Can JLR deal with this issue with transparency, integrity and professionalism. Clearly not based on my viewing this video. A controlled, often condescending and orchestrated interaction with an ‘independent’ journalist. Mr McGillycuddy clearly thinks that an insurance premium of £200 per month (£2400 per year) is competitive - I fail to understand why? However, this is a great video to demonstrate the art of body swerving, avoiding the question and just general arrogance - well done JLR.
One of the issues affecting insurance premiums is the lack of availability of spare parts to repair damaged cars. There are numerous stories of cars being off the road for a lengthy periods of time with fairly minor damage, because spares are not available to effect a repair. This has a knock on effect for insurance companies having to supply courtesy cars whilst vehicles are repaired. This is something JLR should be able to resolve.
Hi Craig, there are a number of socioeconomic factors which are impacting increased insurance premiums which isn’t unique to JLR. Inflation and associated labour costs, as well as availability of parts internationally (we are seeing some geo-political factors at play) are all feeding into the heightened insurance premiums affecting the industry. Wherever JLR can positively impact the market through direct actions, we will continue to do so. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
parts supply or lack of them and extortionate price of parts is causing massive issues for owners and dealers and is despite what you say driving up insurance costs. I hear it's caused by you moving parts warehouses? @@LandRoverUK
The bit they aren’t mentioning is that they ‘rationalised’ all their regional parts distribution centres and outsourced them to a single vendor and it has been a complete disaster. They’ve lost track of inventory etc. was in a trade mag a while back.
I'm in the USA. 2017 RRS Diesel. Dealer accidentally dropped something into the intake during oil change which shredded the turbo. Turbos are on international backorder! I waited from mid Sept until a week ago to get my vehicle back. Paying loan payments and insurance all the while. Why did I get it back? I had to convince the dealer to install an aftermarket part, which they still charged me the factory price. I took the vehicle in for an oil change - 3.5 months and $6000 USD later I have a vehicle back. Why would anyone buy a Land Rover right now? Thank you for taking all this criticism and stories. Hopefully it results in improvement.
I went to Land Rover last weekend to buy a new LR Sport or LR Velar. The next day, I just saw some videos and tried to look for insurance but only 2 insurers gave quote and the price is £7k. Then I called the sales agent today and he asked me to check the LR Insurance, but when I tried to quote from LR insurance website, it says 'we cannot provide insurance at the moment'. This is insane. So, I decide to look for another car.
We are sorry to hear that you had challenges insuring your vehicle. We are working with UK insurance providers to improve the situation where we can, but the UK insurance market is currently seeing fluctuations in policy availability and premiums across the board. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
Ginny must be absolutely glowing. Apparently every question she asks is "great" or "good". I noticed, however, that Mr McGillycuddy bodyswerved the question near the end about whether or not JLR was guilty of not having done enough in the past. The answer he was looking for was: "Yes."
Yes but when replacing stolen cars is a solid revenue line its all sunshine and roses. Right until there is a catastrophic failure of the insurance market for your product… turns out the cost of replacing cars had to materialise somewhere.
£200 per month for insurance!! My Insurance was £490 per year for my Range Rover Sport, now the cheapest quote I can get anywhere is £2900. None of my details have changed. Tried all the comparison sites. JLR would not provide a quote. I could get a cheaper quote on a Bentley Bentayga valued nearly 3x more than my RR Sport.
Hi Kenny, Sorry to hear you are having this issue with your vehicle. Currently, the entire insurance market is seeing an increase in premiums. Consumer Intelligence reported that car insurance premiums rose more than 60% in the year to November, the highest annual increase on record. This is reflected in the quotes people are seeing on the open market, we appreciate this may mean a hike in what you’re used to and we hope the market stabilises soon. We’d be happy to discuss your Land Rover Insurance quotability in further detail, if you’d like to contact us at: spkl.io/60524Q4Uj
@@LandRoverUK Unfortunately after 8 Land Rover vehicles over the last 20 years, I have sold and bought a Volvo XC90 R-Design which was only £1035 to insure.
😂 Point the finger… look at all those over there too, though. JLR insurance price rises are unparalleled by any other vehicles. JLR insurance prices are out of control.
I'm 61 with 45yrs no claims, I drive a discovery 5 hse luxury 2018, the cheapest quote I can get is £3000 with a £700 deposit. Landrover insurance won't insurance me, as per many others.
Selling vehicles for decades knowing they have been fitted with engines that may/will premature fail, should have been a class action. The later Ingenium engines particularly the 2.0L was no better, with continual failures.
I forced myself to watch this video because from the start it was JLR PR. Ginney Buckley as others have said asked great questions and McGillycuddy gave as many obscure or body swerving answers as he could. I got nothing from this video that I didn't already know from another independent You Tube poster and so hold no hope that anything is going to change anytime soon.
Since we launched in October 2023, we’ve provided quotes to more than 8,500 clients. In December alone we provided more than 3,500 quotes - which is a really positive trend and we’re confident this will only continue to grow. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
My 2023 Evoque comes with a one year included to the InControl Secure Tracker. I do intend to extend it but I would have thought that with all the present problems JLR would include the subscription for 3 years as with the warranty. The certificate that comes with the tracker says that it is Thatcham Cat 6 approved which concerns me as Thatcham moved from Cat 6 to S7 category in 2019! Also cat S7 is just a tracker, to quote Thatcham "Thatcham Category 6 - A good, reliable entry level system"! I would have thought that a more comprehensive system should be used on such valuable vehicles! The difference between the InControl Secure Tracker and the InControl Secure Tracker Pro - The InControl Secure Tracker is a Thatcham Cat 6 (S7) basic entry level system which "Secure Tracker alerts you and the Stolen Vehicle Tracking Centre if someone tries to steal your vehicle". The InControl Secure Tracker Pro is a better system being Thatcham S5 compliant as it also "Prevents unauthorised keys from starting your vehicle with our cutting-edge authentication technology". Apparently as they are completely different trackers you cannot upgrade from the S7 to the S5 at renewal. What a cheapskate of JLR not to put the best system on a £57K vehicle!!!! I also enquired about after market immobilisers (e.g. Ghost 2). They don't like this idea and could not recommend any after market immobilisers as it may invalidate my 3 year warranty. How serious are they about protecting their vehicles?
Hi Rob, we have a phased approach to the roll-out of the latest security enhancements. As you know, we're currently working on models from 2018. We're also working on solutions for older vehicles as a business priority and we will contact you direct when there's an update available. In the meantime, please do call you retailer for specific advice on your vehicle. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover
Is this “model year” as shown on online service history? I have a velar which was first registered and sold at the end of 2017 but shows up as a 2018 model year online. Please could you clarify - Thank you
We are working on a nationwide programme updating security features of vehicles from 2018 with support from our retail network. Anyone with concerns about the security of their vehicle should speak to their retailer. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
I had LandRover insurance for the past 2 years from owning my Defender 110, I paid £620 for for the last 2 years on JLR. last week I looked at the renewal price and went up to £1,707.60 for the year 2024! I went on the compare sites and found the same cover and use will use genuine JLR parts for £660 for the year. I don't see how JLR can say we are competitive with the current market. I did ring the JLR insurance customer services and I explained the price to them and my response was 'This is the price and we can not do anything' its funny how other competitors can get me a lower price!
I own an early 2021 Land Rover from new, and am unclear whether or not it has the Ultra Wide Band key technology as I believe it was only introduced around this time. Is there anywhere I can go to check this?
Yes, your vehicle will have UWB tech applied as we introduced this in 2018. It's easily recognisable by the slightly larger key fob. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover
@@LandRoverUK Many thanks for your reply, Charles. That's reassuring to know regarding UWB implementation dates, but as I am a new LR customer, I don't have an older (smaller) key fob to compare mine with for your suggested visual check. 😉
Ah, ok, if a size comparison isn't an option, a 'Land Rover' badge on the rear of the fob is also a key differentiator. If no badge is present, but 'Land Rover' is engraved in the chrome panel running along the long-edge of the fob, it's not UWB. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover
He mentioned Guardian mode, which I used to have, and founduseful, but it's no longer in the app. I'm guessing it's because I didn't take out the full fat InControl Pro (secure Tracker) subscription as I've a Ghost 2 immobiliser and didn't need the tracker functionality. I wonder if this is something JLR could add to the Remote Premium subscription?
I have guardian mode and use it most nights, it doesn't seem to do much if activated, I just get a notification on my phone but nothing from Land rover who are supposed to monitor.
Ghost is a brand, they offer a suite of products including immobilisers and trackers. The only system we recommend is the Tracker Retrieve as it does not impact the vehicle systems. Our new Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender models are fitted with the latest immobiliser and tracker technology. Tracker's Battery Powered Retrieve unit, a standalone tracking device which complements our In Control Secure Tracker Pro and is installed in a variety of locations with minimal intrusion into the vehicle's electrical systems. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
Not at all, we recommend Tracker's Battery Powered Retrieve unit, a device that complements In Control Secure Tracker Pro and can be installed in a variety of locations with minimal intrusion into the vehicle's electrical systems. This has been evaluated, not only for performance, but for its electromagnetic compatibility with our cars' electrical systems. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
Why don’t you embed trackers in the ECU? Then program it so the car will not run with any other ECU. Having them as separate removable units clearly is too easy to remove. Alternatively, brick the ECU if the tracking system is tampered with.
Let’s just look at the claimed 0.08% and 0.1% of new RR and RR Sport. The problem is that they haven’t sold very many of these models. The bulk have been prioritised to go abroad to USA, Asia and Middle East where the problem doesn’t exist so badly. Where they can sell them. Supply and waiting lists are so long in the UK that they haven’t sold very many. Of those in the UK, they are rare as Hens teeth so naturally they are much harder to find to try to steal them. Those figures would be significantly higher if they had sold more. Vicious circle because they are not selling more because nobody wants the headache of the insurance and almost certain theft especially in places where they have high distribution density of products (in Coventry, Birmingham where they are made (and thieves have more hands on knowledge) and London’s affluent more areas.
I'm 57 years old with a full clean driving licence and live in Birmingham, I have owned and driven Landrovers for more than 25years, sadly the cost of ownership and the risk of theft has lead me to sell my loved Range Rover Sport SVR 2019 model year. When my renewal came it rose by more than 100% even though my circumstances had not changed. I had so few quotes and some up to £30,000, even taking into account the fact that I had paid more than £1,200 on security, I had a Disklok, a Ghost immobiliser, and subscribed to 2 different tracker systems. They are fantastic vehicles but now only for the very rich.
Tad confused. Is it the pre 2018 vehicles at risk due to older less efficient security or 2018-22? I rang my dealer to see if my vehicle was due an update or needed it ...ge said no on both counts. He said it didn't need it as was between 2018 and 22? Who is not being honest here ? Then on the JLR own insurance ...they are not insuring some drivers ....so what actually is the point of them doing the insurance. Seems a bit "double-speek" on both those counts ( ref 1984)

With regard to the ultrawide band key protection, can you confirm that only comes if the car has Secure Tracker Pro? And are the insurance companies aware which models come with an S5 tracker as standard and why is that making no difference?
Hi, It’s important to distinguish that ultra-wide band (UWB) technology and Secure Tracker Pro are two separate security measures and are not reliant upon one another to be effective. UWB technology is preventative, it makes the vehicles immune to the relay theft method. Should a vehicle be stolen by other means (if someone steals your key, for example), Secure Tracker Pro will assist recovery. All new vehicles come with a 12 month subscription of Secure Tracker as a minimum. Position on trackers vary according to Insurance providers. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover

2016 Evoque for 2 years was around £330 / year till last renewal when cheapest I could get to was £950. JLR insurance won't quote. Talking to one insurance advisor it was down to keyless entry thefts and the fact they can't distinguish which cars have or, like mine, do not means all grouped as having and being higher risk
To be clear, with the BCM update are we protected from the relay attack, or just them being able to start the car with their own key after hacking the obd port or cutting into wires?
Hi @mrav6101 ,thank you for your question. The recent security update rollout relates to updating our vehicles’ Body Control Module (BCM) - which prevents thieves driving a vehicle away without a key. Criminals have previously hacked this keyless entry system, enabling them to start the engine, but the security updates contain embedded technology to prevent this. The ‘relay’ method you refer to, is where criminals intercept signals between the vehicle and key to unlock the car. In 2018, we rolled out Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) protection to counter this method of theft. Vehicles are not vulnerable to ‘relay’ when equipped with this technology, which also mitigates the requirement to store keys in a faraday pouch. I hope that helps. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
I have recently purchased a used range rover evoque MY18 - how do I know if this security enhancement has already been applied? If it hasn’t how would I know if this enhancement is currently available for my car? (If this letter has been sent to previous owner without being actioned).
Is everything discussed here relevant worldwide, or in my case vehicles sold in the US? I'm not familiar with Secure Tracker Pro, is that available on MY24 RRS in the US? One of your responses above notes that JLR was the first to develop UWB security in 2018, why did it take until 2022 to implement? Do all JLR vehicles worldwide have all of these security enhancements since 2023?
I contacted JLR asked them if I can book for software update and was told no I have to wait for them to contact me ! You would have thought owners could just book in for peace of mind and less worry. Maybe if JLR sends data to insurance companies so they can hold a database of all cars that have had the update premiums could reflect this ! Just a thought ?

Not everything is accurate. I have just purchased a new Range Rover Sport last week, was assured months earlier that the insurance issue has been resolved. However, I struggled to get a cover but eventually did buy paid 7 times more than my previous premiums. Also, Land Rover insurance declined to offer insurance to me when I tried to get cover via their web site.

I would note that many in the industry and media are incorrectly describing OTA ("Over The Air") updates by Tesla as "Recalls".... Even though those vehicles never need to be taken to a dealer for adjustment/ update. . That makes it difficult for the JLR situation to be described as "not a recall", even if voluntary, not demanded by industry regulators.

Brokers are saying that JLR insurance is cherry picking and only quoting vanilla business (and not cheaply either!). Sorry JLR but this is REALLY stupid, because if you cherry pick all the low risk, the wider market is left with the high risk and their quotes will become astronomical or they won’t insure at all. So congratulations JLR, by only quoting lower risk business you’ve made the problem MASSIVELY worse … that’s not clever! So… you MUST be prepared to quote in all cases, sure, price up the higher risk, but if you only quote selectively, you destroy the market for all Land Rover owners. Please hurry up and address this, you are killing your own brand by not underwriting insurance across all risk categories.

Good to hear there are a lot of good questions 😂. TBH, for a JLR video, it was a good interview. Interesting that the was regular reference to Jaguar Land Rover rather than JLR - have they realised their mistake?
Very sad to learn of the dreadful situation in UK with JLR. I used to be a British Motor Trade member but now live in New Zealand with my L405 Autobiography. No theft problems here, my insurance 700quid a year, Road Tax 85 quid. The authorities need to nail this problem, the BHAM crime squad were on top of it in the 1970s when they knew how to stop the disposal of stolen cars especially to the Soviet Union.
“Our customers like the convenience of Keyless Entry” Your customers also prefer not to have their cars stolen, I suspect more than they prefer keyless entry. Not just for JLR but all brands, I have zero issues if all brands got rid of that feature.
I own a 2023 Defender, I use a steering lock and pedal lock at night and have keyless switched off. It's frustrating that JLR have no security for the spare wheel on the back door as theft of these is epidemic. Locking wheel nuts are useless deterrent.
Hi Jess, it’s great to hear all the additional security measures you’re taking. We are in the process of fast-tracking our research on thefts of spare wheels and expect a solution to mitigate this in the coming months. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
We encourage clients to deploy any physical deterrents they see fit if it will give them extra peace of mind when leaving their vehicles unattended. @jessietreverton3191 can rest assured that their new Defender is resilient against keyless attacks thanks to the Ultra Wideband key technology and the broader suite of security features that exist in our latest vehicles. WEAK INTERVIEW: JLR Land Rover could have dealt with this problem DIRECT AT THE FACTORY BUILD by having GHOST 2 Can bus IMMOBLISER fitted as standard (each car has individual switchable controls to start and drive the car). Their CEO should have been a politician, lying through his teeth and reading from a script: for sure I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER RANGE ROVER product ! FACT IS, JLR are not clued with security. Avoid this product unless you want HELFY INSURANCE FEES.
Further to my previous post i have been in correspondence with the JLR insurance underwriters. They will not underwrite any of my vehicles - 23 plate RR, 21 Velar or 19 Disco for a 50yr with +10 yrs no claims and no convictions with the cars garaged all under 7k miles and SD&P only - why? the postcode is "B" - Birmingham (which covers about 50% of the west midlands so even JLRs underwritters dont believe the JLR spin on security as theft levels in the West Midlands are at epidemic levels. So JLR how do i get my deposit back! The only B is the BS from JLR - the enhancement makes no difference to JLR own insurers i am sorry to say.
Hi, Some customers clearly are happy with a little more inconvenience over greater security, is there any change the option of needing to enter a pin code could be added to prevent starting the vehicle. This would the also protect users who had the keys stolen as well as the process of remotely making use of the keyless RF. (even if this is selectable in software for the user to choose, like how they can disable keyless entry), Also can't geofencing to the app be standard. With all the connectivity and tech in these cars they should be impossible to drive away. Finally, Land rover have not taken this seriously early enough, you have profited off replacing stolen cars by having poor security, its only now that its going to seriously affect sales that you are tackling this issue. This could have been done ages ago, I really do hope you follow through to correct this for as many historic customers as possible.
Another easy software add (as the cars already have the Tech for this), would be it won't go anywhere without your phone being present. (the PIN code could be a backup for this if the phone was dead) That way you would not have the inconvenience of the PIN. I would happily put up with both and a long password being needed to override the phone not being there.
For keyless entry / start, offer replacement fobs that only transmit the RF within a minute of them moving (you can't get to your car without moving) but this will stop a thief retransmitting the signal from your house.
Hi Andrew, thanks for your informed comments and suggestions. Please be assured that our dedicated team of experts are considering all options when it comes to vehicle security, this is an absolute priority for us. The security of our vehicles has been at the forefront of our engineering and development for many years. At the point of launch, older models were equipped with industry leading technology and security systems, but theft methods have rapidly developed over the years. To give older vehicles our latest security technology, we are upgrading them with the same levels of protection as current models. This includes updates to the Body Control Module (BCM) which prevents thieves driving a vehicle away without a key. So far, more than 75,000 updates have been made and we continue to work at pace to benefit as many clients as possible. To your last suggestion, in 2018, JLR was the first to deploy Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) technology - a mitigation of the relay theft method you mention. We are committed to keeping ahead of criminal theft trends by reacting and evolving quickly. It is a business priority, we thank you for your comments.
thanks for the reply, my last suggestion was more as an easy security upgrade for people with older vehicles that predate this, my model has the UWB but is also going for a software update this week. Even if the new ones are safer, the theft of the older ones are affecting reputation which is in turn affecting new cars on insurance and resale value.@@LandRoverUK
Well my insurance has almost tripled since my first 90 in 2021, over £1k for my 23.5MY come renewal. Have a 24MY on order but that’s getting cancelled. Whilst mine isn’t as high as others, I’m not being held to ransom by insurance companies. 13 Land Rovers, I’m now looking elsewhere.
Patricks / JLR spin is simply not meeting with reality. As a 50yr old chartered accountant with no claims or convictions for SDP only and the cars garaged over night in the West Midlands (less than 10 miles from JLR HQ) - JLR insurance would not even quote on either vehicle 2019 Disco and 22 RR LWB. I would love to understand the Unicorn criteria that JLR insurance require to actually quote. While all my premiums have gone up this year, the JLR vehicles have trebled while the others have only doubled. It looks like its a BMW X7 at renewal then. I echo the comments below about the spin over substance JLR approach - "its not a recall" but it affects every single JLR vehicle - it might not be a safety issue but it goes to the heart of treating customers fairly.

Or you could just turn off the passive entry system..... would solve a lot of problems yet it is not in the owners manual... plenty of videos available showing you how to do it
Fair challenge to all questions. I love JLR products and I wish the company all the success they are due. However as a person who experienced the thief of my Range Rover Sport, I have to say "too little too late". Why did JLR wait until insurance firms decided that the car was uninsurable for them JLR to further invest in vehicle security? Would I be right in saying that JLR enjoyed the increase in sales while cars were getting stolen and owners required replacements.
Hi Paul, Thanks for your comment. It is an absolute priority for us at JLR that clients like yourself never experience this type of criminality. At the point of launch, older models were equipped with industry leading technology and security systems, but theft methods have rapidly developed over the years. Our teams are engineering our new vehicles to be resilient against the methods we know criminals are using and are rolling-out this technology nationwide to older models, as part of a £10m investment. We’re doing our best to educate insurance providers on the security measures we are taking to improve perceived risk. These measures are two-fold; first, demonstrate the security credentials of our models currently on sale, and second, to use what we’ve learned about thefts to provide a fix for those models now out of production. These issues are a top priority for our business, so that our clients can have the best possible ownership experience. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover
JLR insurance brings the benefits, including repairs using genuine parts. He failed to mention that rumours suggest that there are hundreds of cars waiting for parts, which are currently unavailable 😂😂
When RR owners are seeking quotes for JLR insurance and get the dreaded "sorry we cannot offer you" at this time message. No information is shared as to why the decision, chat support handlers also dont have access to any reasons, yet Patrick and team clearly are pouring over this data every day. Why not save all RR owners time and state - No London post code owners are able to get a policy, JLR Insurance is not fit for purpose yet the company are really leaning into it.

Although the market had a temporary spike in residual values, the latest data indicates this is now stabilising. Range Rover, Defender and Discovery residual values are the strongest in the Premium Large SUV sector. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover
Jlr will never come back from this. The company is finished. The reason you can't get your warranty claim, there is no money. Same as any other company, to many managers on the take. Its like Bl in the 80's.
Why do JLR not back the BEST security device on the market. THE GHOST IMMOBILISER. ? I understand that some insurance companies don't recognise this system because it's not approved by Thatcham, why is this? It is not possible to steal a vehicle which has this fitted by driving it, it would have to be picked up and carried away.
Not convinced on this interview, seems orchestrated. Like the thefts, how many per week say in London? According to the DVLA, Range Rover models were the second most stolen cars in the UK last year, with more than 5200 (both new and used) taken.
In fact, the latest Police National Computer Data shows that we are ranked fourth last year (November 22 - November 23). With a 26% reduction in thefts - the highest reduction of any OEM, the second being 15% - evidence that our latest models are resilient to theft. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
Here’s one real reason they’re getting stolen The engines fail and need replacing JLR refuses to replace under warranty So many are stolen, engines taken, the rest of the car is then destroyed and disposed of
It’s important to note, that many of these headlines are based on old data, in many cases, it is only relevant up to March 2023. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
My range rover is currently locked up for weeks as i cant get quoted insurance. In house denied other insurance companies has denied. I dont care about the high prices i just simply cant find insurance. Disappointed.

Well done JLR! It’s great to see things are far better than the anecdotal things being mentioned on other you tube channels. I think those RUclips channels need to sort themselves out with the real story and put pressure on the insurance industry to get back to a competitive pricing practice! JLR are a great company and have done more than the others to sort this out. Bravo

Hi Lenny, our insurance product is based on a rolling monthly subscription model to provide the highest level of flexibility for our clients. The monthly price is guaranteed for 12 months, and clients can make any changes, renew, or cancel without any charges. There is also no up-front deposit or interest charges. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover
This is very sad on two front, 1. that JLR seem to have no clue how serious the theft of cars were before all this blew up in the media. 2. as attractive they are to thieves why on earth is JLR not actively tackling the crime in partnership with the police. Have heard horror stories of people buying JLR vehicles and within a week it’s been stolen. WTF?
Got a 2016 RRS car with my hard earned money, managed to get a qoute last year but its for renewal in the summer. Scared i wont be able to get a qoute. JLR is the stress of my life right now. The brands damaged, never will i buy ever again.
Question to JLR: I have a MY2018 Velar D300, delivered in 09/2017. Will you apply your security update based upon the model year or does my car not qualify because it was delivered in late-2017? Is it the MY or date of registration/delivery? I’ve asked my dealer and all they say is that there’s nothing outstanding on the vehicle’s computer record. I look forward to your reply, please be specific. Thanks for arranging the interview. Insofar as these things can ever be, it was informative. David.
Good Afternoon thank you for your post. Please send me a DM with your VIN and contact details and I would be happy to assist you. Thanks, Katherine -Land Rover Team
This guy is confused, does he even live in the real world. 60 year old male no claims no accidents i have never claimed on my insurance policy 10 years ncb and yet i cant even get a single quote not even one, you are in denial my friend
JLR insurance is a waste of time. They said they were "unable" to quote for my 2017 L405 even though it has THEIR tracker on it and a Ghost II immobiliser that I had fitted at my expense
My RR was stolen in june 2021 and 2 years after I was still receiving messages that I left the doors open. These cars are amazing machines but unfortunately are very easy to steal….hopefully the new generation are better but the people lost their trust in RR…it is a shame.
Disappointed you didn’t address reliability? Been an issue for decades now with JLR products. I have owned LR’s since the late 70’s, reliability not such an issue then JLR just didn’t care. But certainly in the past 20 years or so has become something of a global motor industry joke.
So so glad I recently traded in my 2016 sport. Took a big hit on it in last 4.5 years ownership, but this will only get worse once the market is flooded with second hand vehicles people can’t insure. Very poor from JLR regarding how slow the updates were taking. Personally I will never own a JLR product again.
Didn’t address the massive depreciation issue that is related to the insurance issue. Great cars when they work but reliability and spare parts issues dog the brand. I have a 2022 Discovery Sport PHEV from new. Suffered from issues with EV which caused a breakdown and LR Assist damaging my car when recovering it. No support from JLR. Now huge depreciation and insurance quotes increasing by over 400%. 😡
Dear Paul, thanks for your comment. The industry figures on this are painting an upwards picture - December figures from independent data analysts show Range Rover, Defender and Discovery residual values are the strongest in the Premium Large SUV sector, offering the lowest levels of depreciation in the market. For context, reports of declines in used car values across the industry are in relation to the stabilisation of the market. There was a temporary spike in values as demand for used cars was at a high caused by the pandemic and subsequent semiconductor crisis. These are now levelling off as expected. @@LandRoverUK thanks. Unfortunately have already been through customer care who did nothing to manage the issue with the AA. Left me to speak directly to them even though I consistently pointed out I have no contractual arrangement with the AA. I called LR Assist and frankly feel LR should have dealt with the issue straight away rather than leaving me with a damaged car through no fault of my own. I provided evidence at the time that my car was undamaged prior to recovery that has been ignored. Even the service manager at Lancaster Reading said it was clearly bad towing technique that had caused the damage. Mistakes happen but the lack of ownership of the issue is unforgivable.
It’s all too late it is affecting sales in cities was about to buy a new Land Rover Sport my insurance company wouldn’t insure it in Birmingham used the JLR insurance quoted £3,500 for a 60 year old with the car on a gated drive . All the security updates will definitely help but won’t affect the desirability of the car just means they will find the next way of getting the cars .The figures he’s is quoting are cars stolen without keys so what are they going to do to get the car ….break into your house to get the keys . I didn’t wanted to go to bed at night worried if we were going to get broken in to to get the keys sadly loved the car but went for a BMW
Forget" sharing" JLR . You knew this problem from 2012 . Fix it and not from 2018 . The GANGS target because its easy. BMW -,Toyota and MB are more popular in África.

Range rovers were meant only for the super rich unless ypu buy a crappy lower model. You don't see any footballers who own one ever complaint about the cost to insure it😂😂. Stay out of a market you cannot afford jokers🎉
What a load of bull😢 with these insurance companies. Mine costing me 8000£ to insurance. There's an easy way to this, if the car is easy to steal, remove theft from fully comprehensive. If people want to get theft added they of to pay a effty price. Stop ripping people off.
Have Land Rover considered partnering with a recovery company to have 'boots on the ground' ready to react to customer thefts?, because the police forces are obviously failing the public in this regard. A systematic and fundamental confidence has been lost in both Land Rover and the police. I would be fiscally negligent if I were to purchase a Land Rover product for the above reasons.
Hi Joseph. Thanks for your comments. We are working with police and law enforcement on a daily basis, whether that's analysing recovered stolen vehicles or supporting criminal investigations to bring these criminals to justice. Our close collaboration with police also means our expert team can develop and deploy anti-theft measures to protect clients. To tackle the source of thefts, we are in talks about funding additional police resource to stop the flow of stolen vehicles and parts out of the country, which would benefit not only JLR customers, but UK motorists across the country. Our new models are resilient to theft, we're engineering our vehicles to be robust against the methods we know criminals are using. We are also bringing this technology to older vehicles, to update out of production cars with the levels of security found in our latest vehicles. So clients buying one of our vehicles today, can be sure it has the latest security technology available. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
It’s in fleet news from November. You can search for it and it mentions they are using Unipart.
In the meantime you are losing many many customers. 🤔
Yes insurance premiums are heightened at the minute in general, but none more so than JLR products. @@LandRoverUK
He was reading his answers off of his iPad

JLR insurance price rises are unparalleled by any other vehicles. JLR insurance prices are out of control.

Landrover insurance won't insurance me, as per many others.
whens JLR going to address the problem with the engine failure on discovery 4 s and 5s cranks snapping ,and oil pump failure
That ship sailed a long time ago. Flush all your fluids more regularly than they suggest

More waffle and nonsense. @@LandRoverUK
Charles, quotes are irrelevant what about number of policies sold??
@@LandRoverUK How many of those quotes became policies?
How far back will this be rolled out to? Any models pre 2018? Be more specific please on model and year ranges. Thanks 👍
But you didn’t answer the question - that really damages confidence in the brand
Yes sorry that didn’t answer the question, I’d just like to know if my vehicle will be included in this security update or if it’s ineligible.
New defender four months ago still no spare cover may look at hand back for breach of contract
@@LandRoverUK Great news thanks. Can confirm I have the LR badge on the back of the key.
@@LandRoverUK Is JLR going to be offering the upgraded software to vehicles equipped with UWB keyless tech?
When your car is in the garage for 4 months and you are still paying monthly for insurance, LR warranty and the LR subscription 😢
Are you saying Charles that Ghost products do not work with LR vehicles?
Not at all, we recommend Tracker's Battery Powered Retrieve unit, a device that complements In Control Secure Tracker Pro and can be installed in a variety of locations with minimal intrusion into the vehicle's electrical systems. This has been evaluated, not only for performance, but for its electromagnetic compatibility with our cars' electrical systems.
Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
Trackers are useless. All the thieves use jammers.
Why don’t you embed trackers in the ECU? Then program it so the car will not run with any other ECU. Having them as separate removable units clearly is too easy to remove. Alternatively, brick the ECU if the tracking system is tampered with.
Great initiative and very welcome
They are fantastic vehicles but now only for the very rich.
smart thing, no matter how good the car's security is, thugs can always break the window to your house....
We have 13 years no claim discount but still LR does not offer a quotation on a 2017 Range Rover.

I appreciate your response and regarding all premiums increasing across the board. I got a quote for a like for like Audi Q7 and the insurance was only £2k!!! Big difference, for just choosing a different brand which is now tempting me
Will the insurance reduce the insurance if modification has been done
No
Is it clear which vehicles need security enhancement? Eg Defender and Discovery MY21? 2022 vehicles keep being referred to…
2016 Evoque for 2 years was around £330 / year till last renewal when cheapest I could get to was £950.
Anyone who is unsure if they have received, or are eligible for the update should speak to their local retailer.
Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
How do I find out whether my newly purchased 2019 RR has had the security update?
Call your nearest dealer and provide reg/vin. I'm in the same situation with my 2019 RRS
We are still working on reaching as many clients as possible, and are working in phases as to not overwhelm our network of retailers, roadside assistance teams and authorised repairers.

Not overwhelm retailers??? Who are priority, clients at risk of theft or your retailers?
Not everything is accurate. I have just purchased a new Range Rover Sport last week, was assured months earlier that the insurance issue has been resolved. However, I struggled to get a cover but eventually did buy paid 7 times more than my previous premiums. Also, Land Rover insurance declined to offer insurance to me when I tried to get cover via their web site.
We’re sorry to hear about the difficulties finding appropriate insurance for your vehicle. We are working with UK insurance providers to improve the situation where we can, but the UK insurance market is currently depressed, with fluctuations in policy availability and premiums across the board. As part of our commitment to our clients and ensuring they’re provided with the best options, we are offering a bespoke eligibility-based UK insurance that is available now.
I worked for JLR for over 9 years (well, first 4 years or so it was just Jaguar as part of PAG).
A great company to work for and I can honestly say we did our best to make the product as good as we could.
We love to hear it! We're really proud of our vehicles and thank everyone involved in their development. Thanks for your comment. Kind regards, Charles - Land Rover.
@@LandRoverUK why turn out a product that is so easy to steal? A quick cut through the tail gate ,plug in and away you go, why did you allow that??
Protecting our clients from this organised crime is an absolute priority. We have a team of experts working closely with police and partners - our proactive approach enables us to support criminal investigations; spot emerging trends earlier; and quickly determine and roll out measures that counter this criminality.

To be clear, with the BCM update are we protected from the relay attack, or just them being able to start the car with their own key after hacking the obd port or cutting into wires?
Will my wifes Discovery Sport 2019 be due for an update, if so when

Recent models as well get stolen!
Please investigate!
Even newspapers in my country are mentioning it and mine (2023 l460) was stolen actually
“Our customers like the convenience of Keyless Entry”
Your customers also prefer not to have their cars stolen, I suspect more than they prefer keyless entry.
Your steering lock and pedal lock are just as useless in afraid

WEAK INTERVIEW: JLR Land Rover could have dealt with this problem DIRECT AT THE FACTORY BUILD by having GHOST 2 Can bus IMMOBLISER fitted as standard (each car has individual switchable controls to start and drive the car).
Their CEO should have been a politician, lying through his teeth and reading from a script: for sure I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER RANGE ROVER product !
FACT IS, JLR are not clued with security. Avoid this product unless you want HELFY INSURANCE FEES.
I wonder if they will do the new hardware upgrades to the new ! owners in the Middle East

@@LandRoverUK Thank you for the response. I hope to be a JLR owner again soon.

When RR owners are seeking quotes for JLR insurance and get the dreaded "sorry we cannot offer you" at this time message.

WTF?

Question to JLR: I have a MY2018 Velar D300, delivered in 09/2017. Will you apply your security update based upon the model year or does my car not qualify because it was delivered in late-2017? Is it the MY or date of registration/delivery? I’ve asked my dealer and all they say is that there’s nothing outstanding on the vehicle’s computer record.
