I too was in Denver. He defeated the "Princes" of the Convention in New Orleans to get the job. They never accepted him. Taking advantage of weaknesses that we weaknesses that we all possess, the "Princes" came after him again in Denver. When I saw him give up the mike and tell his supporters "Let them speak, I turned to my Dad and said If I was them I would run NOW. One by one they came to the mike. The PRINCES. The ones who thought it robbery that a nobody had taken a rag tag band of nobodies and usurped their God given Presidential destinies. Outraged that Grace had prevailed and given this fellow another chance...even Old Caesar, whose powerful and famous sermon "Comeback" had to stand in awe. When those guys spent themselves, hooted off the stage and huddling in amazement and humiliation Henry Lyons came back to the mic and " lionized" all of 'em into oblivion. Listen, I know he like many of us, took deliverance for license but JHJackson made the Presidency into something only HE could manage, tho we have seen some great moments since," post Jack" is the real legacy which dogs the steps of the National Baptist Convention.

Please allow God to be the Judge, some folks just might beJealous of Rev Lyons gifts. We all have sins to account for, some folks want to put this man in Hell, when they themselves have premium reservations. Great, Pastor Lyons has humbled himself. Mercy Lord Jesus!

They let him preach and it saved his job that year, i was in Denver that year and the Convention was ready to get rid of him, but they let him preach and you can't do anything with an annointed man of God, no matter what he has done. Preaching can save a man or woman from anything believe me I have seen it.

God is a God of another chance. Lyon's is a totally different man. He was not bad in his first term as President he just got caught up in the hype. Forgive forget and let's just move on.

I'm sorry what do you mean? Dr.Lyons was in the pulpit the 1st day he got out of jail. I don't see him being President yet again but to say he's forfeited his reputation to ever serve in the pulpit ministry is a bit over doing it.

It's not surprising to watch this performance with the knowledge that he'd later be convicted of adultery and embezzlement of his own congregation. You can spit out scriptures all you want, and I can do the same right back to you. But I don't have time to argue with a blind faithed follower. So follow Mr. Lyons, excuse me, Rev. Lyons to the gates of hell if you must. But me? I'll follow Christ..not a greedy preacher.
