@@TalkMyShiit Hello, pardon me, but the plain truth is the 1982 Raider defense still wasn't there yet. Reggie Kinlaw was not anywhere close to all the way back from his 1981 knee injury, whereas he would be in 1983. Two other great Defensive Linemen on that 1983 Raider defense, rookies Bill Pickel and Greg Townsend had not yet been drafted in 1982, and Howie Long did not begin lifting weights yet until 1983 offseason because 1983 was his first full offseason with Lyle Alzado as a teammate. Howie long was still just improving in 1982, and CB Mike Haynes was still in New England in 1982. I never thought I would blame a defense for losing 17-14 in a playoff game, but in that particular playoff loss, 1982 Raider defense sort of made Richard Todd into a clutch-performer, and that same defense came way too close to giving up a 28-point lead to Seattle. 1982 Raiders were still not there yet.
looking back, it was horrendous how bad Tampa Bay's coaching staff made 'Bazooka' Williams look in both playoff losses to Dallas. Instead of concentrating on going after Dallas's weak run-defense (weak since LB Hollywood Henderson cut his own career short a few years before), Tampa's play-calling was trigger happy in both playoff losses to Dallas, and what makes that even worse (alot worse) was that in 1981 and '82, Tampa Bay's Offensive Line was so much better at better at run-blocking than pass-blocking. For so many reasons, it was a huge mistake by Tampa's coaching staff to get trigger-happy in both playoff losses at Dallas, and thus hung 'Bazooka' Williams out to dry, so-to speak.

@@shanetrimble9265 true upset … it was a case of not taking your opponent serious enough … it’s ok, we got them the next year in SB 18 (38-9)
@@TalkMyShiit Yes you did. That game broke my 11 year old heart. I still haven't gotten over it lol.
1982 Raiders were still not there yet.
no Harry Kalas? BOOOOOOOOOOOOO
David Woodley was a bum
The Raiders and Bengals were the class of the AFC that season and both got tossed by the Jets. No one saw that one coming.
And if it wasn't for that sloppy field in the AFC Championship Game, the Jets could've very well dumped the Dolphins too.
No doubt the Jets best season up to that point since 1968.
The Jets were the class because of their D-Line and Freeman McNeil
Last Bucs game for Doug Williams. It was criminal what happened and it was all over 100K a year. To hell with Hugh Culverhouse.
looking back, it was horrendous how bad Tampa Bay's coaching staff made 'Bazooka' Williams look in both playoff losses to Dallas.
