Even if they kept the rail engine and did drag runs with it, they could just make it a bit more stable. Lower the seating position a bit, move the rear axle back about 6 inches, and with drag rail style front wheels, add in heaps of castor like they did on the rail. I mean really, the only problem is the weight balance of it being too far rearward in relation to the rear axle. If they really wanted to go nuts it'd be quite possible to make a whole new chassis under in in the style of the rail or chop down the rail chassis since its bent and just mount the mower bodywork on top :-)

In 2009 I ran a full season of lawn mower demolition derby. My modified mower ran 40 mph reliably and we were intentionally crashing into each other exactly like the cars do. Dumbest damn thing I ever did. It was fun and I still build engines for folks that want to derby and race mowers but I would NEVER do it again. I have seen oilpans do it. Just a place dust sticks to on the weld. It would ta look e a million years to leak a pint. So, it'll be fine!!!!
Glad Ike wasn't hurt badly. As soon as I saw that rear-end lock up, I knew exactly what happened. The same thing happened to me with a $20 go cart that had a worn out Briggs when I was a teenager. I was going about 35 (with a cute girl on my lap) and as soon as I came off the throttle the belt wedged on the driven pulley and locked up the rear-end. I got it unstuck just like you guys did in this video and it never gave me another problem...until a few weeks later when it pulled the wrist pin out of the piston. Lol, that wasn't the converter's fault though!
All this because the engine blown up, another thing, you’d think they learn not to run it after what just happened but you’d thought wrong! They say it’ll be fine but I don’t think it will be fine, I mean they welded the head, WELDED THE HEAD, and lke sthil drives it around the parking lot,
They didn't blow the engine, the torque converter belt got down into the rivets on the driven pulley, and caused everything to lock up. I've had that happen in my kart with a 420 predator. Definitely feels like a locked up engine when it happens though.
+Ruby Dacherry, I assume you mean fixing the head? That shouldn't do anything to the performance at all. The engine would run with the hole in it... it would just leak very very badly. The only real issue with that hole was that it needs to be solid to contain the oil, nothing more nothing less. Now if combustion chamber of the head was cracked that would be an issue but if we take his word for it it looked good and the crack didn't get close to it. So it should still be pretty good just wouldn't win any beauty contests.
I am glad that Ike will be okay and just had some road rash. It would be great to keep the mower powered by that great sounding engine and put the Ducati on the rail. I bet you lost some power with that riggary
Doubt it. They did nothing to the performance.
That mower sounds sick guys
I am glad that Ike will be okay and just had some road rash. It would be great to keep the mower powered by that great sounding engine and put the Ducati on the rail. Please keep the mower going and don’t take it apart. My grandson would love to be able to be around you and John and help y’all build anything.
Maybe y'all should enter these lawn mower quarter mile races! Love that "and my prides hurt". Work on something like that and THIS happens, I bet it was.
Wow! Nice save, so glad it was only into the galleries and not into the combustion chamber, that would have made it so much harder!
You guys are such a power couple!!
Wtf is that supposed to mean??? That's as confusing as your name...
Don’t give up! Custom tube frame, wider stance, lower center of gravity, mower in name only!
You got a problem with getting rid of projects before they are even done fully this mower deserves to live YOU JUST GOTA MAKE IT SAFER I believe in you guys and ik many others do to
dag nab it!! you guys have me hooked on your videos with that 670. Thanks, also glad you guys are unscaved and got that beast running.
Sad that mower got messed up. But I'm glad Ike is okay, could have been so much worse. God bless you guys keep up the great work!
Gutted for you guys..........glad ikes all good though can’t wait to see the mower rise again
I had a situation very similar to this. Just so happened it took a chunk out and I found it. JB welded it back on after cleaning it thoroughly and it never gave me any problems
On the plus side, whoever welded the scoop mounts, it held up really good! Glad everyone is ok.
I love u guys. Ike keep your head up hope and pray for fast healing.
You should call it “50 shades of insane “. 👍👍👍
When you said "we're gonna take the hood off" all I could think was--- Because Roadkill!
That is just.... amazing. What a series of events!
May the killer mower rest in peace 😔 better to shelf it than have something like this happen again. Definitely one of my favorite builds you guys did. I'm thinking this one and the amphibious boat take the win because how unique and weird they are lol great content overall though. Wish I could do something like this
I'm glad y'all guy's got it fixed
was loving the video ...untill you said were gunna say goodbye to the mower build... NOOOOO dont trash the idea KEEP IMPROVING IT .. this was a build that made me stoked to watch the next... Please do not be scared of this :) make it better !!! this mower build was a great one and the speed and the hot rod look all of it
Glad Ike is okay. That engine sounds mean!
Heck yeah dudes skill and luck got er goin again. Ike feel better man take a few days off to rest and heal up.
9:27 I really like the way the engine sounds
Especially at 10:02
You gotta keep working on that mower it's gotta be the most exciting build I'd say hands down that thing is the best. Make that into a drag mower!!!!!
No!!!!!! the mower is your best project!!!!!
When Ike said and my pride hurts my reaction was “awww Ike it’s ok buddy”
You're gay...
watched the video of this happening last night... came home today to this video. ah its a good day
Nooooo definitely one of the coolest things y’all built!! Keep it around.
Fellas! JB weld it! Seen JB weld hold things as crucial as front timing covers on 4.6 Ford's. Should work great on this!
Glad you walked away God bless brother
It was NOT fine! Glad Ike is alright
Glad everyone is ok
That’s the best sounding engine you guys have built in my opinion
Epic. Guys, good job. I wish I was there to weld it up proper for ya, but....
It’ll be fine!
Pretty sad to see it go but I understand. Glad yall are safe!
Congratulations. You now have me wanting to build a cb400 powered lawn mower.
