Nice video series. I suggest to add some commentary by the gardener himself. Also, some additional description of the plants chosen would be great. I like the first minute you included on driving through the neighborhood, which gives the viewer a better sense of setting. Please keep up the awesome job you are doing. You are filling a need to learn more about authentic traditional Japanese landscaping.
Thank you! I'm also preparing a video with a Japanese gardener explaining the process, but it's not ready yet😅. Thanks for the advice! I'll work on it!
it adds so much when you start planting trees and moss! the garden becomes alive. but watching this episode i thought, could you make a series about maintaining tsuboniwa gardens? how to treat moss, bushes and prune trees etc.? it would be a great addition to your series about making fences.
Inspirational as usual ! I would love to see more about the charcoal used and maybe the process of how to create this ? Looking forward to seeing it completed ...
I am mexican but I really love the japanese art becasue this is art I would really to be in japan and learning all the wonderful things you do. thank you. OHAIO GOZAIMAS
Wow! What an improvement to the previous garden! Now it really invites you in and theres a serenity yet also an energizing element to it. It seems to spark my creative energy. The added trees, bushes, ferns and moss were perfect! You’ve created so many little points of interest in that small space. I find that my eyes and imagination take a little journey making that space feel so much more exciting. By the way, where is the water from the Tsukubai draining to ? The garden before looked as though it had a xylophone type drainage system or recirculating water system. But I didn’t see that recreated in the new garden.
When I first saw them unloading everything to be planted, I thought it seems like too much for a small space. Everything chosen for a reason, and fit just fine in the space. Look forward to the next video.
Perfection! An intimate and calming garden. I could just be in it constantly. I love your thoughts and creativity to create gardens one can breathe deeply in. Thank you. Peace 💫
This really is becoming an amazing little garden! So much attention to detail! The charcoal used to absorb splashing is something I've never seen, but it's brilliant! I'm curious to know if Yamaguchi San will visit the garden in the future to do yearly maintenance. Does he take care of the gardens he creates?
I want to know more about why he does things. What are the soil amendments? Are the burlap wrappings left on the plants? Why? As a gardener, I'm learning from your videos. But much important information is left out. I also miss the English narration
The sacks are likely left to contain the roots and slow growth. I do want notes on the soil typed and also PRUNING I must know more about the pruning, it looks so wild and free as they cut like Edward Scissorhands! I can't analyze what or how haha
Wrapped around the roots will be a hemp cloth. This one will rot after a while, so there is no problem at all. Also, if this wrap is removed, the soil and fine roots attached to the roots will be removed, leading to withering.
You are the great gardener. I watch every your video, I like it so much. I want to make my small garden like this too. but I want to know one thing. Why you put the root into the sack before you plant the tree? In my country they don't do this. So I don't the reason. PS. Sorry for my bad English.
@Kohei Yamaguchi very nice work! These videos are so helpful for gardeners. I have a question- if you were to add color (something more flowering) does the position in the garden need to be considered much? Thank you!
Question from a newbie trying to learn - what’s the reason for wrapping the roots of the tree/shrub before planting them? Hope someone can drop some knowledge, thank you.
It enables you to keep the roots compact and surrounded by soil. They don’t lose as much moisture and are less likely to be broken. They will eventually break through the wrapping as it deteriorates.
He has explained in other videos that he uses a hemp wrapping that will naturally deteriorate. In the US many garden centers use a plastic wrapping which must be removed prior to planting.
Hello, I live in the Czech Republic and I am a fan of Japanese culture. It is very nice small garden. Please, I have a question : because of small and all-four-sides closed garden - do the trees have enough sunlight (especially the maple) ? There are many small gardens in Japan with all closed walls but I don´t understand how the tress get sunlight for their progress? Thank you very much for answer.
I’m curious about the reasons for the different colors and types of soil you added, like the orange one under the moss. Is it for drainage or nutrients, or something else?
I am also curious about the same thing. At the 7:00 point he drops a lot of soil and to me it looks like Akadama.. the same for bonsai. I wonder what the soil mixtures are.
Hi, love the channel! Quick question, when you wrap the root-ball of that tree, do you leave the bottom open so that roots can grow downward? Otherwise isn't it just like keeping the tree in a pot, which would cause wilting?

A beautiful jewel tucked away in a magical space! Thank you so much for sharing this, I may try out some of your ideas in my garden.

Excellent tip the use of the charcoal, I love it.
Thanks!🌸
It’s so beautifully done. The trees, shrubs, stones, etc. are in great harmony. I wish i had a garden like this. Thanks for video clip.

Thank you for creating the video. The work is amazing. Like others, I was fascinated by the use of charcoal.
Yes, it is!
Using charcoal was an interesting idea!
They say this is a technique that's been used for quite some time!
Beauty personified

Os jardins com flores são lindos e alegres mas os jardins orientais trazem uma tranquilidade incomparável. Excelente trabalho.💕🇧🇷

Also love the fact you can just drop Akadama, here in the U.K it is very expensive.
I loved the part when they renovated a Japanese garden reusing materials

Ağaç fidanlarının köklerindeki toprağa çuval geçirip bağlamışsınız, sebebi nedir?
that charcoal technique was really nice but how they form like that? looks like it was right from charcoal tree :))
Yes, it is!
Seems the more expensive charcoal has a much prettier pattern! I'll show you next time I get a chance!
Fantástico 👏👏

I am also wondering why they leave the root balls wrapped.
Wrapped around the roots will be a hemp cloth.
This one will rot after a while, so there is no problem at all.
Also, if this wrap is removed, the soil and fine roots attached to the roots will be removed, leading to withering.
This cloth is natural hemp cloth, so it will quickly rot and disappear in the soil.
Therefore, it does not restrict growth.😊

Here in north America if it is burlap we leave it to compost naturally

Me to, please reply! Thank you for the videos!
This soil will have high water holding capacity.
Each moss has different characteristics, so we will need to change the soil.
@@JapaneseGardenTV Aww. That makes sense. Thank you for your kind response. The attention to detail in your gardens is impressive!

Was it the light, or was it Ukigumo?
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Thanks!!
Is that crushed Akadama pumice/clay substrate for the moss?
Maybe it's similar to Akadama.
The soil will be a little more water-holding than regular soil.
What is the yellow powderly dirt used to plant the moss?
The soil will be a little more water-holding.
