Hehe I love how you even got a dinosaur shirt on, just perfect! I have bred brine shrimp and I think it would be so fun to breed dinoflagellates! As always your content is always worth watching 😁
That wasn't even planned 🙈😂 Made me chuckle whilst editing though lol. Aww nice, yeah and the great thing abotu dinos is they just kind of keep duplicating, its amazing.
@@leopardgeckotalk 😄 🤣 well I found it really funny! Yes it's quite amazing how they can duplicate so fast, same as brine shrimp. Nature is awesome in that way. I'm thinking of buying your merch and book about leopard geckos soon because I really want to give my two Leo's the bestest life. My profile picture is of my boy scooter. Thanks for all the content you give and advice as well as inspiration ❤
I'm heading toward mid-forties, and I love your RUclips channel. I live my leopard gecko love, vicariously through you. This is something I've seen on the back of kid's magazines (like sea monkeys) for years and I love this. Thank you for sharing this.
ah yeah mine kept duplicating so I had to keep putting them in more tanks, I had a room full of dinos, it was amazing, but yeah eventually they stopped glowing :'(
Holy hell, this was a blast from the past, I got this in my yt recommended today. I had watched the original Dinopet series when it came out, what, 5 years ago? I'm so glad I have been brought back to your channel with this video, and I will definitely be hanging around!
This is precisely the kind of weird, science-y, marine, cool, conversation starting, plant best friends that I am here for. Thank you for sharing I’m buying one ASAP. Also hi I’m one of your American friends I have a leopard gecko named Atlas that is close to two years old. He is well cared for and happy thanks to your help.
My son has autism, and for 367 days we watched season 4 episode 20 of SpongeBob. He just heard your video and the moment you said plankton I KNEW we were about to purchase bioluminescence plankton. He's obsessed with the ocean and the "diamond shore" which is really cool if you look it up! The entire island glows with the plankton at night 😊 Hopefully you post updates 😂😝
Side note from my amazing kiddo and his fascinating mind. He says "mommy tell her that they are very important and are alive so they can be called pets! They are the most ancient evidence of life on earth, and without them the sea would get sick and even animals and the air we breathe!" So deep but love his brain.
That would be cool, I don't really have anything like that though 🥺 But I've seen some people do it on massive speakers and the vibrations from the music makes them glow.
This is so cool!! At first, I was like, what??! 🙈🙊 But then when I saw them glow and zoomed in on them, it was really cool to see them! Nature eh! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!!
Those are fantastic!! I would totally be watching them if I had a microscope. You could make a mini-series Days of Our Plankton... or Sponge Flagellates 😅😍
That was fascinating, I love bioluminescence! I had a question about the Custom reptile habitats backgrounds you use for your leopard geckos-- are the backgrounds easy to clean? I know going bioactive is the best way to handle the cleaning situation, but I'm not quite ready for that yet. I am planning to go naturalistic and was curious if the backgrounds could be cleaned with soap+water/steam cleaner?
Thanks :D Yeah so if you check out universal rocks on youtube, I'm sure there's a video of the guy literally pressure spraying the rock without it doing any damage to the background. Of course this isn't practical if you've got your gecko in there and you want to remove some poop. Thankfully the geckos have yet to poop on the background so I haven't needed to give in a good scrub - however Minnie is notorious for pooping on backgrounds, so once she moves in I can give you a better answer. But generally they're meant to be very good at taking quite a bit of force without being damaged.
I saw your video and was going to buy them and I thought they were so cool I was going to get some but the company had went out of business before I did😢I might have to buy these my wallet is dying lol. And yes I was also fascinated but the microscope
Hi^^ I love your channel, leopard gecko are my fave animal (I currently own two!) I do have a question about them: I keep my adult male gecko on eco earth (dry) I do make sure he doesn’t eat it, if he does I will move him to paper towel. But is eco earth ok for him? He seems to like it, he digs in it a lot! (Also I did leave a comment on the past when I owned 5 geckos, I did separate the baby’s and rehomed 2 of the baby’s and my other adult! My other baby lives alone in a 10gal currently with paper towel bedding!)
12 megapixels isnt bad, a common Sony a7 has 24 and thats more than enough as it is. As for your long exposures, unfortunately since motion is involved to get them to glow, long exposures are actually a bad Idea. What you should do is set a timer, use a lens with a wide aperature, and use the fastest shutter speed you can while allowing enough light to let the photo show up. BUT if youre using a digital camera that allows a wide range of ISO, you can crank that and have it turn out regardless of your shutter speed, although it might look a lil weird.
Yeah it was probably more like 2 megapixels haha I think that's what I was meant to say. Yeah I kind of wanted to get the blur so it's okay, just wanted to show the glow a bit better as it's so bright in real life lol
This isn’t related to any of this but my leopard gecko hasn’t been active AT ALL,and I don’t know if he’s eating or not…he’s like a juvenile/adult,and it’s scaring me cause he doesn’t open his eyes much and doesn’t come out hardly and he never gets all his shed off so I have to help…what do I do
It’d be a good idea to get him checked out at an exotic vet ASAP. What’s his setup? What’re his temps and humidity, and how are they being measured (analog or digital gauges)?
How can you not know if it’s eating? Put prey in front, if they don’t go for it they’re not eating. Don’t just leave the prey insects loose in the enclosure. You can get an escape-proof bowl for small meal worms if you want to leave prey in the enclosure, and then it would be obvious if it’s getting eaten or not.
I need some help. My 9 months old gecko has gotten a few days ago one of his toes in a purple-black color, and i inspected it and did everything i thought i could do to fix it, and i woke up and saw that his toe tip fell off, with only the bone remaining. I’ve been worried and embarrassed that i was not able to fix it in time and im feeling like a shitbag for this. I need help ASAP to prevent anything else from happening, can i have some tips?
Quarantine him on paper towel until his toe heals and keep it clean. Prevent future stuck shed by providing a humid hide and keeping the enclosure’s humidity between 35-65%, measured by a digital hygrometer.
Hiya! I recently bought myself a 1 month old albino leopard gecko, puff! You are literally the one who convinced me to get him. He is currently in a ten gallon tank, is that okay until he gets older? If so how old until I need to move him into a twenty? He is currently two months old on a reptile carpet with 4 hides. One cold, one warm, one humid (with spagnum moss) , and one paper towel roll behind all of them so the temp varies to we’re he goes in the roll. He’s got a healthy chunky tail and he eats baby crickets, mealworms, and occasionally wax worms. Basically I’m just wondering if I’m doing okay with baby gecko care? Edit: yes I use calcium powder and reptile vitamins! And puff is actually my pfp on RUclips!
Carpet isn’t a good substrate, it harbours bacteria and tends to get caught on their teeth and claws. New geckos should be quarantined on paper towel for at least six weeks to monitor their health. After, a suitable loose substrate (a soil/playsand or soil/sand/clay mix) is best for digging enrichment. 10 gallons can be ok for a baby but it can be difficult to achieve a proper temperature gradient. A 40 gallon or bigger would be ideal for when he’s an adult. He can be upgraded at any time, as long as there’s enough clutter babies do fine in larger enclosures. What heat source are you using? What’s the basking spot temperature and how is it being measured (analog, digital, or temperature gun)?
Hi :) You know a lot about crickets. I bought 30 crickets today. When came home 10 were dead. They had eaten at each other. they were very hungry and thirsty. and I saw that one ate holes in the stomach of the one. Is it dangerous to give leosas crickets that are half dead ??

Eco earth isn’t a great substrate because it’s unnatural, dusty when dry, hard on their joints, etc. A soil/playsand or soil/sand/clay mix is ideal.
So they only work at night? Why???
