    Good ideas! Looks alike a lot of fun. Very practical (well MAYBE not the One-wheel 😂!) I loved that it was so unpretentious. I had just watched a video where a couple that looked straight-off-the-tennis court touted a 200.00 boondocking French press, a 100.00 rechargeable wilderness coffee grinder, a 500.00 quadruple locking anti grizzly metal box for outdoor food storage and a 300.00 jerry water can. All well and good perhaps but, WOW, what I really probably need is some collapsing storing-cooking containers (well and truthfully the jerry can with antimicrobial and charcoal filters built in looked pretty nice.)

    Very unrealistic boondocking, haha. Thanks for sharing. Yes to the buddy heater and shower head. No to most everything else. Lol. The key item that you miss in your 27 unrealistic boondocking spectacular would be an inverter connected to your trailers auxiliary batteries used during peak solar and generator hours. Your RV is 1 huge battery inverter generator, why in gods name would you buy portable power banks. 😂 Forget I said anything... Good luck.

    • @MacNeilsOnWheels
      @MacNeilsOnWheels  Год назад +1

      Well, the inverter is a pretty obvious one that didn’t need to be mentioned.
      I don’t know how much more realistic you can get.
      We need portable power banks because it’s 2022 and we have a ton of camera gear that needs to be charged - even with 400ah of lithium batteries and a 3k watt inverter there are lots of times we need more - and even more time when the sun isn’t out.
      The portable power banks have saved the day more than probably anything else.
      You might not need that much, but you’re probably not rendering 4k youtube videos and charging 8 cameras offgrid on solar power either.
      That’s reality, buddy.
      Have a great day though.

  • @JohnHoranzy

    Excellent list. Thanks for printing the list.
    I would suggest a $150 USD diesel parking heater over the Buddy heater. Good riddance to mine. Especially if you have any breathing problems. Then there is condensation problems burning unvented propane.
    The One Wheel needs at least a full face helmet and hard wrist protectors. Those numerous wrist bones are quite fragile and will take the brunt of your fall along with your fragile chin. I know this from experience but was protected. I have a lightweight gravel mid drive ebike conversion. I have 3 separate 48 volt 20 AH batteries for the bike. I can convert the 48 Volt to 12 volts. Stay away from proprietary systems. I am debating on a 48 Volt to110V sine wave inverter. Only the microwave needs 110V and I can live without it. I have a 1000 Watt Honda generator to run for charging the bike/house batteries and computer batteries. Though the idea is to get away from the computer and read real books and do real things. I am not full time so Solar is not cost effective. I already had the generator. Out here in the East, there are trees and shade everywhere. The only critical power need is the Parking heater and bicycle charging.
    I already have many of the things you suggest. It looks like you already have a low flow kitchen faucet with the single lever. That was my first upgrade. The bathroom sink is next for singe lever control. The shower is more difficult to convert but will eventually get a temperature regulator so I do not have to worry about burns from the 140F hot water tank. The Oxygenitic shower head is the best!
    Use witch hazel in a spray bottle with paper or real towels instead of wet wipes. I did that while bicycle touring years ago.
    The cheapest thinnest cotton towels and washcloths are the best because they dry the fastest and use the least amount of water to clean. Also good with Witch hazel spray as you can pack more of them. Microfiber is too hydrophobic for my taste.
    Using Ammonia for laundry and no other soaps. If you bucket wash, you just have to rinse the dirt out. The ammonia will evaporate. So you can get away with one rinse and not worry about the extra rinse to get out the soap. I use Ammonia for sleeping bags and heavy, thick clothing so I do not have to worry about soap build up on the fine insulation. Probably best to store outside the environmental cabin.
    I have a wonderful Gazelle 12 ft pop up gazebo that will fit over campsite picnic tables because my trailer is so small. It is truly everything the advertisements say it is.
    I need to look into this RV Master Key problem.
    My 17 ft Trailer and 3.6 H6 Outback only gives me 480 lbs of cargo. I have to budget weight carefully.

    • @MacNeilsOnWheels
      @MacNeilsOnWheels  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. Great tips.
      I use a normal bike helmet and wrist guards with the onewheel, but - Ive taken enough dumps on it and put several hundred miles on it ;) I think a full face is a bit overkill. It’s a fantastic filmmaking tool.

    • @MacNeilsOnWheels
      @MacNeilsOnWheels  2 года назад

      Out here in the southwestern desert, condensation isn’t much of a concern. It’s dry enough that we don’t have issues. In the east I could see where that might be a serious problem!

      There are definitely some parts of the country that feel safer than others and there's a lot of drug use out there - but we haven't come across anyone or anything looking to do us harm.
      The NorthPoint has been a good rig, though we had big issues with it and Jayco in the beginning and we had to get really unreasonably loud with corporate to get it resolved. We were able to get it sorted and it's held up to us full time for almost 2 years. Nothing is leaking and everything still works. We did have to replace the tablet that controls all the systems, that died - but no big deal.

      Why? We’re adults and the country is obviously over it. You can smoke pot and be productive. Moreso, generally.

      @@saintb6969 I appreciate that, but since it's not 1993 anymore and it's decriminalized in some form now in 37 states - I'm not too concerned about the man. I like normalizing it. I'm a big fan, and I'm proud of our country for standing up against the war on drugs. It's probably the only thing I feel like we've done right in my lifetime.

      That's um, like, your opinion man. Do you never use water outside? Never washed your car or hosed the dog crap off your shoe?. Don't come here with that.. Don't dump your blackwater. That's rude. Grey water is water. Don't be a jerk, don't dump chicken juice on your neighbors steps - but grey water on the ground outside is fine. Where exactly do you think all of society's grey water goes? Stop it.

      @@richardloebel take it up with RUclips, Dick. There are obviously places in which it is inappropriate and against the rules to dump grey water. On the vast majority of public land, it is not. It's called grey water because it's not suitable for drinking. If it were toxic, it would be called black water or hazmat. Puddle water is also grey. You should filter it before you drink it. Dawn dishsoap and water from our camper is not anywhere near as toxic to anything as rain wash-off from lawn chemicals and oil leaks on the roads. If it were, they wouldn't be pouring it on endangered oil covered ducks. Don't push your morals on others, that's the only rudeness happening here. If you don't want to dump your greywater, or you're never in a situation where it makes sense to do so, don't. You don't have to get on the internet and shout to the world how rude we are because we do. Ok Karen.
