- I show you how to to fix a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 phone (same for Z Flip 4) that has a black screen but you know the phone is on. In other words your screen just won't turn on but you can feel your phone ring, vibrate, maybe the cover windows is visible, etc. If this worked plz LIKE and comment which step worked for you. absolutely bonkers to me that this is still an issue 2 years later, but here we are :'). the second method (spamming the power button, plugging it in, hard restart) worked for me. thank you for saving me time and money!!
I read that it's supposed caused by the placement of the sensor that tells the phone it's open. Supposedly it's locates under the crease and it can lead to the phone thinking it's closed so the screen will go off yet you can still interact with it. Whether the flip 5 and flip 6 have the sensor in the same spot I can't say.
Though I have the flip 3 and went to the fold 4 and currently have the fold 5. My flip 3 I only keep since it's the thom browne edition but it wasn't U would have traded it in

Soooo Samsung told me it would cost close to $100 to fix my Galaxy Flip (first generation). After smacking it, while closed, a few times I fixed it for free!! Thank you so much for saving me $100 I did not have to spend on something like this
I just had this issue with my flip 3, I tried all of these methods, and sadly they didn't seem to work. But I left the phone at full charge in my car which sat in there for 24h under -5°c. Brought it inside and hit the power button twice and it turned on just fine. I've also found that if you just don't fold it, it helps with the issue.
I want to thank you! After dropping my phone, my screen went black for a whole day. Your video was the only one that made my Galaxy fold 3 work after massaging it, heard the click and restarted it. My front screen is up and running now. Thank you.
It's crazy having to "massage" a $1,000 phone just to get the screen working. Obviously it's a faulty design with bad connectors which should never be happening. smh
Don't normally comment on videos but have to say my screen was black for 2 days. Tried everything multiple times except the freezer. 7mins in the freezer fixed it! Shame I've already got a new phone in that time but at least I can restore my things.

Wtff! z flip 3 didn't work for a week. Tried everything you said but doesn't work. last option 15 min in the freezer. really thought this didn't work that way. Did a soft reset again and screen came on. thank you.

I’ve only had mine for 3 weeks and it went black on me tonight, I’m taking it back to Verizon tomorrow, I was able to restart it using your first method, thanks a lot. I’m not doing all of that smacking and banging on my phone in order for it to be serviceable. I may have to consider returning it if they can’t tell me why this happened all of a sudden and i haven’t dropped or damaged this phone in any type of way. Again thank you very much

It's literally the sensors that detect the open and close, I can leave my phone open and never have a problem but as soon as I close it and open again it's just black, if I wiggle the phone at the crease it usually works but what's the point of having a folding phone if you can't use it!

The tapping method worked for me. It was switching the display off when I was opening the phone completely and now it seems to be working fine after the tapping. Samsung support suggested me to buy a new one. You just saved me $900. Thanks! :-)

This is not working for me and when I sent it to Samsung, they said I needed to replace the LED light. They said it was because I dropped it and I never dropped it and they wanted 300 to fix it. Could you assist please?

Oh, wow! I have a Z Fold 3 and lost my front screen. I watched a couple of vids then ran across this one. Holding the power and volume buttons down for 15 seconds, and then switching to the up volume while still holding the power button until the built in diagnostic window options opened up, did the trick. I deleted the Partition Cache as you suggested after running the display diagnostic option which failed with an 'Error'. I didn't think it worked until I folded the phone while on a call, and voilà, up came the screen! Thank you so much! Save me a run to U Break We Fix.

Hi there, my phone turns black screen each time I unflip it, but after like couple of attempts it starts working like normal. However when I flip it to close and then unflip it the same issue occurs. Recently on 5th Aug'24, I got software update. I tried all you methods but the issue is still there. If I keep my phone unflipped and use it normally locking and tapping, it responds perfectly.

Had mine for a month, woke up and the phone wouldn't open after unfolding it, when it did it had white lines and would give me a black screen. I hope the 1st method works. Nice to see your still making these videos for the new Samsungs🤙

Update on my comment* got the phone fixed through warranty. So I sold the phone and let someone else deal with it. First and last time I get one lol I'll wait till apple release a flip phone

This is the exact issue I'm looking a video for, it started doing this recently but the phone works absolutely fine but when i open it, it's fine but when it completely opens it black screens with white flashing lights ,have no idea what's wrong

I rubbed it, tapped it, slapped it with no luck! Put it in the freezer.. RIP Z Flip! So sad as I have always been a Samsung fan..
P.S. If you are a T-Mobile subscriber in CA, do not tap the power button many times (as suggested in this vid) as it will call 911 automatically & if you can't see or touch the screen to respond, the police show up at your door! Then you have to explain what occurred listed above.....

when mine folds for a few senconds and open it, it doesnt show the screen but closing and opening again does, and mine randomly gets the black screen of death sometimes

my cover screen keeps going dark and if i press hard on it, it goes back to normal but if i close the phone it messes it up again and i have to smack it again. any permanent fix or do i send for a replacement?

Hey thanks . The first step worked . Strange , It was opened and i was listening to spotify in my car and it just stopped working . i thought the battery was dead . It's only a month old .it's a great phone, but i hope it's not a hint of what to expect in the future. I'd be interested in knowing if it's a recurring problem from anyone with more experience with the phone.

I've had mine since release and until 2 days ago it worked perfectly fine, and i think the issue occured when i dropped mine and it hit my floor and sounded like it broke but nothing happened, occasionally it will open and then black screen but it's not too common for me

What worked for me was clicking the power button in and out a bunch of times. But I'm keeping your video so I can clear cache later. Why did Samsung take that capability out of the settings? Also, how did you learn how to clear cache on these phones? I always carry a second phone (work phone, but will buy one after I retire next year), which saved me today since I had to send some texts and so I used my backup phone until I got my Samsung fixed. Thanks!

I followed your steps and it is doing better except after holding the buttons down the Samsung logo would only come on when the flip is closed. I will keep trying. It tells me when closed to open to unlock, but I cannot do that on a black screen. Thanks so much for your help.
Thank you for sharing these methods! The freezer worked for me. Ive been doing that for about a month now because the black screen still comes back after a few hours. Is there an explanation how the freezer works? Im sure it is not a heating issue because the phone usually reverts to black screen whenever i stop using it, and it doesnt feel heated at all. I would like to know the root cause but cant find any in google either. Thank you so much for offering these solutions, im just really curious how the freezer method came to be 😊

***FIX**** finally!!!!
I found out that the corners of the folding mechanism were pinching on one side, one corner, when I would open and close the screen. Inserted a small square piece of straw (fake plastic kind) between the screen and hing mechanism near volume button and tape it, so that it forced it not to pinch as hard on that corner. It is used as a very thin spacer. I put my phone cover over it all to hold it in place. This completely stopped the problem, 100%. Sometimes there is a software lag, but this is different becauce i will hear the 'screen on' click noise delayed, and the screen does turn on. It stopped blinking, glitching. My phone used to do the exact same and it drove me nuts for like 5 months. Almost forgot about this thread, so I decided to look it back up and share this good news. This fix has worked 100% now for over 2 weeks. I was initially inspired by reading something online that it had something to do with the mechanism sensor after dropping it. But with me it def had to do with how it was squeezing and pinching on one side of the hinge mechanism. Good luck to you all!!

Unfortunately didn't work. My phone turns on just fine, cover screen works just fine, but my inner screen never turns on or responds to touch. I bought it secondhand so I can't get it repaired through warranty. Did anyone else have the same problems as me fix theirs, and if so how?

My screen freeze and when i touch on any screen part it doesn't detect. After that i close the flip and open it again and it only show "samsung galaxy" with black screen. The one I have is completely black , it was fully charged, wasn't dropped or messed with. When I put in the charger it makes no noise, however, when I use a reverse charge to charge it, my other phone does show that the phone is charging. Reset buttons don't work
