No one... and I sincerely mean, "no one," will ever even come close to this timeless radio man. Don Steele was one in a trillion and I am so thankful to tvfats and others for keeping his controlled cacophony alive. Just like Tina Delgado! Don rides with me everyday in the car. What an amazing man.
Best Top 40 Jock of all time. These behind-the-scenes calls show that Steele was a kind and good human being... not just the most talented top 40 jock ever.
Love the "shtick"... the jingles and commercials of American radio. It inspired the Pirate radio stations here in Britain back in the early sixties and revolutionized broadcasting for us. Big thanks for that.
I won a Kinks album from The Real Don Steele as an adolescent-one of the high points of my life! When I got an excellent after-school job, I also grieved to work during TRDS’s hours...
"Ball Of Confusion", Jack-In-The-Box, Tarzan yells, ... and The Real Don Steele. Who could ask for anything more? It's Friday, so I'm looking forward to this evening and this week's rerun of Real Don's 1980s/90s-era syndicated "Live From The '60s" show, on CKWW 580AM. (It's what's left of mighty boss radio station CKLW, The Big 8.) Three straight hours we're excused from having to hear any gub'ment-mandated "Canadian content", and a memory trip for me back to when I used to listen to Real Don on KRLA, KODJ, and -- later when I'd return to Los Angeles on vacation -- KRTH.
Phil Hendrie was highly influenced by The Real Don Steele. He said Don could introduce Good Lovin' by The Rascals so fast he did it in the 1-2-3 song intro.
I've been LIVE on the Radio for 51 years (worked LA 3 times)..My biggest Thrill was when my Radio Hero "The Real" Inroduced me NEXT as Little Andy Barber from Glendale on Ten -Q KTNQ/L.A.
You got that right. Radio's ills were self-inflicted. By firing all (or most) of the announcers, the deejays, the news reporters, they cut the soul out of the medium, which is a shell of what it use to be.
I used to listen daily as a kid on my GE avocado green am clock radio I got from my grandma. The Real Don Steel and The Dave Hull Show. I miss the Hullabalooer. I met one of the dancers from his tv show. The hot blonde Kam Nelson. I was but a young throbbing boy and I remember it like it was just last year when it was almost 50 years ago. God damn, she was hot.

The best in Boss Angeles! Very cool to get these between the breaks off-air clips. Thank you!
Yes! I've never heard an air check with off the air conversations before. I didn't realize he coached the callers before putting them on live.
Back when you had radio personalities!
Pauline Garcia exactly. Now they’re all voice tracked robots.
@@ChadQuick270W which really stinks now

You are NOT a real REAL DON STEELE fan until you have seen him in both Death Race 2000 and Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park!!!
LA was the greatest place on earth to be a teenager in the 60's
Yes Poly High in The Valley!!!
For all the “young ones” out there 93 was 930 on the AM dial. 👍
This is history
it was like listening to my transistor radio late at night during summers of 1970's

Exactly! Live local radio with DJ's who made it fun unlike now. Radio is is just a sorry sad affair now

The Real Don Steele did a short cameo on "Bewitched" - 3rd season, "Samantha for the Defense," originally aired Dec. 15, 1966.
And it's right here on YT.
THE ENERGY!!!!
