Collabs are great, especially when the collaborator has a know tuning preference, so the end user knows what to expect from the sound.
I think it's been pretty bad for the hobby. These companies had audio engineers but now it's being replaced with influencers. And now it's just endless. The idea that the world doesn't have capable audio engineers and you need RUclips celebrities to do it I think is pretty silky. It's a celebrity endorsement as much as it is anything else.
And since these influencers need a slice of the pie, it's raising prices for consumers. Everybody wins except for the customers. Honestly it's not all that different from Jake Paul selling energy drinks. Twitch streamer selling cookies or whatever....
Might have made sense to have one or two collapse but obviously when you now have 10 15 20 collapse from the same people it's pretty obvious it's not about identifying important sound signatures but just maximizing this window of profitability.

@@BadGuyGoodAudioReviews Could you possibly give some examples of the earlier (pre-2020) collaborations, by any chance? That's quite intriguing. The first collab I became aware of and the earliest one known to me in general is Crinacle x Fearless Dawn. But 2020 was the year I first got into the hobby. 😅
I found myself growing out of something that could be roughly called Crinacle sound towards your tastes with time spent in this hobby. I can't call myself a mud lover yet, but I'm close to being a mud enjoyer)
I'd love to see a Mark Ryan Collab some day. I think it would be something in the middle (which I think I'd love) and very interesting in general.

I really appreciate HBB's focus on drivers. There's hundreds of 1DD iems but the quality of driver and tuning matters a lot.
This set seems a really good contender for top tier 1DD
I think collaborations are ESSENTIAL for the hobby. Keep them coming please
As a big fan of the Aful Magicone (which I know - not your preference with the single BA bass and the very neutral tuning), it's super cool to see 3D printed resonator tech being explored with other drivers.
Congrats to Kiwi and Crin for making this tech more accessible.
I always appreciate your reviews, even though we don't have the same tuning preferences. Your descriptions of MUSIC is what sets you apart from the standard "more airy, more authority, more transparency" vagueness that permeates most reviews. It allows people like me (who prefer a different sound) to be able to get a lot of mileage out of your work. Kudos and much respect, as always!

The collaborations reflect the taste of a reviewer, his community and ultimately give the opportunity to generate approaches and ideas different from those on the market. They give variety.
How would you say these compare to the Chu II's? I just got my set and I'm loving the detail it has (I'm also big on sample-heavy/instrumental beat hip-hop) and seeing the added subwoofer on these makes me wanna pony up for the extra punch it brings.
The collabs definitely make the hobby better by bringing their insights to the manufacturers. We had KZ pumping out the same thing every month for a while, but now we have a lot more variety and competition.

lol love the cup segment, I've always welcomed collabs, I doubt big companies just halt everything to do one collab and are being held back.
I second this video, collab has been anything but helping this hobby to grow. I mean once your preferences are align wirh certain reviewer, rather than just blind buy without trying, that said reviewer is actually doing you a favor for this hobby. I'm not a hardcore for this hobby but I knew that once you reach a certain level of hardcorenest and passion for this or any hobby, you'll end up making your own thing to suit our own preference. Collab is just a great way to achieve this and share the joy with the community
I wonder why the resonator on this have sharp/boxy edges instead of smooth like in magic one or what we usually see on speakers?

After the EA500 LM I feel like I don't need any other single DDs in my collection. It's the pinnacle for me and my library. But thanks for doing this video because I was genuinely curious. The only IEM I have of Crin's is the KZ CRN which stopped working after about 4 weeks and had it's own controversy.
Very interesting to see that it has a resonator inside! Not sure if many other iems also have a resonator inside their shell, but I am looking forward if the use of it will be more frequent in the future!

I have to say that this advancement in technology got iems is fascinating to me. To have the ability to have such a tuck with one driver! I’d love to give it a listen for sure.
This is collab at the best, a prove of concept, pushing the hobby for the better. I'd expect this resonator as an analog frequency adjustment to be more commonly implemented in other later releases. Good job to Crin, and thank you for the call out about people bitchin about collabs in the end!

I haven't got a collab IEM yet, but it makes sense that someone who loves their music, and reviews audio products all the time, can have input on the design and tuning of a new product. I don't see how that can be harming the hobby.
It's been going on for years. The better tuning in $100 and below market coincides with collabs...it helped the whole hobby. Or drink hateraid
@Anyone; What's your take? I currently use a Wave XLR to power my mic and headsets. Would I be gaining much by investing in separate DAC and AMP currently? I only have HD560S and Truthear Zero Blue, but do plan to upgrade in coming weeks.
How are these compared to the ea500lm? I saw people sharing tweets Crin made saying the ea500lm was "mid" just as he's about to have this release. That type of behavior does come off as disingenuous and just money motivated. Some people do just hate Crin's guts. There's that one kid who's probably the worst reviewer on youtube, asked him his testing methodology and what he listens on and he deleted my comment, who seems to have made tearing down Crin his life's goal
I'm still thinking the LM is the best in its price range. This is crin polishing his own prefered tuning and I think it came out real good. Gotta recall I was not a big fan of TE Red. This is tuned better and sounds like it has better driver than red has...in my opinion with my library

Kiwi Ears has been pretty solid for a year two now and kind of came out of nowhere.

hexa is probably still better in separation and micro nuances, but it's significantly more boring without EQ
Take out the tuning filters from the hexa if you want improved sound well you can keep them to where you can put them back in too don't tear them up
I just ordered the 500LM a few days ago... Here we go spending money again! I love Kiwi Ears products and daily drive the Orchestra Lites, so these are a must buy for me!

I know comparisons so early on can be redundant but, what do you think about this vs 500LM?
I got the LM, mostly because for my jazz portion of my catalogue, the resolution for the price was convincing, but I love hip hop too much to not be swayed by bass either, how is the balance on this set for resolution/bass u think? Should I cancel my LM order if that's even possible and get this or is the bass on the LM good enough for classic hip hop without sacrificing the detail?....or should I stop yappin and wait for the review. 😅
I had say wait for the review, if you are curious about the set, you can cancel the lm if you want to no big deal you can order it later too.
Anyway i have also ordered the LM it's on the way
With no EQ, you won’t like the bass on the LM for classic hiphop. Although it lacks in that department, it excels in majority everything else. You can always buy it later down the road if you want.
Source: myself. tested just now (bad comparison but I compared the bass in LM vs. xm4 headphones). I don’t have a good bass iem 🙃

The resonator just boosts the frequencies it targets. In this case the Subbass.
Colabs are VERY necessary because you guys know how to tune way better than I do!! And at the end of the day, the reviews will suss it all out. So... when you know the reviewer and his flavor, it's a yard stick that I can accurately measure a particular product by...
