Timeliner auto-linking rules are great in Navisworks

Timeliner auto-linking rules are great in Navisworks but it needs a property on your 3D models or selection sets with names that match Timeliner tasks fields. If you have to set the property or build the selection sets manually in the first place, that’s a lot of manual work for an ‘auto-‘ something isn’t it?
but the good news is there are couple of alternative ways how to deal with it. (bear in mind, still needs some manual work...)
I think the best way is to create parameters and set them into the parts with dynamo.
and the second way would be using external data source connection over SQL from Data Tools(in Navisworks) or BimSens plugin (transfer to properties)
Data Tools feature
needs to write a SQL query in order to link a data source and create 3D model properties that match with Timeliner tasks. But transferring speed is fairly slow.
Therefore, my favorite is Bimsens plugin. Because It enables dynamic association of Data Sources and 3D objects from Navisworks or Revit, allowing color filtering, data transfers, and editing of the data directly from the model.
