Un sublime interprétation de cette symphonie de Brahms. Outre la sonorité de l'Auditorium de la Maison de la Radio qui est incomparable, il faut saluer les tempi choisis par le Maestro Krivine et les excellentes prestations du flüte solo, du trombone solo et du timbalier solo. A réentendre.
Kultivierte und elegante Aufführung dieser perfekt komponierten Sinfonie mit gut harmonisierten und perfekt balancierten Tönen aller Instrumente. Der zweite Satz klingt echt schön und flüssig. Der dritte Satz klingt lebhaft und herrlich. Der intelligente Maestro dirigiert das ausgezeichnete Orchester im gut phrasierten Tempo und mit perfekt kontrollierter Dynamik. Es gibt nichts überflüssiges oder ungenügendes. Das ist auch Brahms!
Je préfère la prestation du philharmonique de radio France, et la direction de M. W Chung, plus douce, plus mystérieuse, plus calme, mais ce sont 2 excellents orchestres, de toute manière!
Can always rely on Emmanuel Krivine for a great performance. There are few conductors today who are so consistently excellent, similarly the Orchestre National de France. Though my taste in music mainly revolves around early to mid 20th c there are notable exceptions of course and the Brahms symphonies are some of those, I first heard this symphony when I was around 16 and have loved it ever since.
Poor camera work in my opinion - a mixer who doesn't appear to know the score. Examples. 5.36 important solo oboe(s) entry not shown, in favour of 2nd violins accompaniment. 7.59 oboe entry cut short in favour of pan to conductor. 9.36 front row of woodwind poorly composed generic shot/location. 9.50 solo winds not shown in favour of general view of orchestra (and conductor's back) from audience. I could go on, but i think this proves my point. The camera work for the Cesar Franck symphony was vastly better than this in my opinion.

This orchestra, this conductor, never disappointing. So intensely, beautifully rendered music without a bit of haste. And the strings are gorgeous!
