    Thank you. I have been looking online for 3 days trying to find decent instructions on how to insulate my new metal frame enclosed carport (in Florida) and you're the only person who actually has useful information and demonstrations. As soon as I go measure my total surface area I will place an order. One question: Can BlueTex or other a thinner foil type insulation be used on the inside of a roll-up door; and if so, how would you attach it?

    • @AtticFoil
      @AtticFoil  3 года назад

      Roll up doors can be tricky. Yes, they will work as long as they don't "bind" the door. You can test this with a sheet of cardboard. Or, just use the www.AtticFoil.com products and work off the emissivity quality.

    What about a conditioned bldg like a barndo ?

    • @AtticFoil
      @AtticFoil  3 года назад

      Definitely www.BlueTexInsulation.com and www.AtticFoil.com can be used in Barndos. Ideally, the absolute best insulation is to basically build a refrigerator and put it in the shade. Traditional insulation products are the refrigerator and foil is the "shade" from the heat, not the light. Please contact us. We are actually developing some new products/methods specifically for use with fully conditioned spaces and would be willing to offer some rebates for pictures etc. of the install process.

    Can you install this in a residential home with wood framing underneath roof? What is the required air gap? And have you heard of Prodex Total 10m Plus. They claim that their best product has an Rvalue of 22 which I don't seem to believe since it's basically just like Bluetex.

    • @AtticFoil
      @AtticFoil  4 года назад

      The BlueTex insulation and the Prodex are not the right products for an attic. You would want www.AtticFoil.com As for R-value, in a ventilated attic you do NOT want r-value "floating" up in your attic. You want the r-value to be on the floor where it does something. This is why we don't go the the beach and hold a jacket over our heads. As for their claim of R-22? Uh, I'm not saying they are lying, well maybe I am... So I have a quonset hut style in Michigan and I am afraid of put screws thru for leaking. Is the glue on pin the best option or will the single screw leak thru the self adhesive pin.
    Also will I need to add additional insulation for keeping the shop warm in winter. 0 to 30 degrees.

      We have a solution using high temperature adhesive and pins to attach to your building. This video shows a quick summary: ruclips.net/video/UCAx2g4oaTA/видео.html email us from the website and we can send you some pictures to illustrate in more detail. We also have new web page coming soon for this type of application.

    We are building a metal home...should the insulation be put on prior to the roof and walls or can it be added later?

    • @AtticFoil
      @AtticFoil  3 года назад +1

      There are several methods. For new construction, you generally want these layers: Metal roof or walls > Airspace > Radiant Barrier (foil) > Traditional insulation/framing. Basically, you want to build a refrigerator and wrap it with foil.
