap... 😭
Merial: Are u a newbie or are u a professional?
Me: I'm a potato
I’m a new to this mermaid thing and I swim like a pro😂
Again, im a newbie and i dont keep my air in my cheeks , i keep it in my neck/lungs
Professional mermaid ! Wow I didn't know that's what newbies did I just got it naturally. Lol
Maybe I can't hold my breath for long because I hold my air in my mouth omg, it ain't even in my lungs lol
I'm technically a newbie. Only thing I do though is I use goggles in chlorine pools. I just tell the people that since I'm a saltwater mermaid, I can't see well in chorinated pools.
