After watching this video I thought i would try it for myself. Hopped into a custom battle in my trusty MiG-9/L, and fought against a mig 15bis. The second i noticed him diving on me, pulled the throttles closed, pulled hard on the stick and kept fine control on my ailerons, rolling out of his gunsight constantly. To my surprise, even though he had airbrakes deployed, he eventually shot right passed me. After some more turnfighting i managed to get guns on target and eviscerated his mig. 1200 hours in war thunder and I'm just now discovering one of the most powerful defensive strategies I've ever seen O.o
+KingAwol Probably sets the a key to roll left, d key to roll right, w key to pit down and s key to pitch up. That's what I do and my god it helps tremendously when you're looking back

ive never seen a plane folllow a fw190 in a dive especially when its rolling they just rinse and repeat dives till the fw 190 runs out of altitude thats why this kind of tactics doesnt really work anymore
Hey Messer_smitt - great flying. I learned a lot how to handle german planes in RB just by watching. But doing it myself is not working. Something is different with german planes then to all other nations. The problem seems to ly within the controll settings. I changed not much (just the acceleration and pitching keys switched) and I do not know how it was before but when trying out RB (noramlly fling arcade) the german planes exclusivly sometimes lock up (not high speeds etc) and do not execute the controlls I put in. As an example when I preroll to the side and just want to follow the mouse cursor a bit to the side, the planes simply does not follow that controll input and it is so often the split second that kills me (or costs me the kill) which is really frustrating. Watching your videos you do not have that kind of problem in the same situation. Can you help out? :)
most have been wrong when answering the question how do you watch enemies behind you and control your plane? it's not the free look mode with your mouth there is an actual "look back" mode to which you can assign a key

I often find that I have a lot of trouble evading Focke Wulves that dive from direct above and direct behind. Seems I can never maneuver enough to counteract their roll rate.

+James Gilmore Works fine on Doras; and for leading the guns, that just comes with prectice and experience, there really isn't a faster way to lear it than to just fly planes with the same guns over and over and over again until you can aim them good.

put ur power on 80% for the radiators to open fully to cool ur engine down more, otherwise if you cut throttle game will shot off radiators for less drag.
Could anyone tell me what defensive maneuver this is? I've Goggled various lists of air combat maneuvers and online flight simulator books,I can't seem to find a maneuver which resembles this slightly.
Zakinoor Abdisamatar Yeah, I know that. I have actually managed to break 1 spit and shot down another one using stock A5/U2 flying like in the video. But with spit IX or zero I usually get shot down while trying to roll, the random factor is not significant enough.

Which A series FW is this? The U2 or the standard A5? Also, which ammo type are you using for your mk's?
In the first clip he is in a A5, in the second one he is in a A8 and all the rest are in a A4. Hope this helps :D
A5/U2 has 2 cannons
A5 has 2 mg151/20 and 2 mg ff/m (you can see bulges under wings)
