THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! This is exactly what was I looking for with the measurements. And then you have the pdfs!?!? Amazing😊❤. Again thank you
No new videos in 3 months. I hope everything is okay. I think you’re a great teacher and have been looking forward to new lessons. Hope to see you on here soon.
love your videos, learnt a lot of new things. thanks
I just unsubscribed as you seem to have abandoned your channel. I've seen you post on other stitcher's channels, so I am glad to see that you are alive and physically well. Many of us were worried about you. It would have been nice if you had posted a quick note to your subscribers/viewers to note that you were stepping back from your channel for a while so that we would not have been so concerned.
Thank you! You are, indeed a clear and thorough teacher. I've stitched since the 70's (though a decades long break in there) and I'm learning so much. Setting up for my first full-coverage and with your help I'm going in with confidence. Thank you!
Here is a trick if you are not gridding and you have a long row of stitches 😉 when you are doing the Danish stitch count 9 first legs and on the 10th stitch do a full cross and go back to counting 9 legs then do a 10th cross. This is an easy way to keep a count of your stitches at a glance in a long row.
That's the best explanation and demo of gridding with Sulky Sliver I've ever seen!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year for 2024! Just happened to find you this morning. Will have to watch you again, as there is so much info in your video. Tailors tacks, have heard of them, but have never done one. I have just bought a full coverage chart, not started yet, but now that I’ve found your video/website I will have the nerve to try it. Didn’t know you were gone as I had never seen you before. You are a great teacher, I’m just a slow learner. I’ve been stitching since about 1965. I just subscribed and hope to see more of you. Thanks for the lesson.
I love your website with all the goodies, its obvious what a wonderful teacher you are.
Haven't seen you in awhile, where are you? Any plans for more videos? Your channel has been the most analytical clear set of videos on cross stitch that I've seen!
Wonderful tutorial, great description and showing what she is doing.
Very informative….thank you. You teach in a clear and methodical way. I didn’t know about the different gridding products and will look for them at my local shop as I like dense stitching in my projects,
Another great video really enjoyed it. First time I have seen someone gridding with sulky sliver. Have seen it on blogs but it was clearer watching it being done
I miss you! I hope you post another video soon. I really miss your lessons! Hope all is well with you and yours.❤
Missing you . Found your channel & looking forward to more . Hope all is well . ✌️💕🙏
Another great educational video Laura. Thank you. I definitely have to practice with the laying tool. I bought it a while back and when I was stitching holding my q Snap in Hand, it worked fine. But now I work two handed on a lowery stand and I just don’t now where to put it. 🙈 learning curve. Thanks again. 🤗
Glad you liked my video! It takes a bit to learn how to use a laying tool. It kinda clicked for me after a while and it’s a great way to increase coverage and make prettier stitches especially with blended colors, which is used a lot for Scarlet Quince projects.
Thank you for this beyond helpful video. I’ve only started cross-stitching in the last month and your advice is already helpful. I look forward to implementing your tips!
Just popping in again ! Merry Christmas to you & yours ✌️💕🙏
Thank you so much for the videos. I wished I had found these before starting my first full coverage project.
Very informative flosstube👍😊 i will definitely try the tailors tag ( a new one for me😁) and i love the THINK BEFORE YOU FROG...its like in social media THINK BEFORE YOU CLICK😁...will wait for the next one👋 Keep safe😊👍
I really like tailor’s tacks too. They’re such a good way of marking locations and make counting easier. Glad you found it helpful!
Love these intro videos. Looking forward to video 3 in the 102 series.
This is soooo good! I'm slowly getting hooked! :)
Missing your videos! Come back. :)
I recently found your channel and I have learned so much! I hope you are well and look forward to your next video.
Hi Laura
Hope all is well with you. Have enjoyed your videos and learned so much. Also taken your product recommendations LOL Looking forward to more videos.

I havnt seen you around lately and I hope all is well and I hope you've enjoyed the royal needlework courses
WOW, she is really great
Thank you so much
Hope you are well, haven't seen you in a while. Best wishes
Hi P!! --Jaime
Hi laura how are you? Thank you so much for your fantastic work with all your tutorial
And I see I've been reading my Easy Grid Aida incorrectly! But my pattern is super simple, a series of 12 squares that radiate out from the center stitch of each one, so I think I'll be OK.
Loving your series of videos Laura! Excellent information. I’m interested in the Arabeska scroll frame. I see there are a lot of knockoffs. Can you point me in the right direction? Thank you and I look forward to your next video.
I'm so glad you like them!
Here's the link for the frame on Amazon. The shop is AllAboutEmbroideryUA. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DZJVY5L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
A lot of info today. I use Markup R- XP and love it. Haven’t tried diagonal on it yet. Any suggestions regarding needles. I’ve broken 4 just today. Ordered #26 from Amazon. Same problem with John James. They break in the eye. Thanks.
Thanks for your question, Sharon! I use Bohins and Pat's Favorites and have John James Crewel needles and as far as I can remember, I've only broken one needle. Since it's happened repeatedly with high quality needles of a couple of different brands, I'd start looking at other factors. Have you considered the tension you're putting on the thread as you stitch? Frog a few stitches and take a look at the holes in your fabric to see how much they're distorted under as much magnification as you can get such as zooming in on a photo on your phone. On Aida, the holes will become a tiny bit enlarged from the needle passing through but the threads in the weave of the fabric shouldn't be distorted at all. On linen, the threads shouldn be out of place a tiny bit at most.
I wouldn't recommend changing your tension in the middle of a project since it'll probably be visible but something you might try is to test your tension in the margins of your project that will be covered by a frame/ mat. Do a test stitch of 3-4 rows of 5 stitches to get a block so you see how the stitches lie next to each other. Use the highest magnification you have available so you can really see what's happening as the stitch seats on the fabric.Start with the tension as you do it now and watch it very carefully. Then repeat paying attention to barely seating each stitch. Slow down pulling the floss through and closely watch the threads as they meet the fabric and as soon as you feel a bit of resistance, stop. Now you have two tensions to compare. Frog a few stitches from each so you can compare what's happened to the fabric. You might need to do a third trial with an in between tension to find the one that gives stitches you like but doesn't distort the fabric.
If you try this, let me know how it turned out. I hope this helps!
Thanks, I’ll try your suggestions. I noticed I’m not coming up straight, therefore bending my needle a bit, which all adds to stress on the needle. Thought they’d be tougher. I’ll also look into better needles. Looking forward to your next video.
Re: checking thread count, would it be a good idea to stitch a vertical row also to make sure the fabric doesn't have an uneven count? I guess this might be more of an issue with "evenweave" or linen but could it be a problem with some aida as well?
Even though I'm using Zweigart EZ grid for my recent start, I still used tailor's tacks. I'm going to do a temperature chart for 2022 that will have 12 center points, not just one! Thankyou for that recommendation.
What is the advantage of starting in the top left corner. I've been cross stitching since 1977 and I always begin in the center of the fabric and the center of the chart. I didn't used to need griding, but working off a pdf on my tablet has become crucial.
Are you coming back?
After watching this video for about 15 minutes, I can tell you that I will NEVER start stitching in the corner. Beginning at the center of both the chart and the fabric is FAR easier that starting in the corner!
Can you stitch by rows and columns in the same project or is that not a good idea
Are you okay? I miss your videos
Can you please go slower with your stitches
Sure! Something you can try is slowing down the video. You’ll find the speed control in the upper right corner in the three dot drop down menu. It’s a handy trick though I’ll sound a bit like a demented stoner. 🙂
@@piros44 Or on YT, the "gear wheel" in the lower right will get you there! ;-)
How exciting that you have brought your skills to the fiber arts community! Thank you for such easy to follow and expertly crafted presentations!!! Are you on facebook and instagram?
