Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, the musician frequently appeared on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, and his relationship with the show reaches its apex on this fantastic 1977 television special, which Simon wrote with legendary SNL producer Lorne Michaels. A send-up of the backstage experience, THE PAUL SIMON SPECIAL stars Charles Grodin as a hilarious producer and Lily Tomlin and Chevy Chase as themselves. In addition, Paul plays some of his hits, including collaborations with his old partner, Art Garfunkel.

what a beautiful song this is...from one of the greatest singer/song writers of all time...true musical genius PAUL SIMON
Me too! He is still a great model role for young and "old" love, Bob.

I imagine you also find him to be a great role model on account of his godlessness... a great example for all people... young and old
The guy could write just about anything.
words-voice-music.... he's the complete package.
+ guitar.
Wow were the seventies ever smooth.... That Rhodes, those strings... like melted butter.....
Anyone impressed by the vintage equipment here? Feels it's more like from one decade later. Those cranes, you know.
Man, his falsetto is so pretty!
What a great tune…I don’t ever remember hearing it before though…I like it.
It's so beautiful, love this song always again very much!
Beautiful! I love these live clips, he performs with feeling.
My favorite song forever.
So lovely!
Gah, what an incredible performance.
❤️ to Paul and who was there
Richard Tee sounds so good on those Rhodes
magical!
The 70s - even with the use of synthesizers, the music was much more organic, more real, and easy to listen to. Live performances as good as this can only be pulled off with talent, not technology.
SO true!
just figured something out on this one...I was trying to play it on guitar according to the sheet I downloaded, and I FINALLY noticed he has his guitar tuned up 1/2 step! Great song, not as simple as it sounds!
very complex composition
@DanceTilWerHigh Stick with it! It's one of the best Paul Simon songs to learn; folks dig it, it provides a mini education in melody and harmony, and it has one his most awesome bridges. Its basic structure isn't that hard to reproduce.
And heart.
this is cool
wow
Paul was so much better with Artie. 😧
Norma: Paul was the BEST with Artie, not merely better.
We, as fans, got spoiled on the excellence of this duo, and expected all else from Paul to be the same quality.
Almost all of it was, but the original music they made together set the bar VERY high.
Artie is missing and it shows. So sad without him.
But it was Artie’s voice that made the songs magical
I think Paul's music became much more varied, personal and interesting without Art.
