      @James Williams Was right for Jon - I certainly wouldn't expect to see a cover band with Steely Dan just playing every note from the record. The main ingredients are there, but it has to be Jon's solo, not just him copying Jay Graydon (correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he did the original).

    • @pallhe
      @pallhe 5 лет назад

      @James Williams You mean it's different from the album. I think it's much more interesting to play something at least partly different. The cats in the Steely Dan band are excellent improvisers in their own right. There's no reason to expect a note-for-note rendition like in a classical concert. The approach here is more jazz/rock.

    • @pallhe
      @pallhe 5 лет назад

      @James Williams I guess that's an equally legitimate point of view. There are certainly parts of some solos that have become part of the melodic fabric of the song. "Stairway to Heaven" comes to mind. But I always like to hear something new, even totally different versions of songs. My approach to the "Peg" solo would be to learn it note-for-note (a valuable lesson in itself) and then develop it into something of my own.

    Saw Steely Dan at the Wellmont in Montclair, NJ a few years back. Jon Herrington nailed every single solitary guitar solo from beginning to end. And Steely Dan has, over the years, used some great guitarists on their albums, so Herrington's ability to nail every solo was truly remarkable.

    Great video Jon, I first saw " The Dan " while working as security at Atlanta Stadium when they were touring with Chicago in the 70's and have loved their style and great blend of smoothness and rock. They came on stage and threw rubber baseballs into the crowd. I like your stage presence, that as a guitarist, keeps me glued to your style and precision. I hope you are part of the group for a long time.

    Thank you Jon. Your playing is sublime as is the greatest musical duo as far as I am concerned, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. The music is so multi-layered and beautifully nuanced. Languid and bittersweet are the harmonies.

    What a virtuoso! I've seen him play live with SD probably 2 dozen times at least and he is always on point. He seems to be taking on an even bigger role in the band lately since Walter Becker's unfortunate passing. I hope Fagen and the boys stay comitted to touring regularly and sharing this wonderful music with us.

    @nicos808 Noise is inherent with the audio input jack on the device, and we've minimized as much as possible - which is more difficult with the higher gain models, of course, just like on the real thing (and the other modeling thing we do too)...

    @nicos808 Right now, that's the reason for 3 - and we do support a wider range of hardware and we are not iOS4 only. However, we are always looking into ways to use the better hardware when present, yet still not leave the others without. It is just a technical challenge to juggle, but we're aware.
