My father worked in an arena as an electrician. He met many, many stars over the many, many years he worked there. Quo were playing one night and Rick had a problem with his air con. My dad went into his dressing room and sorted out the problem in a few minutes. However, he never left Ricks dressing room for nearly an hour. Rick was chatting to my dad and my dad to him…….about life, family and other things. My dad always says Rick was the kindest and most considerate person he had the fortune of meeting in his line of work.
I plumbed Rickys washing machine in when he lived in West Byfleet. What a great guy, I stayed all afternoon, He showed me around and even let me play his ten guitars and then he bought the drinks out. He was a lovely man always giving to local charities in and around woking. He kept a bubble car in his garage, when i asked him why, he said so I don't forget where I came from.Rest in peace mate.
Thankyou so much for remembering our Rick. Quo were a part of my childhood and i even named my first born son Ricky back in '86 after RP. I agree that Rick didn't have as much tv coverage after his passing, but you've done him, and all of us, proud today ❤
Rick Parfitt what a legend, loved Status quo. What beautiful grounds of the crematorium shame he hasn't been interred there , the lake is so lovely. Thank you for showing the blue plaque
Thank you for giving a lovely tribute to Rick Parfitt. Met him in a Indian restaurant near me and he was the perfect gentleman. Plus he also had a infectious giggle which made everyone smile. God bless you Rick and once again thank you Paul x
@@michaelkarlsson5966 I don't agree. His rhythm playing behind Rossi was unique. He used the heaviest gage strings you could buy. .14 .17 .26w .36w 46w 56w. I have played guitar for many years and I can assure you I can tell the difference.
Its different. BUT you only can hear it in the Intro of caroline and when he play the Solo on rockin All over.... i miss the long hair and the way rick moves. More important for me is francis voice and his Solos. I love cut me some slack
I had the honours to meet Status Quo on a few occasions when they hired stages at Pinewood Studios where I work to practise for many of their tours. Rick had the quickest wit of any men I have ever met, to me a perfect friendly nature. A true proffessional in every way when it came to his music, he knew the music industry inside out. Not many groups are capable of keeping up with over 50 years of constant touring, giving so much pleasure to so many different generations. Rick lived his life to the full,, worked hard,,, played hard. Would he have wanted anything different? ,,,, Yes it finally cost him his life. If Rick was re-born today I don't think he would change a thing. Thanks for the music mate
When I was a Veterinary Nurse back in the eighties I met Rick Parfitt when he brought in his latest Samoyed pup, I just said Hello he's sweet, to that he picked the pup up on his hind legs and said just look at this belly I squealed in delight at the fat tummy of the pup. I found him to be a really nice guy and very down to earth and was sad to hear about his passing 😢
Great video as always Paul. I met Rick in a night club in Slough many years ago. A really nice guy, that chatted for a few minutes, and bought me and my mates a drink. I've also met his son on several occasions. He kept his motor home at the same place we kept our daughters horses in Nottingham. Rik junior lives in a very exclusive part of Notts, sharing the road with the likes of Freddie Mercurys mum and sister at one point. I think Rik spends a lot of time racing saloon cars around the country and Europe, hence the pretty impressive motor home. He has a striking resemblance to his dad, and also very friendly.
My parents always watched Status Quo rehearsals at Chiddingfold club. My dad said thanks for this video as my dad was a naughty boy and often drank with Rick. Bought him back memories.
I briefly met Rick parfitt in 2000 in brighton at my old job currys one evening had the pleasure of saying hello and and helping him with what he needed believe it was a camera anyway great guy loved his music .
First live gig i ever went to was Quo at the Hammersmith Odeon back in early 80s. Still etched in my memory is Rick giving it the beans at the start of Caroline, the track they always opened with. My love of live music was all because of the impression that show had on me. Thanks Rick, may you rest in peace and keep rockin in heaven.
I met Rick at the Midland Hotel in Manchester in 1989. He gave me a signed pic. He was really friendly and polite. Him and Francis are brilliant players. And think that got overlooked massively.
First gig I ever went was the Quo. Grew up with and loved their music when i was a kid back in the 70's. And loved the music they were putting out in the 80's. Have said it so many times, we all owe so much to musicians like Rick - can't imagine a world without music. And here in the UK we have been blessed with the quantity and quality of musical talent that's come out of our small island nation over the last 50 or so years. Lovely to see you remembering Rick like this. Thank you.
Oh brilliant I can’t wait to see this Status quo has always been my favourite band and I finally saw them live when they came to Shetland Will definitely watch this when I get home from work
Miss him so much 😢 When i was 11 years old i opened the Blue for you Cover and saw this wild Boy in his Coca Cola shirt, i was lost ❤ I had the pleasure to met him many Times and he was always friendly and have fun. To stand in front of him when he was playing it was pure energy. When we flight back in 2016 from Liverpool to Dortmund we heard the bad news😢 Christmas will never be the same. Thank you so much ❤ Tommy & Manu
Absolutely love Status Quo & seen them & Rick a good few times. Grew up with them in the 70's when they were massive. Rick Parfitt always came across as a lovely fella too. RIP Rick ❤🎸
A superb guitarist, an absolute rock star who enjoyed what he done and made a lot of fans happy, gone too soon. R.I.P. Rick and thanks for making the video 👌
Yay, I love the mighty Quo! Rick helped to create some truly memorable music that has stuck with me since I was a kid, and what a rhythm guitarist too! Very much looking forward to you rocking all around the graves at 7! ❤🎸
Rocking all over the world was the first song I remember of quo when I was in my teens, went to see on their end of the road tour 80s, God I miss groups like this😢
Thank you for remembering Rick I first saw Quo at Donnington in 82 and must have seen them at least 40 times over the years so glad I saw the reunion tour of 2013/14 RIP Rick and Alan 🎸 🎸
My life changed when I saw Status Quo live in Palais des Sports-Paris-1975. Rick became my hero. I was 15 years old. I changed my classical guitar to an electric guitar and I spent hours and hours to learn the rythmic parts of their songs. And I still play some of them. I miss you Rick. Thank you Paul for this video. A french Quo fan. 🤘
Hey Paul, been waiting for this a long time, i purchased the single Paper Plane when i could afford it all them years ago , it was on the vertigo label which sent me in a spin when i played it. There will only be one Rick.
I used to live in Bermondsey and went to school in pages walk just off tower bridge road . Where on a Thursday quo would practice in the Oxford and Bermondsey club in the late 60 . I used to sneak in the back and watch them play . A free quo concert every Thursday. I have seen them many times since then but your right Rick was quo
Thank you Paul and welcome to Woking 😁 The school opposite the crem was my secondary school and I used to go and feed the ducks in that pond when I was little 😊 I saw Quo supporting Queen at Wembley. Lovely tribute to Rick 🎸
I made a comment saying Rick lost his son but I apologise, it was his daughter, I remember when it happened but post covid brain remembered it wrong.. That was a very touching story of him Paul, thank you, I knew it would be.. The guitar flowers brought a tear to my eyes xx
I remember Rick came into the ceramic tile shop in Teddington that I worked in about 1988. He bought some floor tiles and then came back to pick them up in his Rolls Royce! I put the tiles in the boot of the car and off he went. Happy memories.
I remember Rick coming into the little chef I was manager at he was one of the most polite people I ever met, he and his (bodyguard) friend had an Olympic breakfast toast and marmalade coffee galore when it came time to pay his friend had to pay for the meal as he said he’d forgotten his wallet but I did get a signed photo
Hi Paul status quo was number 1 group for me in the 80s l love that group so much I have seen them lots of times rip Rick we love you anyway thank you Paul for doing this ❤
Another beautiful place. I love the woodland look too. I often wonder why some famous people grab big headlines when they die and some very little. It doesn't seem fair somehow. Margherita time was my favourite. Thank you Paul.
Rossi and Parfitt met at Butlins Rick was in a band called the highlights, and the green guitar Rossi uses is from 1963 and he bought it for £60 back in the day(I made an error on price)
Thanks so much for this video, Rick was a fabulous guitarist and really made the instrument talk to his listeners and fans. Some of the very best rock ever came from Ricks harp and we are totally indebted to him for the great sound of Status Quo. RIP Rick, you have left the stage mate but still thrilling so very many!
I'm a life long Quo fan. Still listen to their music every day. Rick passed on my birthday so now each year it is tinged with a bit of sadness. He is the best rhythm guitarist out there. Thank you for this Paul 💜💜💜🎸🎸🎸
I went down to Woking with work last year, and I took a bit of time out to visit 101 Queen Elizabeth Way, his childhood home which he always credited with making him the man he became, it was emotional to just sit in the car outside that house, taking it all in.
Thanks for sharing this. My late father was a massive Quo fan and saw them live several times. Very happy memory's.. Rick thank you for the music
What lovely video celebrating one our great Rockers, Paul Love the Quo music for 40yrs. A stand out performance with Francis Rossi was on Exmouth beach early 90s when Radio one show was in its pomp. Sad Rick had so many health issues and passed too soon, unfortunately like so many top guitarists. RIP Rick.
Thanks for the video & remembering Rick. I met him numerous times, he always had time for people, he cared about the fans & was always a good laugh. More than anything though he was dedicated to Quo & gave 100% every time. RIP Rhythm King 🎸🇬🇧
Rick certainly did care about his fans. I spent time with Rick, Francis, Alan and John backstage before an appearance at my local ballroom in 1968. I still smile of memories of Rick going overboard trying to impress my mates and I to be fans of Status Quo. He needn’t have worried.
I see Tommy and Lily quite often at The Quo Experience gigs...Tommy's following in his dads footsteps with guitar. Thank you for another respectful video Paul x
