Alternately, I've been using a hair net to hold my hair together without it moving around too much at night. Then put on my bonnet. That works especially after hair dries so my hair moves around less as I sleep so there's less friction.
Hi ~ Great idea! I'm curious, does sleeping with the hair net under your bonnet help reduce tangling? My hair is shoulder length and gets awfully tangled, leading to breakage 😢. Thank you.
Thanks, Gena! I wash and style my hair at night. I diffuse and root clip when it's dry. I leave the gel cast in, but don't use a bonnet, just a satin pillowcase. I usually still have a cast in the morning! Works great for my curls!
Thank you for this video. I used to a couple years back sleep with my c3 curls wet. I was a nursing assistant so I had to fully shower daily. So basically I never defused my hair. It always made my scalp sensitive and my hair a little wonky. But for 3 years now I’ve been faithful to defusing my hair. Plus with your tips I’ve definitely stepped up my curly hair routine. Thank you for another great video.
I finally found someone with similar hair. Ytubers with this curl pattern often have dense hair. I am happy I have found someone with a similar pattern, but thickness and density too.
Oh my god. I was getting worried about tension on my hairline and was trying to find better ways to protect my curls. I'm absolutely guilty of both covering my curls when they're still wet and using a pretty tight wrap at that. Over time I'd been noticing build up/dandruff particularly on my hairline and should've put two and two together. Thank you so much for not just explaining what you're doing but the why behind what you're doing. And thank you for showing so many various options. Going to try some of these tips!
I have been binge watching your videos for about 2 weeks now. That’s when I first found your channel. I love your videos by the way. And your makeup is always so beautiful. I have messaged you a few times about my hair. I want to ask if you have used the curlmix brand. Particularly the curlmix wash and go flaxseed gel and the curlmix wash and go Finishing mousse. I have used it twice now and it seems to be working for me not to bad. I need to try it a little longer because I really haven’t been out in the humidity. I bought it at Ulta at their summer sale just recently for $20 and $13. It is regularly priced at $26 and $20. I hope it keeps working and works in the humidity. I know you know the battle with finding what works with your curls. Thanks for your videos!❤😊
Which way would be good to sleep with long, thick curly hair? Thank you for these great videos. I do now use Moptop curly hair custard. It's amazing stuff.
Great video. ..like all of yours! ;) I'd love for you to try the Moonstoneseven satin sleeper! It stays on and has been the very best sleep protection I have found.
Thanks for the video. I have been washing before bed for 3 years now, diffuse and then sleep with the cast. I find my mornings so much better when I haven’t had my caffeine. I used the old Redkin curl line and I didn’t care for the results. I don’t think I would try these.
Regardless of what i do, when i sleep my curls get flattened. I think my hair is just too fine to hold up to the pressure of my head on the pillow. Now, I usually twist up the majority of my hair on top of my head, clip it, and leave last 4 inches free. But that means the hair that was twisted will look wonky when i take the clip out. I never go to bed with wet hair. Day 2 hair is usually a bun or pony tail, not down.
Hey Gena, I love these bonnets! They feel great and stay on. However, I have short, thin hair, and the regular bonnets were too large. I ordered these bonnets in a Youth size, and they fit great!! You might want to let others know about this trick, especially those who love these bonnets but find them a bit too large.
For some reason, I alllways have a hard time making my bonnet stay in place. I’m an aggressive sleeper lol, I’m a side sleeper and I move around a LOT. I’ve tried using Bobby pins and clips to keep the bonnet in place but it just hurts my hair and they end up coming out in the middle of the night somehow. I’ve even used the ones with the wide elastic band, but idk, at this point I might try the silk scarf and see if it’s any different lol
I CANNOT get any kind of bonnet to stay on my head what so ever. If I try the pineapple with a silk scrunchie, it doesn’t stay either. My hair is what I would consider very thin and soft. No idea how it can be soft and dry at the same time but somehow here we are. I used to like my hair but now it’s thin and dry and brittle. Aging hair, coloring, hard water. All problems for me. So much of my scalp shows and I have a big cowlick right on the back crown like where you would wear a ponytail even though I never wear my hair up u less I’m just home in the summer in a messy bun. I’m hoping these videos help me. ❤
Can you make a video about how to protect your hair for when you go swimming without a swimming cap? I go swimming a lot in the summer and don’t know what to do for that.
I cover it here: instagram.com/reel/C79hBZVuQgl/ Another thing I would add is to apply an oil to your hair before getting in the water, or wetting it with clean water and applying a conditioner or leave-in so your hair soaks that up first and the chlorine or salt water won't absorb as much.
I have shorter hair than you, but similar in texture. I have to shower at night due to my job. A big problem is that I have a cpap, and the mask runs on top of my head. I wear a sleep cap, but it does smash down the top of my head. I don't know what to do anymore. 😢
Hey Gena, I’m a high school student who washes her hair at night without styling my hair. I wear a silk bonnet and I also have a satin pillow case. I usually wet and style my hair in the morning because I’m still getting used to embracing my curls and I don’t really know if I really should be sleeping with styled curls. I have 2c-3a curls but my roots lay flat on my head. Any advice for a fellow curly-girly? (Sorry the message is so long lol, I just have a lot of questions)
This summer heat and this bonnet got me like 🥵 🥵 🥵 at night. Then I feel like my scalp is sweaty and I need to wash more often which is not ideal. I swear it’s like I can’t win with this curly hair. Sleeping on a silk pillow case alone is not enough to keep my hair looking good for several days. I feel like I’ve tried it all and not having much luck lately. 😔
I can’t seem to find a strong gel to get a cast. I have to dampen my hair with gel every morning. My curls are not as curly as yours unfortunately. I just don’t know what else to do 🤷♀️.
Omg I can’t believe that in the 90s I used to go to sleep with wet hair and in a pony tail. Now it makes me cringe. 😮😮 No wonder I have so many scalp issues now.
Great video! How about those caps that come with a long hose you attach the hairdryer to? (Don’t know their name). Could I use those instead of a diffuser? I have very fine hair with lots of grays and lots of frizz 😢

Great video! Thank you for the information and all of your videos are helping me with my curls😊
I am loving these videos. I have struggled with my curly hair my whole life and your tutorials are so helpful!

I think your curls look beautiful in this video.

Thank you for this video. I was finally able to wear a bonnet 🎉

A bonnet that is larger, or simply a scrunchie "pineapple" style and a silk pillowcase
Great video. ..like all of yours! ;)

Hi. Another good video. Size of the scarf please. All Imsee are too small ones.

Great tutorial as always. I always hover my hair a leave a hair clips. Can’t wait your review of redken

Where did you get the spray bottle?

Hi Gena! What size is your scarf?

It wasn’t common knowledge then! Still isn’t! Glad you changed up your routine 🙌🏼

I’ve tried a couple of them. I personally am no a huge fan. I feel like the air doesn’t distribute evenly
You could try that, but a diffuser is going to be more ideal
@@GenaMarie thank you! I’ll try it right now as I just washed my hair this afternoon
