    For sts base signal is 51.8mbps, for calculating the bit rate of stm-4 we have to use base signal of stm-1 which is 155.520mbps, so 4*155.520mbps will be the bit rate for stm-4

    Mam I beg to differ, STM and STS have different frame structures. STM-1 consists of 270 column and Line rate =155Mbps approx

    there is confusing between STM and STS frame in your explanation , since in your slide it's all about sonet .

    1. Path terminal equipment : Is this CPE (Customer Premise Equipments) like GPON, Splitter and ONT/ONU ? If yes, then all of them are not electrical parts. Please clarify.
    2. Are you talking about backbone core network or access network ?

    Madam,
    Better revisit the lecture (specifically portion around 11 mts) and remove the confusion between STM and STS .These terms are used almost synonymously .So obviously no. of columns pertaining to overheads etc need to be worked out properly.
