Did a little binge watching this morning. Liking and commenting to help the channel. About to get out and enjoy the rest of the day now. I enjoyed my morning following your FT adventure. Cannot wait to continue.
A trick I came up with for night road waling in groups is that one person puts their head lamp on backwards in flashing red mode while walking next to someone with their headlamp on normally. That was folks behind you see the flashing light.
Hey Kelly! Another banger of a video! So glad you are grabbing your umbrella. Seems like a must for those road walks. I am still in awe of how much wild life there is. And who would have thought you would find some zombie cows! Crazy! Night road walks on a highway is nuts! I’m hope you can limit those kinds of miles. Glad the blister is healing up, let’s hope that’s the last one! 🙏 Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. -Grateful
@@kellyhays23 of course! If you speak to toasty tell him we miss his quacks! Any chance he might join you for some miles before you are done?! Be well Kelly and thank you again for everything you do for the community.
@S. M. things are good! Working on the NH48 this year, so far so good. Thanks for your hard work with the poachers. Boggles my mind that type of behavior still exists. Be well my friend
I love this. My parents have a place at a park in Okeechobee. We drove around the lake last March. Spent a lot of time on the canal and a bit of time on the lake. Watch out for the wildlife and crazy drivers.
I was born basically on the CDT in Silver City nm and it still blows my mind The amount of people who have lived there forever and still have no idea what it is 😅🤷♂️ Those are some cool little towns you're going through 👍🏻
4:11 My husband and I are binge watching this and laughed at this comment. I was like “cause ain’t no one want to hike in Florida! We go to the mountains.” 😂
Florida Panthers.. there are about 200 adult FL panthers in southern FL. They are about half the size of a western Mountain Lion, and there have been NO reported attacks on humans. Only worry about the gators, giant ticks, and ROUS's (rodents of unusual Size).
I have spotted Florida Panthers as far north as the Green Swamp Wilderness where I bike almost daily. Officials, as usual, deny that they are that far north, but they need better data. Panthers are easy to differentiate between Florida bobcats and coyotes which are relatively small and skinny, by comparison.
Florida had a habit of naming roadways, trails back in the day. Rt.41 on the west coast of Florida is called the Tamiami Trail for Tampa to Miami. The old guy may have been confused because of that. Stay safe, hike strong, have fun! geek
yes James Adams that was what I was thinking alot of people still call it the Tamiami Trail and I can see that the oldster was thinking about the roadway.
Talking with the locals about the trail is surprising. The several re-routes due to construction causes me to wonder about the trails future. Glad you are taking the time now to experience the way it might have been for years, (my guess about the years of the trails existence, within the *unchanged* sections). Best hiking times wished‼️
Arubas has some really good tacos! Camel She Ra and Myself, Blowtorch stopped there for lunch. She Ra bought us some tacos. The ladies were very nice. And the Guava pastries👌
The black wooly bugger huge in the foreground moving crazily in tandem with the spectral hiker going away, their Don Quixote umbrella tilting over, is the movie poster shot for the documentary to come. Avoid armadillos. They vector Hanson's disease. Kelly becomes more beautiful each time. And she's waking people up to the existence of the Florida trail. They could make some money by getting with it like they do along the Appalachian trail. First step is waking up. Too much doll hair or something I guess.
The trail has only gained more popularity since Dixie hiked it and put out more information about it. Only Florida hikers would know about the trail most others locals are blind to it.
The Interstate...too much road hiking is my biggest letdown with the Florida Trail through hike and unfortunately with the urban sprawl it will only get worse...tiki bar so Florida!!!....a lot of folks dont know this but after Texas Florida is the one of the biggest cattle states in the country at least for now. when you are in the woods at night the armadillos sound so much larger then they really are!.....oh a panther!!....all my years hiking in the Florida swamps but I have never seen one but I am up more in Central Florida.
Wonder when Dollar General will start putting little stores on major trails? lol just kidding.. great videos as always.. thanks for sharing.. You Guys Rock!
Armadillos! I've never seen one, I tried finding one that lives in my Aunt's garden last time I was in Florida, and it is very good at hide n seek! I guess night hiking has advantages becquse you get to see all the nocturnal animals. Did Tripod get a photo or some video of the panther? That would be amazing!
I'd like to know how Kelly always looks so clean and fresh in that Florida heat lol.. Never looks sweaty, eye brows always perfect lol.. Are you toting make up in that backpack?
Family Dollar for breakfast??? Two blocks east and you could have gone to Haven Fresh!! Moore Haven's finest Smoothie bar also serves health breakfast and lunches. Fresh fruit, juices, smoothies and hot entries. Tsk tsk.
Not sure how far out your videos are. Anyway AT section hiker here who loves to give out trail magic. Whether its resupply, or a maybe a nice dinner out. Or a place to stay. In Central Florida Please DM if you need anything.
One thing I think is such a shame about this area is that no matter how hot you get, would you ever feel comfortable taking a refreshing dip in the water? And there's so much water!
Hi, random question about contacts. Do you carry a bunch of daily lenses and just toss them or do you have to clean and store them every night. Just curious as a lens wearer.
Clean and store every night. I carry a couple extra lenses just in case I lose them or need to replace. I can wear mine for a month. Always carry a 3 oz bottle of solution bc I found the 1oz goes really fast and you can’t always find solution everywhere. Also bring my glasses for at night time in my tent/if my eyes need a break from the contact lenses! Always sucks having to carry that extra weight, but I’m pretty blind without eyewear so don’t really have a choice lol
Yes! Kittyhawk drinking BodyArmor. That stuff was life when I was a dog walker
This has been an awesome series so far! Floridian here and i had no idea of the Florida trail until i met my first trail runner.

That night sounds is wonderful. Thanks for sharing your hike with us. Happy Hiking 🥾🏕💞

lots of adventures!
Hey Kelly, so glad your blister is doing better. You looked so happy in your tent even so close to a panther sighting!!
Very cool wildlife sightings. The armadillo looked cute! Funny story about the local fella 🤣
thanks for the update , stay safe
Good video. Love all the creatures and cows. You are the best !
Seems like you're hitting your stride; killing them miles! Awesome wildlife footage! Thanks for taking us along ✌️
These videos are so fun to watch. Giving me life before I start my PCT hike this year! Thank you Kelly.
Love your talking with cows amazing I couldn't believe they walked right over to you. I love watching everyday thank you so much

I hate those walk to.
Wait till you come out of River Ranch and have to walk Rt 60. That sucks.
Great job 👏

Good idea with the avocado, need pics or vid of the panther for it to count, haha.

Do a review on your Garmin Inreach Mini. I just got one and used it in Chololoskee.

I've never seen An opossum or an armadillo, always wanted to.I've seen mountain lions but never a black panther.Looks like you're having fun though.

How easy has your resupply been so far? How much food have you had to carry?
Longest carry has only been like 3-4 days.
I am so dumb….I had no idea the FL Trail is as long as it is! Wow! Did you have a timetable going in for how long you wanted it to take?
How are you protecting your food at these campsites?
One thing I think is such a shame about this area is that no matter how hot you get, would you ever feel comfortable taking a refreshing dip in the water? And there's so much water!
Don't walk w/ traffic to your back, walk against traffic. Less chance of getting squished. 🥰
Kelly how you dealing with the mosquitoes
Ya sound tired n exhausted...take care of yourself out there!
That trail looks meh…. But the wildlife you’re seeing is epic!
Beverage Stipend!!
I wouldn't like walking on the road at night either.
Are you doing the trail starting from the south or north?
South
So where do the alligators stay at night? Do they stay in the water or are they on the bank sniffing you through your tent?
