    This is exactly what I was thinking few years ago as I saw the uncommon vegetables disappearing from the market and only the widely used ones have continued to be mass produce. Wonderful effort and let us know how we can help this cause further.

    I’m from mangalore and some of our local vegetables are moge ( mangalore cucumber), kuvalo ( white pumpkin), Malabar spinach, drumstick, allu leaves, jackfruit, wild jackfruit, breadfruit or digujje, banana flowers and a host of green leaves

    The heart might be in the right place, but speaking of avocado, tomato, Chilli when speaking of traditional India food is so wrong

    • @exelrode
      @exelrode 6 месяцев назад +3

      True, none of these are actually native to the Indian subcontinent and mostly came from the new world. But honestly its difficult to imagine to cook anything today without using tomato or chilli unless your purposefully try to avoid them for some reason but other than that they are used in almost all kinds of food in our country

    Please answer what are the vegetables and fruits and nuts used in Indian cooking BEFORE the New World vegetables arrived. No tomatoes, no potatoes, no chilis. What were the recipes and what dishes were made if there were no tomatoes, potatoes, and chilis to put into the cooking?
    Please don't act like you never thought of South Asian history, because this is a valid question. I have asked Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Indian nationals this question, and they all chuckle and then go running away as if they heard the most frightening question of their lives. Why would someone be afraid to answer this question.

      There were tons of vegetables ...including all the leafy greens , pumpkin , ash gourd , cucumber . I can remember 56 more but it's better if you read books yourself .
      To add , instead of chilli , we had long pepper .
      If you can tell me the taste/texture - I will tell you what vegetables were there to correspond with taste in ancient India .

    How come there's no mention of the indigenous veggies? 200 species every day? List just ten? Finally whatever you guys are cultivating like 13 varieties of tomatoes aren't native to India at all.

    Madam, Pranams. The wonderful work undertaken by you should continue and grow. Additionally there is abundance of variety of food preparations, snacks, chutneys/ powders, sweets which is our heritage and is fast dying out. At least an attempt to record them is needed.

      So, are you going to the the FIRST in the billion plus people population....to be DE-population-ized for the global good...if not, then cut the CRAP....become a part of the living solution, and cooperate with the revitalization of good agriculture practices, for the sustainability of all human beings currently living on earth!
