    Bikes and Kit:
    Lindsay and I were riding our favourite steel hard-tails. A big thanks to Pipedream (Scottish Brand, Designed in Edinburgh) for making such awesome bikes. Check out their new SIRIUS if you are interested in a go-anywhere do-anything adventure bike.

    We had the bikes loaded up with AcePac Bikepacking Luggage. These are available to buy on our own site www.terraventu...
    The video was made using a Go-Pro 8 a Sony RX100 mk1 and photos from our smartphones. We didn't specifically stop to film. Everything was captured on the move with no second takes or scripting. What you see is a fly-on-the-wall fun video documenting our trip.

    Man, when I travel I have at least 2 20K powerbanks with me, after the big meltdown of "no battery hike" in the north, when I hardly have footage, because I was stupid and forgot to bring the big guns. It is nice to see I'm not the only one now who packs those huge ones :D

    • @TerraVenture

      Definitely, only a single 20k but it’s 60w so recharges almost fully in a single coffee and cake stop!

      Thanks for taking the time to say, it's our first bash at it, was good fun and although took a while to pull together, will enjoy watching it back ourselves in years to come.

      @@TerraVenture will do. I subbed after watching your Roam Scottish Rally - which looks ace by the way.. 👏👏.. More used to tarmac however picked up an MTB last year. Closest thing to bike packing was the Dunoon Dirt Dash last year - Which was interesting... Tough but fun... Keep up the good work.. 😎

    Thank you for showing off this often missed out part of Scotland. It's full of beauty and variety that is so often overlooked for the more well known parts of the Highlands. Looks like you did a lot of "hike a bike". I have a gravel bike so maybe a bit more road is required when I head down the peninsula 🙂

    • @TerraVenture
      @TerraVenture  2 года назад +2

      There is a lot of beauty in this region. If the local tourism board could see the benefit to be gained from investing in the route and it's connections I think it would be a very attractive destination!

      I think you’re right that these outstanding places are a bit of an unknown secret to many folk. Exploring by bike,whether by mtb or gravel has got to be one of the best ways to fully appreciate these places too. We tend to choose the most off road routes we can find as we both enjoy that kind of riding as you have maybe guessed! You would be able to reroute the gnarliest sections for alternative gravel friendly routes to get out to many of these spots though.

      There are quite a few places in Scotland that we have not explored yet, so hopefully we’ll find more hidden gems in the years to come. I’ve got a few places on my list and there will be plenty we haven’t even thought of I’m sure!

      Very rarely, we abandoned the Cateran trail this winter due to firereoads being solid ice, we are building up to handle all seasons, but hadn't got as far as ice tyres yet!

      Hi Ceri - tricky sections that might need a bit of hike-a-bike are usually fairly short thank goodness, so we’ll push through if we can. Sometimes there can be an element of satisfaction to the challenge! I think the hardest push through we’ve done was after Storm Arwen when we had to climb with loaded bikes through the tree trunk Jenga that blocked our way!

    Beautiful scenery! Enjoyed your trip very much. Question?, What company are the bikes you're both riding?

    • @TerraVenture
      @TerraVenture  2 года назад +1

      Hi Raul, the bikes are a Scottish brand called Pipedream, the model is the Moxie. Our bikes are the Mkq version, that model is updated to Make now and is a little more enduro focused. The New Sirius is now very close to our Mk1 Moxie.

    Great vids and great trip thanks. Not too sure I’d try it on my gravel, could you adapt it to suit a gravel ride?

    • @TerraVenture
      @TerraVenture  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Rick, you could but I feel there would be too much to compromise, there are a good few steep sections that would undo me on gravel gearing, I'm running 30t Oval by 10-51. Very wide range, but does let me ride all but one bit of the climb out of Tarbert. If you cut out some of those bits you would end up with more of a road tour. There is a lot some people can do on gravel bike but natural inclination for this route is a MTB. Some more Gravel routes planned in the future though!
