This card seems like a less broken golos that also gives you the ability to make manaliths.

That's because that's exactly what it is, budget Golos since 6RG is a lot easier to manage with budget cards then 2WUBRG.

So there's a funny thing with this.
Heartstone, any token doubler/static ability copier like Illusionist's Bracers and Umbral Mantle. Infinite manaliths. If you have Altar of the Brood or something like Reckless Fireweaver, you win
I've been wanting to build a Gruul commander deck, but haven't been too keen on any of my options. This may very well be the one I've been waiting for

Nice! I can finally build a real Troll deck! Mass land destruction without wincon that will just make games go forever and annoy anyone at the table, yet yet trolling around with my troll commander, I love it! I'd only take it out if the other players at the table piss me off though.

Quest for Renewal 1G (G=Green)
Whenever a creature you control becomes tapped, you may put a quest counter on Quest for Renewal.
As long as there are four or more quest counters on Quest for Renewal, untap all creatures you control during each other player’s untap step.
I was not aware of this card until I pulled it from my prerelease kit! I immediately thought that it should make for a cool Gruul "Golos Lite" kind of deck.
I would LOVE a deck tech for this in the future!
Im doing a cube like system with Svella for when I can play in person with friends again! Gonna have a base deck and load a bunch of cubamajigs with thematic packs and letting my friends randomly pick what goes in my deck so when I rip 4 off the top we're all surprised! We did it with Mael super long ago :')

Remember to include your Heartstones to turn manaliths into arcane signets!
Even with the Mystery Booster reprint it’s not quite budget, but Braid of Fire would also be so good in this deck.
I knew my copy of Braid of Fire would come in handy! Now if only I could justify having Braid of Fire and Leyline tyrant in the same deck.
@@johnbuscher I mean the above isn't a bad commander to use both. throw in classic omnath and all your red and green mana will just stockpile. Build up to machinegun your commander's ability for all the castings.
Wizards is really pushing commander with such powerful uncommon legendary creatures.
I'm definitely ok with this.
the thing is, many/most of the Uncommon Commanders are more narrow, buildaround commanders instead of genericaly good ones, which i really love, since it really allows you to do different things instead of having to play the same thing over and over again
Better than the powerfull mythics that are 20 euro's a piece

It feels vaguely like a Gruul Kinnan. I see this thing being a blast to play in casual and easy to build on a very low budget

Hellkite tyrant's win condition loves artifacts including token ones.
Going to put him into my Ghired deck. Especially as Doubling Season/Parallel Lives/Anointed Procession would give a lot of rocks!

I want to build/ solve this commander. Gruul was my original color combo. This is so unique I feel like I can’t ignore it
Well, the commander's second ability let you cast the spell without pay the mana value. So Artisan of Kozilek can work with Svella's second ability.
The idea I have for this deck is Manabarbs and stuff like Furnace of Raath in order to boost the damage up. With a few cards it is easy to get it up to 12+ I have gotten it to 144.
Maybe with a bunch of rocks in play you untap, bane of progress while tapping out all rocks, cast something like fling, while on stack cast as many copy spell effects. Then you get multiple fling effects off what would be a huge B.o.p. who gonna bop your opponents hard.
Or bunch of rocks, the dragon that dies pay R to burn opponent. Kill it via fling effect again or a ashnod alter

I don’t think Mass Land Destruction with this commander breaks the social contract too much. Basically if you’re blowing up all the lands, you’re gonna win the game.
Where MLD sucks is when it simply grinds the game to a halt and adds an hour and half to the game time
Quest for Renewal and Thousand-Year Elixir are also noteworthy. Maybe Scryb Ranger, too.
What about a win condition with Rampage of the clans?
Illusionist's bracers to generator 2 tokens instead, token doubling effects, and heart stone. Throw it in the 99 of Temur deck for Intruder Alarm, Biomancer's Familiar, and Training Grounds.
Dictate of Karametra is a budget card but does affect all players with its mana doubling ability. Means your mana rocks also tap for twice as much so hopefully able to ramp faster than the opponents with it.
i made this commander and it is honestly the one i have the most fun with.
well well great commander but i may use it inthe 99 of my Xenagos god of revels deck to help cast all the big bois in there.
I made a deck with svella literally the moment she was spoiled
Don not forget that they're snow manarocks, so something like connifer wurm or any othe big snow payoff might be good if you go for going wide with manalith tokens.
I dont have a good reason why, but this card makes me wanna build it with the “Create a rock you can throw at targets” partner commander from commander legends

@@kusanagi54321 Nah this is manalith tribal, if you want rock tribal the commander you need is Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith. He is the master of making rocks.

I mean, rarity is a kind of weird idea anyway, by artificially making important cards hard to get. If it really just was to maintain a limited format, then why do set boosters not just have 15 random cards from the set, no matter what rarity, for the same price as draft boosters, and double masters would never have happened

@@Nicayle also, double masters was a bullshit set that had an inflated price for no legitimate reason, like all the masters sets.
I got the foil alternate art version of this card in my prerelease kit.
Definitely would put this in the 99 of a Nikya deck though. Good way to get ramp in a deck that has little to no artifacts and ramp spells.
I recommend instill energy because it also gives haste
I got a showcase svella and a goldspan dragon in the same pack. Hell of a pull.
What about a doubling season to get two tokens?
If you have the money for it then put it in. Mitch didn't mention it cause it's definitely not a budget option.

In this situation when they talk about cards no mentions;
Thran Turbine. Artifact 1 to cast and "At the beginning of your upkeep, you may add 2 colorless. You can't spend this mana to cast spells."
So with just that your are making one mana rock on your turn for one mana. Plus as of this comment it is only like $2.60. I guess it depends on what your definition of budget
If you use a green layline from M19 you can make all the mana rocks give you one green mana and one mana of any color .
You'll have super mana rocks.
Needs haste, inefficient mana rocks, can’t activate multiple times in a turn by itself. Those were my first thoughts on the card, personally they haven’t changed much but I think I can see a few decks that would like it in the 99

Surprised no mention of instill energy or natures chosen. Both are great untappers in green and are pretty budget. both under a dollar, depending on which version for instill energy. Sure they only do it once a turn, but extra redundancy and more mana rocks.
This is like a kinnon in grull.
Put Umbral Mantle and Sculpting Steel in there and you basically go Omniscience with a 1 million/1 million commander beat stick in a single turn.
Cards: Svella, Illusionist's Bracers, Umbral Mantle, Heartstone, Sculpting Steel, Mana Reflection.
Put Illusionist's Bracers and Umbral Mantle on Svella and copy Heartstone with Sculpting Steel to have 2 Heartstones.
Pay 1 to tap Svella and make 2 mana rocks. Tap 1 mana rock for 2 mana. Use 1 and untap Svella to give them +4/+4. Now you have 1 free mana and an unused mana rock.
Repeat infinitely until you get infinite rocks and just start dumping your deck onto the field.

This wouldn't be possible with Svella as your commander, but in a deck with blue, this would be great with Freed from the Real. Or you could go infinite with Freed from the Real, Doubling Season, and Mana Reflection (not a particularly competetive combo lol but what's more fun than making infinite mana rocks?)

This, plus Jorn in a 4 or 5 color snow deck would be crazy.
In its second ability it says you may cast without paying the mana cost so yeah you get the eldrazi cast trigger 😒

This is REALLY cool and almost what i'm looking for. if only Svella had Black in his color identity. The reason Golos is so good is mainly because of the access to all five colors which also allows the "Maze's End" win condition in commander so you can win having access to 11 different Gates including 3 cards that can actually tutor for gates (one of which can put 2 of them directly into play). Svella is a great comprimise, i just wish his second ability didn't require him to tap. Why does Golos and Kinon get to do thier thing infinantly but this guy can't?

With Kaldheim coming out, I have a ton of different commander deck lists that are all cool. Also with me being a new-ish commander player, I have plenty of other ideas and lists as well. I might have too many, is 30+ commander decks too many?

This commander literaly SNOWballs
Storm Cauldron+Citadel of Pain, now all your opponents have the unfortunate decision of choosing to take damage from their untapped lands, or filling their hand with them if they tap for mana. Or there’s Quicksilver Fountain+Power Conduit to turn everybody’s non island lands into islands except for yours, all while slowly buffing your creatures.

This commander is sweet but I don't really understand what about him is Gruul. AFAIK, neither red nor green are known for making mana rocks, other than treasure I guess but those aren't permanent and every color can do that to an extent. We've seen the second ability in green sometimes but usually paired with blue. And he shapes ice. What about red uses ice? I'm glad he isn't just another powerful Simic commander, I just don't get why Gruul.

Even better than Heartstone is Zirda, Dawnwaker. Double the effect, costs 3 (though a bit tougher but still in this card's color pie) and you get a creature that helps attackers if that's how you want to go. Basalt Monolith paired with Zirda also generates infinite colorless mana.

A weird design for Gruul.
Ashaya, Quirion Ranger, Lotus Cobra, Svella. Infinite Landfall, creature fall, Artifact fall, mana. This is so going in my Gruul token artifact deck.

Can you use Svella's second ability on the turn of opponents? Or do you still need the appropriate timing for casting a spell?
Creature tap abilities are done at instant/interrupt speed.
Usually, I should add. Some of them have specific rules " only when you could cast a sorcery" that as in all cases overrides general rules
Does Illusionist Bracers work with Svella's deck ability as well? Or does it just cause you to look at the top 4 twice and play only 1?
Since it copy the ability, you resolve it looking the 4 cards from the top, chosing 1 card and putting the rest on the bottom, than you resolve the copy looking the 4 cards from the top, chosing 1 and put the rest on the bottom.
