Fantastic job by the whole presentation team on this video and superbly anchored by Scott. Microsoft just keeps going from strength to strength and as someone who has been using MS products since they 1st started it's amazing to see the progression into what we have today. Congratulations to everyone who has worked on VS 2022. You can be very proud on what you have achieved.
We do have Edit and Continue years ago, then it stopped working due to technical issues. I'm so glad we have something better now. Hot Reload Everything!
The contrast with the Windows 11 "put you on the center" presentation is striking. I don't know how many rehearsal sessions you guys had, but the final run felt legit fun.
Her answer can be translated to... NO. When I saw this I couldn't help but think back to school and the teacher would let me finish my excuse then say, "Did you, or did you not do the assignment, yes or no?"
@@oldcountryman2795 I would like to note that there are 2 paid tiers too. I think this might just be an Enterprise tier feature, and not just a Professional tier one.
Wow, I actually totally missed that. I heard the question and didn't hear a negative response, so I just assumed that it was the case. This is why you don't multitask :P
Few years ago, for me it was a pain to use Visual Studio, but I have to say that the 2019 release was great and it looks like 2022 is not going to disappoint. Good to see that Microsoft is moving more into open source integration and making the community edition available for open source projects :+1
Great job by VS teams, Hot reload , improved performance on top of that the CPU utilization tasks and WSL2, wish all features are available for all versions :)
22:38 Uh, yeah, he didn't ask about platforms. He ASKED if we have to buy the Professional or Enterprise editions of VS to get the features you have demoed. She completely avoided the question.
@Nathaniel Walker VS is poor software, so the only thing that they can do well is advertising, because you can throw money for advertising and it will have success.
In today’s culture, people are so afraid or accustomed to not making a negative point at all. It’s despicable and unsettling to me. It wasn’t like this before approximately 2006. If you go back and watch old interviews or what have you, you’ll see how people were much more genuine and honest and not afraid of negativity back then. I think it’s a sign of the times today that people are so afraid because there is so much political tension. It makes me long to live in an earlier time period.
To me its more interesting to expect things are *free by default*. This certainly steam boils the general narrative of “developers” can work for free. That those two things are the same thing is a fallacy some “programmers” simply don’t seem to understand.
@@Ratchet2022 Yeah, I'll never understand that. I suppose that's why people are getting more offended at things I say, because I'm blunt and honest, good or bad. With me, you'll never have to wonder. 😉
The irony of you not having a clue about what machine learning is...it is literally all about adapting to your code and not accepting the default code completions.
As long as the final decision lays in the developers hands, things are as they should, the computer helps you a lot, but it does not take away your own. That point is probably gonna be the most important debate of future.

Why is it every time a new version is released it is NEVER ready to support SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS projects right out of the box? It's always weeks to months until we have extensions to support them. That is becoming unacceptable!
SSIS is...well, a nightmare from a tooling standpoint. My experience is that C# is significantly faster than SSIS at many tasks. There are also a bunch of other BI tools, like Pentaho Data Integration
Yes, as I mentioned in my own post I found that out myself this morning. Given that SQL Server is mission critical for a lot of businesses you can't chop and change tools just because MS is tardy with releases.
"As I mentioned in my own post", which has since been deleted, it seems. Perhaps I'd prefer to be treated as "paying customer" rather than the insincere drivel of being addressed as "friend".
