A year later I am still coming back to this... the more I listen/watch the better it gets. The rises and falls in the music, the pauses, are all executed flawlessly. The phrase "less is more" comes to mind. Not to mention the filming and lighting! You are all amazing.

I love how this song has a different mood than the original. The original sounds conclusive and apologetic. But this sounds bitter and sorrowful. Especially at the minor chords at "your words in my head...". Also, I think it would suit this mood better if the lyric went "Your words in my head ARE knives in my heart"; does anyone know a cover in which the singer does this?

The chord patterns are the same, the song’s just been transposed to better suit his vocal range... also because of the stripped back nature of the instrumentation in this cover you hear the poignancy in the minor chords a bit better than in the original.

I don't know how to explain but the beat of the drums behind was so intense that gave me chills. The sorrow and emotion in his voice, so light in one time and so deep in other was absolutely stunning.

If someone looks good, then it's photoshop. I someone sounds good, then it's autotune. Can anything ever be original? Can everyone just stop judging unless you're 100% sure? It does sound slightly autotuned but you can't be sure and you can't just judge like that.

SwiftLilEagles Yes, the echo is from Reverb. The reverb was tweaked with a longer "pre-delay" setting that's why it gives a certain echo feeling. The vocals also are not auto-tuned. I work in a studio, so you can trust me.
costinvaly1 I know there's no autotune. You can hear when there's autotune, and I couldn't hear it in this one
as guy using a variety of voice editing i can tell that the higher notes have been autotuned, the chorus especially plus reverb

I finally got around to listening to the original song after having been in love with this for a few months. My disappointment was big. Austin sings this song with so much emotion and so much pain. He makes the lyrics come to life in a way the original isn't even close to. This is perfection and I can only bow down in the dust because of Austin's wonderful cover.
