    Una de las mejores versiones de la canción del Sauce del Otello verdiano.
    Voz dulce pero dramática.
    Grandísima soprano Schwartskopf. El llamado final a Emilia es para llorar por su belleza y presagio mortal.
    Gracias!!!

    Y'know, I've listened to Callas, and this, and they are both great, different though they are. Toward the end of his life, Verdi in my opinion became more "German"--some Wagner had rubbed off on him--though still remaining Italian. This music has a universal quality, and it makes no sense to say that Schwarzkopf didn't understand it. This is a wonderful performance.

    Es gibt wenige, gelogen, Momente, die mich berührten, das ist definitiv ein Ereignis. An Schönheit Innigkeit kaum zu überbieten, nun gut es gibt Maria Callas, keinerlei Abstriche an meiner Einschätzung, aber hier griff noch im Vollbesitz ihrer Kräfte jemand auf seine/ ihre Überzeugungskraft zurück. Eine extrem unterschätzte Platte.

    Por que no tenemos una sola cantante como ella o Marcella Pobbe para que nos cante Otello en éste momento? Es una pena saber que sólo podemos conformarnos con éstas grabaciones mientras en los teatros nos dejamos romper lo timpanos por cantantes que osan cantar Verdi... Finalmente Callas tenía razón. El autor ya pensó en todo. hay que hacer lo que él dice y tener la humildad de respetarlo.

    This has always been my favorite version of this two layered piece. Schwarzkopf, despite her great proficiency with Mozart and Strauss (as well as, of course, lieder), should have incorporated this role into her stage repertoire. Her Desdemona sounds truly frightened, vulnerable, and tragic in her innocence. She sets the scene before you as no one else, and turns what can be a boring dirge into an extremely moving and poignant piece of music. Schwarkopf was indeed a great artist.

    • @jasonhurd4379
      @jasonhurd4379 5 лет назад +2

      Schwarzkopf went on record stating that it was her dream to sing Desdemona onstage, but the role was never offered to her. Pity.

      Her own calendar shows she sang the whole role in concert just once under Bohm and very early in her coloratura period.
      She was scheduled to do it in Vienna much later
      but cancelled "illness".

      She sang it at least one more time in concert. In Paris, Salle Pleyel 1966(?), Klobučar conducting. It was recorded on video and released on DVD.

    What a shame Dame Schwarzkopf never made a complete studio recording of Otello. Imagine her Otello is Jon Vickers, and her Iago is Tito Gobbi, I would sell all of my Otello recordings to purchase that one :)

    What? Can you read the score? Then do it. You'll see that she executes every one of the score's demands. No legato? Really?! Can't you hear? She's singing all of them, perfectly! "Portamentos are more scooping"? What the hell does that mean? If the score is demanding a portamento, how can it be a scoop?! Do you even know the difference between scoop/portamenti/glissandi/legati?

    It seems german singers will never get it with the italian manners and style. Too short notes here and there, no legato, portamentos are more scooping or glisandos and it is truly horrendous. I disagree with everybody here. The worst Salce, Aver Maria I´ve heard... is this!

    • @franziskakre8309

      But there are only a few italian singers who can sing Mozart. No Italians who are capable to sing Wagner, Lieder and Bach.

    She never have the material to be "the best". Starting with voice, and finishing with style, the glisandos, scooping instead of portamentos, make her interpretation the worst I´ve heard. A comparison with Callas is a sacrilege!!!

    • @franziskakre8309
      @franziskakre8309 6 лет назад

      It makes no sense to compare her with Callas, indeed. But they were two different kind of singers. Callas was very good with italian operas, in Bel Canto, but she could not sing Mozart (and, of course, no Wagner, Bach or Lieder). Schwarzkopf was great with Mozart and Lieder, but it was true, she wasnt a Verdisinger.

    • @jasonhurd4379
      @jasonhurd4379 5 лет назад +1

      @@franziskakre8309 It is not true to say Callas sang no Wagner. Before her international success she sang Isolde, Kundry and the Walküre Brünnhilde. And as for Schwarzkopf not being a 'Verdi singer', whatever that may be, her Willow Song and Ave Maria disprove that notion. Her Alice Ford under Karajan is excellent, as is her Violetta with Panerai, and de Sabata said her singing in the Verdi Requiem had spoiled him for any other soprano. But you, apparently, know better than one of the greatest conductors of the twentieth century, so just keep making your flippant and odious criticisms.

    • @fabriziogarzi9892
      @fabriziogarzi9892 Год назад

      @@franziskakre8309, la Callas sapeva cantare Mozart alla perfezione. Non lo ha frequentato perche' non gli interessavano quei personaggi. Basta un'aria dal Ratto dal Serraglio per capire. Semmai era questione di cultura e non di canto. Schwarzkopf era una pessima mozartiana, era verista. Una cantante tedesca verista che passava per raffinata stilista solo perche' cantava la Marschallin al posto della Norma e i lieder di Schubert e di Wolf e aveva accesso a Salisburgo. Aiutata dal marito discografico.
