    I have been keeping a BGK for the past four months and so far these are the things ive learned about these guys
    1)They prefer lots of hiding places: You wont see them all day cause they be chillin in their caves.
    2)They grow very fast surprisingly: I bought mine when it was a 3 inch dude, now its nearing 7 inches.
    3)These dudes will eat floating food if there is no one in the tank they fear: I have a Brown Roofed Turtle with my BGK and my BGK is fearful of the turtle. So whenever my turtle is in his cave and doesnt feel like eating from the surface, my Black Ghost will happily go to the surface to eat from there.
    4)They are territorial against other South American fish: I have 2 species of S American fish, two Common Plecostomus and one Black Ghost Knifefish. My BGK only defends his territory against the plecos and will happily share his territory and cave with other tankmates which are not from South America.
    5)Cichlids will nip and harass BGKs to death: I had 6 African Cichlids with my BGK and they loved to nip my knife and kick her out of her cave. Ive given away those cichlids. Dont do cichlids with BGK.
    6)Their echolocation and lateral sense is pretty sharp and on point: if you worry about your knife falling prey to another fish or getting stuck and dying under falling decor and rocks, you are mistaken. There have been several instances where my knife was almost crushed by a falling rock but her senses get her out just in time. So i wont recommend decor which can collapse easily.
    7)They fear turtles: If you have a turtle with your knife, chances are the knife wont come out more often.
    8)They dont eat snails: I have kept mysteries/apples, bladders and malaysian trumpets with the BGK and he leaves them alone. He doesnt even eat the eggs or babies.
    9)They will eat your crabs and crayfish once they molt: If you have a crab or crayfish with your BGK, they will eat it the moment they molt. Mine did. RIP lil cray
    This is it. Hope it helps

    • @ayunkhan2395
      @ayunkhan2395 3 года назад +1

      @@Bruce.Wanye. BGKs will eat the crays if they catch them right after a fresh molt. Crays can eat BGKs as well if they are big enough. If you have a big enough tank with good enough scape with hides, id say go for it. Otherwise, they're better off seperate

    Hi Sir,
    I have an aquarium of 2.5 ft tank with Black Ghost Knife Fish. However, the water in the tank is a bit cloudy, can I add API Accu-Clear
    to remove this cloudiness. Whether this API Accu-Clear will harm my Black Ghost Knife Fish. I am using two hang on filters then also the water is cloudy.
    Please inform me how can I make the water crystal clear.

      Water change once a month

    • @Lif3OfAMV
      @Lif3OfAMV 2 года назад

      only feed as much as they can eat, rotting food is the #1 culprit of cloudiness
      clean filter regularly, not as often as water change but fairly often. You want to wash all the gunk off but not too much, keep the beneficial bacteria
      water change every 2 weeks to a month
      if you have a big tank make sure there is proper circulation on both sides, whether it’s two filters, a filter and a wave maker, or an intake one side exhaust other side
      that should clear it up. But to answer the question about the clearing chemicals. To my knowledge most if not all water clarifying chemicals won’t harm the fish
