Petrol or Diesel Engines, please note there are several sensors attached to the engine which are used for sharing critical feedback to ECU for idle running of engine spraying water can damage them. Once we tried the same with Innova and ended up damaging the AirMass sensor.
Yes brother you can use normal water pipe with small amount of pressure before that you need to apply little diesel mixed with soap solution on to the parts later you need to wash it carefully..you can also use pressure washer but with little pressure..
I own a Punch Adventure model. Last time when I pressure washed the engine bay that boy might have directly hit water to the ecu or whatever module that controls the accessories. I observed that the infotainment system was not turning on correctly even after a lot of try. It started exactly after 80kms of drive. Hence, do not pressure wash without knowing the proper details of your engine bay.

high end cars have superior sealing of wires and sensors. i owned skoda superb and rapid. nothing happens. only thing is u have to use wide spray. just cover ECU unit as its outside tends to get corossion.

Engine compartment should not be cleaned with water at all. Sensors, electrical connectors, alternator, horn, ECM, ignition coil, fuel system might get affected. Some professional car spa perform steam wash however, its better to avoid the above mentioned parts.

Old vehicle were used to wash with pressure gun after covering distributor cover, intake airhorn and on a disconnected battery terminal.
High end vehicles as on today, especially with electronic and software applications should not be washed with Pressure water.
Modern vehicle engine compartments are to be airbrushed and dried again. Not to use any chemicals or foam liquids or sprays.
But it is common, Customers are getting satisfied with a shining Engine. So dealers are washing the engine and making it shinny with water and chemicals.
If you will wash it then, Remove a Battery terminal. Wash it. then dry with Hot air and dry all terminals and terminal caps.
Do to leave the engine connections and terminals in a wet condition, Apply PJ sprays in all terminals.
Reconnect the battery terminal after drying and through checking and start it.

Never Pressure wash engine bay area better to use water from mug and brush in hand or water from hose
Plus a diesel water and soap mix will do wonders. Just don't spry on any couplers and open wires.
