this might still be my favorite nelward track. very 1992 VH1
the video is night in a city downtown, scenes include nelward playing a grand piano at a nice restaurant, with closeups of his hands on the keys during the plingy parts of the chorus. maybe a few shots of him singing at the piano. in the restaurant a couple is having an "end of relationship" discussion, talking about how things haven't gotten better. maybe multiple couples having different deep conversations, some growing closer, others growing distant or resigned or reminiscent.
intersperse with nelward walking down sidewalk in thick velour winter jacket singing lyrics. an aerial shot of nelward walking through a busy city square but the shot cuts between the square being packed and the square being completely empty as he walks through it
possibly in black and white or very desaturated colors, lots of dark and high contrast low-sat sets and props. maybe a few things in color like a wine glass, a neon sign, etc.
actually go with the crowded/empty square idea and have similar flip-cuts of people, say a guy alone at a table in the restaurant cut back and forth with the same guy at the same table having a good time with a date/wife/etc. a couple having a bad time / same couple having a good time, etc. the breaking up couple cut with the same couple meeting/dating for the first time.

oh same, most nelward lyrics are intentionally strange, so the meaning is totally up to interpretation. But I can just enjoy the vibes and imagery the lyrics give off, without necessarily knowing the exact meaning of each line. and "I am the shit, I'm so modest" is just funny
