Biggest regret ever never going to see the hillbillies, although I've seen knopfler 14 times there was no guitarist better than him 80's and 90's, the man was a solo genius, the talent on this stage was just amazing GREAT STUFF 👴🏼 🎸
Was luck enough to see them twice [May 10th and 11th 1990 - Kentish Town in London]. Fantastic fun gigs - loads of banter amongst the band and audience. Mark especially loving playing the smaller venue following the massive Dire Straits tours - no pressure and just having loads of fun!
Mark Knopfler the greatest most talented guitarist, master of rhythm and powerful lyrics makes any rag tag band sound amazing. Thank the almighty for handing this man the Kinnaram
This is not a ragtag band. These are all accomplished musicians with MK with the king of the pedal steel in PF and a British blues legend in Steve Phillips.
Space country....don't know what else to call it. And while others have already mentioned this, it bears repeating...Croker's banjo is awesome, and sets this rendition apart from the DS version. I used to wish knopfler had recorded more material with DS, but in my older age I find myself wishing he had done more than one album with the hillbillies.
I can never quite understand why he doesn't do something again with the Hillbillies - I think it would fit in with the music he produces nowadays fantastically! I properly discovered the Hillbillies after going to the first of the charity gigs at The Shepherd's Bush Empire in '02 (the last time they were on stage I believe) and I've been coming back to the album on a regular basis ever since!
I watched a lot of Mark's concerts and none of them had the song "When it comes to you". This is the only video with this song. I was very surprised by this. This is one of my favorite songs. In the video, Mark is 40 years old. From his tired eyes, you can see that he is already damn tired of all this show business.
Mark is the best. Who else do you know that makes 2 amazing versions of a song, with 2 different groups. And on top of that calls up John Anderson and says hey your should cover this song!!!!!
Exactly. Almost every tour and performances he has done, have featured different changes and sounds to his tracks, without them ever being made worse. They actually sometime become way better!
437 to 1. Always a complainer among people who know good music. The guitar work is fantastic. Especially brilliant slide guitar. Paul Franklin is awesome.
If we can't get along we oughtta be apart And I'm wondering where'd you get that cold, cold heart Set me free - sign my release I'm tired of being the villain of the piece You been givin' me a bad time Tell me what'd I do How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you Sayin' things that you didn't have to How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you You only get one life - this I know I wanna get my licks in now before I go The fire of love is dead and cold I gotta satisfy the hunger in my soul And you been givin' me a bad time Tell me what'd I do How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you Sayin' things that you didn't have to How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you If we can't get along we oughtta be apart And I'm wondering where'd you get that cold, cold heart Set me free - sign my release I'm tired of being the villain of the piece You been givin' me a bad time Tell me what'd I do How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you Sayin' things that you didn't have to How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you How come I always get a hard time Honey when it comes to you
Unique version of When It Comes To You. Meaningful lyrics and the right sound together makes a song great. For a short while I wished Mark would continue with The Notting Hillbillies whom I was aware with this recording. Together they sound great but I guess Mark had to move on.
Saw them at the Colston Hall in Bristol around this time. MK was just huge back then, so it was great to see him at a small venue. They did 3 or 4 DS numbers if I recall.
This song really holds me !!! She's lovely!!! Everyone is wonderful, Marko's voice and the others accompanying me, I have no words how much this song keeps me going and doesn't let me go on ... .....💫🎸🎤🎶💫🤦♀️👋👋👋
anything with his touch is a master piece to me. he is my perfect guitarist and musician and this comes from a classical guitar player who is annoyingly stingy in giving cmplmnt.
Soooooo lucky to be hearing this 😊 always been a fan of Dire Straits and Mr. Mark Knopfler, but missed this 🤔🙄 just looooove it ❤ anyone 2024?
I have been listening to "When it Comes to You" for years. Hillbillies version is the best. Thank you Mark Knopfler.
Brendan Croker on the banjo just makes it so much better!
Paul Franklin the absolute master of the steel guitar!
Oui il nous a fait rêver avec sa guitare et même au groupe dire straits il a apporté le son parfait à la musique du groupe
Very Very Best.
Paul Franklin ist simply one of the best
Man, that groove !!

The NHBillies were actually Knopfler’s real band. Dire Straits was just a side project 😂
I swear this is the coolest song in the world! Now i wanna go in an bar,eat an steak, drink some beer and listen to this title again.
Excelência
Best ever version of this song
magique fabuleux je viens de le découvrire sur you tube j'adore

Long Live Mark Knopfler

I’ve been trying to dig for the song “how long” off of on every street as well. Pauls touch to that song is so beautiful.
There's an audio version of it on the new Dire Straits live box set.
@@progmeup really I bought the lp box set.
Really like the London rainbow set. Super good live set
Love the Banjo in this version :-)
This is SOOOO nice ! The man with the banjo's 2nd voice beneath Knophler's on the chorus is pure gold !
Wow, I didn’t even notice the banjo. Forgive me
Brendan Croker 1953-2023. Listen to his "Feel Like Goin' Home".
just perfect ...
Sending love and best wishes from🇩🇪
Thanks @Hans Wolff - all the best to you and kind regards from PL
reminds me JJC
It's the same old blues,
RIP JJC
Both of them all time greats. JJ was highly underrated.
The groove that moves and soothes the soul - makes it whole.
Dig and be dug.
Mark is the best. Who else do you know that makes 2 amazing versions of a song, with 2 different groups. And on top of that calls up John Anderson and says hey your should cover this song!!!!!
The great thing about Marks live versions of his DS work and his MK songs he creates new ways of doing so they don't become stereotyped.
Exactly. Almost every tour and performances he has done, have featured different changes and sounds to his tracks, without them ever being made worse. They actually sometime become way better!
I feel very lucky to listen to this music. Listening to this music reminds me of my childhood. This is the main reason why i m here.
Marks solo priceless as ever! 💋
Meaningful...🎶
That's Mark playing the only way he knows: magnificently.
It is so nice. Im happy to listen this. It the best. Best wishes mirko from remblinghausen germany
Mark Knopfler is supreme his plays is out of this world ....and the banjo on this song is just perfect along with Pedal steel

Paul Franklin's solo must be one of the top music performances on youtube
437 to 1. Always a complainer among people who know good music. The guitar work is fantastic. Especially brilliant slide guitar. Paul Franklin is awesome.

If we can't get along we oughtta be apart
And I'm wondering where'd you get that cold, cold heart
Set me free - sign my release
I'm tired of being the villain of the piece
You been givin' me a bad time
Tell me what'd I do
How come I always get a hard time
Honey when it comes to you
Sayin' things that you didn't have to
How come I always get a hard time
Honey when it comes to you
You only get one life - this I know
I wanna get my licks in now before I go
The fire of love is dead and cold
I gotta satisfy the hunger in my soul
And you been givin' me a bad time
Tell me what'd I do
How come I always get a hard time
Honey when it comes to you
Sayin' things that you didn't have to
How come I always get a hard time
Honey when it comes to you
If we can't get along we oughtta be apart
And I'm wondering where'd you get that cold, cold heart
Set me free - sign my release

Unique version of When It Comes To You.
Meaningful lyrics and the right sound together makes a song great. For a short while I wished Mark would continue with The Notting Hillbillies whom I was aware with this recording. Together they sound great but I guess Mark had to move on.

Thank you so much for uploading this video. This song is absolutely awesome -MK & NHB/DS are legends and this is rock history which must not be lost!
Saw them at the Colston Hall in Bristol around this time. MK was just huge back then, so it was great to see him at a small venue. They did 3 or 4 DS numbers if I recall.

Saw them play this in around 1989 or 90 IIRC. It then made its way onto On Every Street in 1991.

Pedal steel guitar - Paul Franklin
Banjo - Brendan Croker
National Style O - Steve Philips
Surreal.
The best cover of this song is John Anderson's on his Anthology album. Vern Pilder does an amazing job on the lead guitar. Check it out.
Good tour shows!!
Just found this. Whoa.
Sweet - NH rendition, nice surprise

Amazing how Knopfler just kept using the same few guitars!
Actually I prefer this to the On Every Street version love Brendan Croker's banjo on this
Is this concert available on dvd? I've seen a few songs that look like they're from the same performance - would be great to own it!
Iiiiiinteresting..

Так просто, но так сложно и весело)
