This is my grandfather Alfred Dietrick, he is the most inspirational man I’ve ever known. My family and I are so blessed to have heard the stories he has shared with us, along with the wisdom he holds. It is such an honor to see him speak and tell of the experiences he’s been through. Mr. Dietrick is currently 99 years young and doing great! I still see him every week at his home in San Antonio.

Rewatching as I prepare to see this man next month to celebrate his 100th birthday.
If you think this is amazing, you should meet him. He’s one of my biggest heroes and the consummate story teller.
Aside from my parents, he’s the biggest influence I have. My Uncle, my Godfather. A WWII vet who struggled with my marrying a German National. Side note: he’s okay with it after he met said German husband.
The story you’ve been blessed to see via this channel pales in comparison to this true patriot who has blessed my entire
life. Uncle Al (aka Sgt Dietrick) is a national treasure.

This is my 101 year old Godfather/great uncle. One the most amazing humans I’ve ever had the good fortune to know. He’s our family historian and story teller (as witnessed in this video). He’s currently in hospice. Please keep him I’m your thoughts and/or prayers. The penultimate man deserves nothing but peace.

He’s my great uncle and Godfather. He’s even better in person. He’s a family treasure. He will be 100 next month (December 2021). He’s all that to all of of blessed enough to have him in our lives.
He exemplifies what Tom Brokaw calls “the greatest generation”. But he’s also hell on wheels when playing canasta!
