I watched the British version first..... LOVED IT!!! And the U.S. version is GREAT as well.... I love seeing the translation into American Culture. I live in New York, and I can barely understand the people from Alabama, so I can see why they had to translate it.

I think that Joan Cussack is hilarious. I've had Agoraphobia since 1982 but not that bad. Her's is the worst where she can't leave her house. Agoraphobia is the FEAR OF ALL FEARS for it encompasses a little bit of all the other fears like "Cloustraphobia". I haven't eaten out since 1982, etc.
Its funny how the word disfuntional is used in this interview... am from Manchester, England and for those of you who don't know shameless the ORIGINAL u.k. version is set in the fictional Chatsworth council estate, Stretford, Greater Manchester! to us the Gallagher family are not disfuntional they are normal! and if your a fan of the us version please check out uk one... you wont be disappointed.
I don't why some people are trippin' on when the guy said "you look terrible". To those who are: Calm down. He was obviously joking (if him saying that afterwards wasn't obvious enough). Even Emmy was laughing and knew it was a light-hearted joke. She's not crying about it. So neither should anybody for that matter.
I do think she was aware that it was an adaption bet her first reaction when hearing this was isn't that British show that had James McAvoy? It was on US tv for a short period of time so she probably skimmed and saw bits of it and was impressed with what she saw and said I'm in.

I think a lot of the male characters are very strong (Steve and Ian have also shown moments of bravery). The only man in the entire show that I would consider a full-blown pussy is Kash. And even he shot someone in the last episode, lol.
I know I was so mad when I found out they were remaking it!! Why do we always rip off great UK shows? We should try to remake the shitty shows instead of 'borrowing' the good ones.

the only thing i dont like about american shameless is how it doesnt really focus on living on a rough estate which ours is very focued on
