Prostate cancer is over diagnosed and over treated. Please consult several Urologists and read the literature. Any procedure has side effects the urologist may not tell you in order for you to sign up for a procedure you may not need end regret for ever.

Very informative Dr. Eric. I am 69 years old and getting my PSA test every year for the past ten years. Last year it was 1.9 but this year it came as 9.1. I am worried why such a big change in one year. I am trying to get an appointment with urologist through my family Dr. Any suggestions about this unusual PSA level. Thanks

A jump that big in a single year is more likely to be from inflammation than cancer, but it's definitely a good idea to get checked. At a minimum a repeat PSA in a few months would be a good idea.

My dad passed away in 2005 from prostate cancer that had spread into the bones. So I have been getting my tests done for a while now. I am a 52 year old male. In May 2021 my psa levels were 0.25. As of August 2021 my psa jumped up to 2.4. My urologist has me scheduled for the biopsy this coming Wednesday. I am quite worried about it. Thank you for your videos.

I'm 30 years old and my PSA is 8.75 with free PSA ratio at 0.07. I've done PSA multiple times in 4 months and my history results are:
    1. 9.55 (September 2022 - first check-up)
    2. 6.85 (October 2022 - second check-up)
    3. 6.78 (November 2022 - after 3 weeks of antibiotics)
    4. 8.49 (November 2022 - check-up at another hospital, after another 1 week of antibiotics)
    5. 7.03 (December 2022 - check-up at another hospital)
    6. 8.76 (December 2022 - after a course of tamsulosin)
The free PSA ratio was never higher than 0.08. Would you recommend to conduct a biopsy in this case?

I would say that a runner should back off from running before the psa just like you would for a race.
A day of recovery for every day run before the psa test.
My doctor told me that only bicycling would cause the Psa to go up. For me that was wrong. I also think the stress of going to a doctor raises the psa. It’s kind of like going to race. In the last half hour before the race you have urinate often but afterwards not at all.
    Do your own study!

Thanks Dr Eric, I have recently been diagnosed with prostrate cancer that has mastesised to my bones so seeing your prostrate biopsy video & this video has helped me understand the prostrate biopsy I have had and what PSA is. I have already been told my cancer is not curable, but treatment may help extend what time left I have.

I had my last PSA and it was 25. It had been 15 for years. I did MRI and my PI RADS score was 2. I am through with PSA tests. I have been watching this cancer for 7 years and I am lucky I did not do radiation or hormone treatment.

I had low PSA results for years... i.e. .46, .96 etc. The my dumb ass doctor put me on Testosterone Replacement Therapy and within 2 years, my PSA climbed to 3.3. I'm 72 and was concerned, so now I'm facing a MRI and uncertainty.....I would like you to address this issue of TRT and PSA...

Doctor Eric, I am 50, my PSA test result is below 1, but my free PSA ratio test result is 0.2, which is below the standard level 0.25. What could that mean? what follow up tests you will recommend?

    • @DoctorEric

Free PSA has no clinical meaning when the total PSA less than 4.

So PSA is involved in the thickness of seamen? Does that have any relationship to finasteride? Apparently it gives a Lowe psa rating but also makes seamen more watery
