For the first one? Not an issue at all if you stay away from HE washers... Use an old machine that uses a good amount of water and includes an agitator that ACTUALLY AGITATES... I've never had problems with dirt and soap residue using old washers. If you're using limited water and weak nearly nonexistent agitation then you're asking for problems. For that reason front load washers are also trash. Not enough water, the dirt and soap isn't going to come out. Even worse, your clothing will eventually get moldy. Do yourself a favor and avoid front load and HE washers entirely, get an old standard washer that uses a lot of water and a powerful agitator.
