We essentially did the same thing with a Full foam mattress from Walmart, though made the fit tighter. We use 2 carry on luggage as "supports". Sewed a cover from an old duvet and store it in a mattress vacuum bag in the frunk with a small reversible pump. Mattress: $119 Pump: $10 Vacuum bag: $13 Duvet from thrift shop: $8 Total: $150+tax Cheaper, greater fit, comfort and includes storage solution. Good video.
