Fascinating...I sew but I don't machine embroider. I came across this while researching a project my son is trying to do for his fraternity. I now know I need to have him go to a professional...which we are lucky to have nearby. Great work! Great video!
I loved the tip about cutting a small hole in the appliqué fabric before stitched down to make it easier to cute out the circle in the number, I will use this in the future in all the designs that I can, thanks! I do remove my hoop from the machine and trim, very few projects can I trim while still on machine but you did great:)
Patsy McGhee I am so glad that was helpful. It truly makes it so much easier to remove that fabric in the center of a design without the fear of cutting a hole in the item.
I just did this for the first time the other day! I love it. I need some advice though with this being the first applique I've done! You mentioned your daughter has worn hers multiple times. Did the design wrinkle at all? I sprayed my shirt with water to get rid of the hoop burn, and the design puckered. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
the design did not wrinkle due to the fact that I used the Heat N Bond lite on the back of the fabric I used for the applique. Sometimes the puckering will happen if the knit was pulled to tightly in the hoop. Also some brands of stabilizer will wrinkle and/or shrink up when they are wet then ironed. Try cutting off the excess of the stabilizer as close to the design leaving about 1/4" of stabilizer.
Hey I just came across your video...can you help me? is there any way you can tell me what brand of stabilizers you use. thanks so much in advance. love your tutorials they are very informational and so easy to follow along
+Nikka Campbell I use many different brands. MEDIUM TEAR AWAY STABILIZER: amzn.to/2cyXoGN POLYMESH FUSIBLE STABILIZER: amzn.to/2ctdO52 HEAT N BOND LITE: amzn.to/2ctb4EV
I am very impressed by the quality of your design. I to have a Viking single needle, the Designer SE and the RubyRoyale. But I want to get into a multi-needle. What price range was your Happy Voyager ? I plan on looking at more of your projects.
+doratheexplorer49 I have a Happy Voyager 12 needle. I LOVE it! The hoop used is from Allied International. It is a squarer hoop which allows for more area to embroider.
Wow...great video. I too was wondering what machine you are using. At first I thought I was seeing time lapsed video it was stitching so fast. I am new to embroidery and just bought a Husqvarna Viking Diamond Royale. I assume stand alone dedicated embroiderers are much faster. Would appreciate some advice about that and why you use the machine you do.
+Althea Spence-Pavacic my machine is a Happy Voyager 12 needle. Some of the stitching part of the video is time elapsed. However, the machine can sew up to 1,000 stitches per minute! Being that I am in the embroidery business, I needed a machine that would sew my products faster and much higher quality than my single needle did. Once I did a shirt that was 36,000 stitches and it took me 2.5 hours to sew that shirt on my single needle (Viking Designer 1). That was when I knew I needed a machine that could sew faster therefore my daily volume output was higher.
this is a multi needle machine so there is a very narrow arm that goes thru the center of the machine. On a single needle, grab the rest of the shirt/item and use clips to hold the item to your hoop. This video will give you the idea of what I am talking about: ruclips.net/video/tEGORS5vnog/видео.html
Great video! Love the applique design. I never used a commercial embroidery machine. (I have a Babylock) Do you recommend using Happy Voyager machine for beginners? I have seen other brands at sewing expo's, but they look intimidating. Lol!
Thank you! For a multi needle machine, there is definitely a learning curve. Go to your local sew and vac and spend time there with them to learn the machines. Some machines you buy, they will teach you how to use them. I do not recommend the Happy Voyager for beginners. That does not mean you cannot learn it. It takes lots of time and practice! Good luck
+Heather A Stafford these scissors are by Gingher brand and can be found on Amazon.com They are called double curve scissors. Here is the link: amzn.to/2dn2UeH
Putting bonding on. The back of my app!ique. Its sticking to my needle.what dlo I do stop it? What do you have the. Bobbin set at? My stitches. Are real !oose. Re
I do not know what type of bonding you used on the back of your applique. You need to double check that what you used you are able to SEW thru. Some of the fusible bonding is not meant to be sewn thru, As for my bobbin, there is no number for me to tell you what I have it set at. You will need to consult your machine manual and also a service repair person.
The details you give juz make me get the idea how to do the applique. Tqvm.

I will try that. Thank you for getting back to me!
FYI blue painters tape works much better if you don't have to sew thru it!

I bought my Happy October 2013 and paid 10,000 brand new. It is an exceptional machine and have not had any issues with it! Good luck!
beautiful. i wonder which machine you have. i have an innovis 1250d. but the hoop is cumbersome. feels like im going to break it sometimes.

Thank you for the info. Your work is beautiful. Your daughter is lucky to have such a creative mommy.😉
How did you sew through just the top layer? On my machine, I would have to cut the side seam.
