  • Destiny 2's Lore and Story from the Season of the Witch tells us about Eris Morn's Ascension into the new Hive god of Vengeance. In order to fight Xivu Arath and drive back her brood, Eris Morn has embraced a darker power and has gained the power to claim the tithes we create through the power of sword logic. The progression and nature of this ascension is worth talking about.

      I can see either Savathun gifting Eris her throne world post-mortem (which would complete her devotion to the light, since the light is all about giving and the Sword Logic is about taking while acknowledging Eris as the 4th Sister) or Savathun gets rezzed with Eris becoming an advisor (and counter balance) to the Witch Queen, keeping her in check and reminding her that she doesn't have a worm to feed with deception.

    • @Edge-wx7hv
      @Edge-wx7hv Год назад +3

      thing is, given what we know of the sword logic, she might not *need* to fight off the 'corruption' of her new nature, her own hate for the hive might be exactly what that power demands, but defeating the Witness may in turn free or at least open a path for the hive to break from their cycle of death, genocide and torment. and not only does that go against being 'The God of Vengeance' but it goes against her personal desire to enact revenge. she may face a choice, Defeat the Witness by forgiving the Hive, or doom us all by refusing to forgive. the Witness, of course, could promise her the brutal extinction of the hive and she might have trouble rejecting that offer.
      whatever choice she makes, it's going to be both awesome and heartbreaking to see play out because i don't think it'll be as simple as 'an external influence pushing her to corruption', it'll be her own pain, her own desire for vengeance, against the good of the universe. and. well. that's a hell of a choice to make when your life is defined by what has been denied to you.

Eriana!, Vell!, Omar!, Sai!, Toland!.

    The tragic part is Eris's transformation is a sacrifice in more ways than one. Becoming a Hive God of Vengeance means she's sacrificing her long recovery toward a semblence of peace.
    From Shadowkeep onward, we've been helping her recover from her trauma, grief, and ability to actually feel peace again. In turn, she's helped others do the same.
    Now? She's willingly given that up in order to defeat Xivu Arath and a path toward defeating The Witness. In order to that, she now has to return to vengeance and loss.
    This is actually a bigger character moment than any of us may realize.

As far as I'm concerned, Eris's intentions are unimpeachable, and she's consistently served us as a competent witch, from D1 to now (remember the first time she pulled us out of a Hive darkness zone when our transmat wouldn't work?) but Savathun has been planning this since at least the Collapse, and I don't think her own death is a real hindrance to what she's set in motion. She'll need us, Ikora, and the Drifter to make sure she doesn't fall victim for whatever trap is waiting for her.
