    I saw this film in 1968 at the cinema . I was 9 .
I am 66 now and I have the blue ray and several books relating to the film .
I have read/heard many explanations about what the film was ultimately about .
It is great to hear you guys talking about this movie in such a spirited style . Fascinating insights.
    Thank you.

Hey Norman, thanks so much for your lovely comment - We've spoken a lot about the importance of still grabbing hold of physical media and the joy of owning these films on Blue ray on the pod! Come on over and give us a listen if you fancy it. What was your take on the final act intrigued to see if you agreed with ours?! Appreciate you getting in touch

Loved this discussion chaps thank you. Has been a titanic movie for me personally and one that must be seen in a cinema. Is worth remembering that the film was released late 60s in the height of psychedeliia. The end scene, despite pushing the visual and audio boundaries of cinema was very much part of what was happening at the time. Contemporary films like Zabriksie Point and Performance were (and are) proper mind-bending; not dissimilar to the weirdness at the end of 2001. I loved Jack's reading of it though, and that for me is the beauty of the movie, is there is so much interesting interpretation. Big love lads

Such a good point here about the timing of the film and where cinema was at, at the time. The weirdness is kind of the beauty of it - probably why so many people were turned off the film at the time and yet why so many (if not more now) love it today. Thanks so much for watching and really glad you enjoyed it! Catch you on the next one - and if there's any films you'd suggest we do on the pod give us a shout and we'll try to get them on the go.
