The guy in the green hoodie is Really holding both voices together. His voice and his ability to hit those high notes is a crucial part of the song! Great performance that you could tell was live!
@@johnq60 Yes, I too love Ben Gibbard’s superhero power of having two voices at the same time. All these other “vocalist” chumps need to shape up, that one vocal at a time bullcrap is total bush league.
This performance is so great, it's actually a bit groovier than the studio version which is pretty damn awesome. Also I can't help but find it hilarious that so far there are two comments referring to Chris as the "green hoodie man" and none with his actual name LOL
2021 lead singer got skinny and the green hoodie guy is nowhere to be seen. Hmmmmm amd still this song totally jams especially when he kicks in with that higher pitched chorus .
I'm no expert, but through the power vested in me by the almighty Google search I've come to the conclusion that I'm pretty sure it's a... Harmony Stella H942 Because he is known to use a Harmony Stella H159, I searched for other Stella Harmony models and this one has the simple fretboard dot inlays and more subtle logo on the headstock, plus the red rosette, black pickguard, and white tuning keys, and it's a 000 or OM body style. They were built in the USA through the mid-70s but that's a rough year range (again I'm no expert). Also sometimes they are called Stella Harmony (but technically the brand is Harmony, and the model line is Stella). www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmony_Company reverb.com/item/5251729-1969-harmony-stella-h-942-acoustic-guitar-w-case-repair-project
It's really weird unless you've performed on stage like this. They sound out of key with each other sometimes because they can't hear each other. I've been on stage in a huge stadium and couldn't even hear myself. Could only hear a breeze. Bad sound tech.
2023... still a masterpiece ☺

Chris Walla! One of the best to ever do it.
Such a good point - he really enriches the song with his backup vocals. I think it's a major component that makes since song so ethereal. Gorgeous.
Don’t agree at all.. lead singer is the best and.
Your also not listening at all correctly.. lead singer is doing both low and high notes and I know this cause guess what bro I’m a singer..
