What a cool pattern! The wing clump technique took some practice, challenging but in a good way. It took me 6 flies before the it looked right. Great instruction! Can't wait to try these out.
Really like this one. Not exactly elegant. Kinda like me. When you clipped the butt ends off the legs I thought, wait a second. That looks like a bug climbing out of the shuck. I’m gonna try leaving those intact.
I’ve recently pulled out all my “back in the day…” books, one of which is the original S&R tying guide. Thanks for sharing your take on this classic! 🎣
That's a great trick for the thorax
Very cool fly.
Another great fly, with a new trick to master. Thanks!
If Don King was a fly pattern 😂

Old school = New school
Great pattern and instructions. Thanks
Very cool
great tie- hey what is that body dubbing blend? I didn't see it in your shop. Seems like the perfect baetis nymph mix of olive/brown
I think that’s brown and amber superfine that I hand blended. Come by the shop and I’ll show you how…super easy to make your own custom colors
You are such a master, thanks for sharing!

Did this 40 years ago! Dam don’t tell everyone about it, cause it just works!

Would Kapok dubbing have any advantages or disadvantages to the Superfine?
That nymph looks like grandma's fancy blue hair after a day at the beauty parlor. Cool bug Charlie.
OK, I won’t tell anyone, Charlie. 😉
Super cool technique! Curious, how well does the dubbing ball hold up to fish?
Surprisingly well!
👏👏👏👏👏👍
