SERGEANT TELION in warhammer 40000 Sergeant Telion of the 10th Company of the Ultramarines is a legend of that chapter. When I was a Marine I saw the old adage "people rise to the level of their own incompetance" ruin quite a few careers. People who got promoted too soon, or to positions outside of their ability to master often ended their service broken. The best leaders I ever met had the humility to acknowledge their own shortcomings and refocus their efforts onto what they were good at rather than chasing medals and an extra stripe or star on their collar. I'd trade a cocky captain chasing medals for promotion to Major for the calm, quiet, professional but humble Sergeant who is just worried about getting his guys home any day of the week.
My God @Baldermort that first two and half minutes was a master class I wish more "leaders" would take to heart. Well said sir. Now to settle down for the lore. :)
Those couple moments were likewise special and I will cherish them. Baldermort gets it, how to write a great fantasy story but also how fill out the world with names of varying import.
[Telion, Baldermort & some recruits on a Force Reconnaissance mission] Sergeant Telion: (raises Bolter) I see some Orks over yonder hill.. Say Baldy why don’t we take these recruits over & teach them the most important lesson for today.. Baldermort: Oh..? Sergeant Telion: Do try & make some time for Fun. >;)
Forget all your preconceptions of war, of battle lines clashing on the churned ground. Your mission is to attack before the foe even realises that the war has begun, to strike hard at those vital weaknesses that all armies possess, but that no commander will admit to. Under my tutelage you will learn how to seek out such fragilities and smite them with every weapon at your disposal. Master these duties and I will have nothing more to teach. You will truly be a Space Marine.
He sounds like the Autobot Kup. An old Bot that has so many stories and experiences that he could have been a Prime if he wanted to. Yet he is happy right where he is. In the thick of the action and parting with some tidbits of wisdom. Even if they are in stories that most groan on hearing.
Once again, blessing us with the best 40k content on the planet. It's already the best on RUclips, and Warhammer+ has nothing, so best in the world. IN THE WORLD!! ♥️
I’m sure many might see this as cliche but I really enjoy the lore for the marines/ imperium. Thank you for all your hard work. Wishing you many 6’s and for many 1’s amongst your foes
Hail Baldermort having discovered your channel a few weeks ago I look forward to your new content coming out caching up on your old videos your voice for me is now the voice of warhammer 40k
Wise words in the beginning of this one Baldermort! Unfortunately I know far too many folks at my job that could learn a lot from them if they listened and took it to heart.
One of my fav mini audio dramas had telion and a group of scouts destroying a chaos forge world, absolute epic short story can't remember the name had 3 on the disk I think
Now who does this remind us of? A teacher, and guide who remains humble despite his own achievements? One who can shepherd new arrivals and teach them respect and honour? .... Thank you for teaching us brother
The very first unique character i bought back in 4th or 5th edition i belive.. Still one of my favorites, even though i never use him as anything else but a basic repaintet scout model.. i really should get me a new one and make him as he’s ment to be, as Veteran Scout Sergeant Telion of the Ultramarines.. Yet another Great Video Baldermort..
They may not be my favorite legion, buy Bobby G has some good lads under him. You wouldn't see men like the good Sergeant in the IV or the XV unfortunately.
I do have a patron: www.patreon.com/join/3510517 - but it would be best to sign up after Christmas, if you do at all. Honestly, a few shares here or there go a long long way. :)
Hey baldy just wanna let you know I love your vids, love this one too but If I may be selfish please more kronan da kunin fanfics or eldar lore. Yours truly, Andrew
Happy Holidays!! Telion is my favorite character so far. Many are brutal and brave to a fault. Not Telion. So Sir. What books can I read to find Telion? Is there any material that sticks out to you? Thank you for your work. Blessings to you and yours. Cheers!
Ahh, my favourite Ultrasmurf! Great to see 'The Sarge'. Tough as nails, carapace instead of power armor and a beard worthy of the Emperor himself. Love Ol Tel!
A jack of all trades is the master of none, err who said that? Not me I just heard it, so a touch of plagiarism is lobbed in for a laugh; as for sergeant Telion, his martial skills leave nothing to dispute, so a few kind words from our fearless uncle Baldy seem most apt. Thank you once again Uncle Baldy and Mrs B of course, great work as is your usual standards.
Telion may physically pass but they will force him into a dreadnaught sarcophagus. There is no escape from a Marine's duty to the Emperor, even in death Telion will serve.
A true test of a leader is to not take your possition for granted! Its earned through the respect of your peers. I got used to people following my orders because i had earned their respect and thus forgot to lead instead of boss. I stopped showing respect gradually becomming a boss instead of a leader and in turn lost the respect they showed towards me. Be mindful of one self least the leadership role twists you towards that wich you know you shouldn't be. a leader takes the time to make sure his people is on his side even if bossing might be faster.
You are mostly correct, about leadership. Except you should not expect something from your man that you can not do your self. And to be an example of anything you need to be good at it.
OK..So I just went from watching my guilty pleasure "Malicious Compliance" and "Karen's" before coming home to Uncle Baldy's house. And he tells me about shitty managers treating their staff like crap being weak and self aggrandizing. Have you been listening to Reddit Uncle B??? Lmao. But SERIOUSLY...It's The SRGNT. THAT IS ALWAYS LOOKING OUT FOR "HIS BOYS"....And A good leader KNOWS that in any group of people, there are strengths and weakness's, and utilizing these to work in conjunction with one another, will form a strong UNIT AS A WHOLE. And like the Phalanx Formation of the ANCIENT Spartans (Not those Git's that are the dogs of the High Lords of Terra mind you) They can attach with strength while covering their brothers with their shields. Using their individual strengths to make up for their individual weakness. And therefore the body AS A WHOLE IS STRONGER . Good leaders know their people. GOOD SHOW AS ALWAYS UNCLE!

Do you talk about ships of 40k?
I wonder what type of ships that the ultramars have, can you explain one day when your free?

I'm a simple man, with simple pleasures. I see a Baldimort video pop up, I click said video.
Sweet treat for my ears.
Well, now I just want to meet him in Space Marine 2. Watching this Seargent take to the field would be an inspiring sight.
Would love to see that. Be nice to see a few different types of Ultrasmurfs.
The most dad space marine to ever exist, besides maybe Bjorn. A perfect surprise after our yearly blacksmithing exams, thank you brother Baldy!
Blacksmithing exam's?
He is a battle brother of the Salamanders after all.
@@EctoToad Maybe he is an actual blacksmith learning the trade
He's no dark Angel but I do love videos of marines with a focus on Characters. Hail Baldemort for another fantastic video.
Praise the Servo-Skull.

Definitely no greater test of character than resisting the siren song of the Peter Principle.
Legend has it @Baldemort doesnt have to do retakes; he pauses as he replace his microphone due to it turning to gold because of his amazing voice

Based Baldermort spittin facts about good leadership in the first few minutes of the video.
Thanks for uploading Baldermort!
Ahhhh only 9 minutes….. I’d love an interaction be Guilliman and Telion.
Short and to the point! I always appreciate these histories of individual characters, and not just whole chapters or legions.
Glad you talked about this guy, he is pretty cool
I first learned about this guy thru the mobile game, I always wanted to learn more, thanks for this video!

In a way he kind of reminds me of Radcheck in Starship Troopers. I don't know why. Cool video brother 👍
I can imagining most of the captain and Sgt has once been train by him and that is pretty cool
Ok, I now want to use your beginning speech about a leader in a real-world business environment
Your description of a leader: 1500% agree
I have seen his miniature before but never played against him
Excited for Space Marine 2, Balders?
A Titus video will be awesome!
@@BohdanKaiba I agree!
A useful Ultramarine!?! Who has actually done more than simply have blue armour!?! MY GOODNESS!
In his Centuries, he's never found a Recruit that can hold the flashlight where he needs it.
Wonderful stuff thankyu lore master Baldermort thankyu good sir
GW needs you as a real life Telion
One of my fav mini audio dramas had telion and a group of scouts destroying a chaos forge world, absolute epic short story can't remember the name had 3 on the disk I think
A good Lt, Capt or Col is a blessing to a soldier but a top-notch Drill Instructor (and what they bring out in a recruit) is a priceless thing.
With the turns GW is taking, have you considered doing battletech lore? It seems right up your alley.
Sergeant Telion is the one who secretly taught Sly Marbo everything he knows.
LOL!!
Now who does this remind us of? A teacher, and guide who remains humble despite his own achievements? One who can shepherd new arrivals and teach them respect and honour? .... Thank you for teaching us brother
The true Angel of Death!
Recently grabbed him and filed off the UM stuff for a special scout sarge. Lovely mini

I could listen for hours to you Baldermort. I know not of this universe but it is intriguing notheless
Baldermort has blessed us!
Cheers!
I appreciate your wisdom master Baldermort.
Great pick I didn't see it coming. He is one of the few Ultramarines I like.
Not just captains but also chapter masters, he was calgars tutor as well, and i think either the chapter master before him as well.
Your opening statements on leadership describe the United States’ ex-Inciter-in Chief to an orange capital “T”!
Huzza!
Imagine a flashback in Space Marine II showing Titus training under Telion's tutelage!
Did you serve Baldy? Cause you get it brother! Finally some love for us NCOs!
Now THIS is a fellow I'd like on my side:)
so a blue version of Cyrus from Dawn of War 2
3 cheers to the scout companies
Never before have I heard the phrase 'rise up the greasy pole'. My mind took me elsewhere. I blame Slaanesh.

Yes inquisitor, this one right here.
oshit
I’m waiting for the story you are crafting at abundance tertius. 🥰🥰 so many characters, so many story lines all converging on one epic tale I feel it.
You made a fantastic point, and this chap is a really cool example. Are there similar stories from other chapters in the lore? a Blood Angel perhaps?
I hope they do a model refresh for Sgt Telion i got some kit bashing ideas but uea would be ashame not to have him get some love
Your point on leadership is dead fucking on man could not have worded it better
Baldermort needs to go back in time and recite his opening monolog to British command at the outset of either world wars.
As a former Scout for the Army, this video gets the official U.S. Cavalry stamp of approval 🙃
Always enjoyable. I thank you kind Sir.
As always brilliantly done. I certainly hope to make time for fun, my birthday started thirty minutes ago 🎉🤣👍🎂🐢🥳
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROTHER DAY!!!!!!!
@@Baldermort thanks for that. Everyone seems to have bought me whiskey this year, it’s a hard life, a single malt hard life 🥳🎂👍

hmm wonder if there will be a future add on video.. dreadnaught Telion ??
Sir Balders! Have you ever considered doing some tidbits on Gregor Eisenhorn?
