    I asked my dentist if he could make my canine look like an incisor which I know is a definite possibility but he said "oh it will be a lot of effort for me to do that" well... Yes but it's your job and this is my mouth which will look like this forever 😂 it seems like all the dentist's I have been seeing at the moment just care about whatevers fastest and easiest for them. I wish they cared about the patient and not just money.

      I had the same issue when I was 13. I fell and broke my lateral incisor. I had a RCT, but it was unsuccessful, so my dentist decided to remove it before the orthodontic treatment. It seemed a good idea at that time. Now at 31, not so much. My Smile is narrow and it bothers me. Of course I can transform the canine into lateral incisor and the premolar to canine… but I am trying to find a good orthodontist to find out if I can move back the upper lateral teeth so I can make space for an implant.. If I can turn back time, I would opt for a Maryland bridge for the lateral incisor and in time a bone graft for an implant.. but that is just my personal opinion and experience. I hope you made the right decision for yourself and are happy with it. Good Luck!

    I have one lateral missing which caused an underbite/crossbite. I’m about to go through the process to get braces in order to make the space for the lateral in order to correct my bite. Do you recommend making room for one? Or pulling two teeth from the bottom to correct my bite and then getting veneers to correct the missing lateral?

  • @elspoofs9663

    I'm going to be getting my braces soon because my teeth are pretty bad! 2 of my premolars are rotated 90 degrees 1 on each side and 1 of my canines are also rotated 90 degrees. My orthadontist said this has happened because i have 2 missing laterals and so has provided my other adult teeth to grow in wherever they want and had no guidance. i've consulted with my orthodontist and I am going to get the canine substitution to make my canines looks like laterals but there's so much space to close up first so that's the last thing that will happen. On my bottom row, I have another 2 adult missing molars and don't have any wisdom teeth so my baby molars that are there now will be removed and braces will have to close the gap. I really wish i just had normal teeth honestly i probably won't be done with treatment until i'm 20 and i'm 15 now coming up 16. :(((

    Hi! Can you please answer this if you have time. First of all I am 17 year old girl. I have a tooth gap between my top central incisors (goes from 1mm to 2 mm at bottom). I also have a tooth gap between my central incisors and canine (1mm). I am also missing my lateral incisors but there is no gap showing that. My teeth are all straight and I would really like to get rid of those gaps. Do you think they will close once my wisdom teeht grow out. What's your opinion and what would you recommend me? Thanks! :)

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  4 года назад

      With wisdom teeth generally do not have enough forward force (on the other teeth) to close spaces. The position and spaces between your teeth are in an "equilibrium" position and most likely will not shift without help though braces, invisalign etc. You need to also factor in growth in the jaws that may continue past 21 years old. Self correction of spaces and tooth position is rare. I hope this helps.

    Dr which type of preparation did u use for transforming the canine into a lateral , i hope there is a video to it

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  4 года назад +2

      It was just a porcelain veneer preparation however you need to reduce the bulk from the neck of the canine and reduce the width. So it's not as conservative as a minimal preparation porcelain due to the shape of canine

    I had used dental braces however after treatment I lost one of my incisors due to orthodontic problems(I guess the root has been melted). Then I found a surgeon who did me dental bridges. I have been using like 2,5 years in this period we had to change bridges because it displaced several times. Now I have troubles like my saliva getting an increase, lose the bite and also when I drinking cold water, rinsing my mouth and biting foods which are tough, I feel pain in my teeth.
    I hate this treatment I wish I didn’t do this but some doctors said that missing teeth cause some negative situations. Our plan was to gather the incisors and apply implants to laterals.
    Now I have a dental bridge on my six upper front teeth and there are 3 roots on them. I don’t know what to do what are your suggestions?

    How much does it cost to have the canines transformed into lateral incisors, and then the molars into canines? Is this 4 porcelain veneers then?

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  4 года назад +1

      This depends on how many transformation is required and more important what end result does the patient want. There are 3 options: 1. polishing and reshaping - very low cost. 2. Bonding with composite resin - $400-500 per tooth or 3. Porcelain veneers - $1800+ per tooth. The treatment options and this the cost is related to what needs to be achieved and end result the patient requests. I hope this helps

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  4 года назад

      Yes you are correct - the options are dependant on many factors - you smile, bite, lip support, room for teeth, profile, etc. For example, if the smile looks narrow and there are some spaces, the option to move teeth and create a spacer implants is greater than the minimising the number of teeth and reshaping the canines to laterals. Each case is unique and you need to look at each case individually to get the best longterm result. Hope this helps. X

      Yes, reshaping or polishing is possible. Discuss this with your dentist or orthodontist and have this completed during or after the braces are off. The canines are important "sliding" teeth for the bite and should be adjusted carefully not just for cosmetics but also for function.

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  3 года назад

      Lateral substitution is still okay if there is a discrepancy in the jaw size to the number of teeth or the size of the teeth. If there was crowding issues and insufficient space for the permanent teeth lateral substitution with the canines maybe good treatment however this may create some minor problems to cosmetic as noted in the video

      Hi doc, Im 27 yo, on my first dentist, they’ve remove my third molar, because they’ve suspected it was infected, i think it also contributes on my bite changes that, may or may not be the big factor on my tmj problem, i’ve been using splint for 4 years,my first dentist, also decided to remove my braces even my bite was not corrected at all. She just cement my front incisor and canine teeth to close the gap between them and made it as if it was real teeth, and made me use splint, she also suggested me some procedure like deprogrammed for bite correction, it was very exhausting.. and most of the time,, expensive, then I decided to change my dentist..
      Right now im on my 2nd dentist and her dental plan is to expand my arch, correct my posterior crossbite and replace the missing 2 lateral incisor with dental implant.

    Hi Dr. I hv missing incisor on one side and a baby tooth on the other side, it's going to be extracted soon (I have braces on). The problem is, the tooth next to my baby tooth is first premolar followed by canine. My orthodontist suggested me to go for tooth implant or crowning to fill the gap. I don't want to opt for neither because it's out of my budget and Ive had spent so much on braces alone and had to undergo two minor surgeries. However, the first premolar tooth which is in the wrong position is causing slight discomfort for me to chew and it's going to be even more if the tooth were to be next to my front tooth after the extraction of baby tooth(if I don't resort for either crowning or implant). Do u have any suggestions? 😔
