the reason a lot of modern motherboards whether high end chipset or not still carry a ps/2 port is because usb still requires drivers to work, ps/2 does not. i always test with ps/2
14:40 Yes that's glue, even the darker brown stuff. Coils are often glued like that, and in this case the coil (stick looking thing) is glued to the caps.
Silverstone was the oem for that larger case in 2006-7.... Their version was $$$ and had a very thick aluminum front door and a plastic duct from to front fan to the rear covering the cpu heatsink. If you are interested in old cases get in touch, I've never thrown any out.
@@RETROHardware If u wanna - try to warmup chipset with simple hairdryer around 5 minutes. If it works - then its just bad bga contact. If not - chipset replacement needed.
Would advise against using power supplies from those years today, the demands have changed a lot back then and the quality of the power supplies is cheap from today's point of view and the power supplies back then have not always kept up well with the changing requirements. This is different with old AT and ATX power supplies, the PII/PIII/Athlon and older hardware was less problematic and it is enough to replace the capacitors.BR
I love to pickup mystery PC for 10 -20 euros, if they look interesting. They are like kinder surprises for me. Never know what is inside most of time its MX, FX cards cheep motherboard but sometimes just sometimes there is something interesting inside. But lately on local market there are only branded PC-s m Dell, Ibm and that stuff. Great find STALKER card 2900XT wow, that NZX case looks like knockoff.
I hated those early "gamer" cases with robot/mask/car/etc. designs so much! I can't believe I'm now somewhat nostalgic for them. The inverted, pseudo-BTX looks nice. Shame that Intel mainboard is KO, I liked their boards (even when the non high-end models had limited BIOSes).
I have that same intel desktop board. It too does the same behavior by not entering bios. So you have to use the jumper on the right side of board for bios.
If I were in your shoes there, I'd clean up the second case and transplant the components from the NZXT case. The Nemesis looks to need quite a bit of refurb work to fix all the problems with it, the biggest one being the cracked side panel.
@@RETROHardware Seems like you're motivated to save that case, and actually have a decent plan in mind. It would make for a good video!

Intel motherboard not detect USB keyboard, Tray reset bios with a Jumper. in this MTB the legacy USB Support is disable for any reason.. sorry my bad english If you don't want it, I accept the donation :D
NZXT make less expensive versions of Nemesis case, you may be able to find some and steal parts to repair/replace hinges and side panel. I had one recently looked like Alienware crap :)
That inverted case looks like a good candidate for a build with some 2007 - 2012 hardware. If i get a chance too I'd love too get hold of a socket 1366 system again & do a maxed out build with like 24 gb ram, HD 5870 2 gb vram version & a intel xeon w5670. (Basically I7 980x & just as overclockable.) Ever done a fully passive or the most silent pc build you can make that still has decent performance for the time ?
Did you just say the amd hd 5450 is a bad card? It whas my very first card and the performance with only 4gb of ram whas great i whas surprised at how fast it whas even for a passive cooled card i even overclocked it and put my pc fans on extreme rpm and it ran fine
Mhm i have the same case like the right one. I think its from Avance, because i found the Avance Terminator case. It looks the same with only some design differences.
NZXT case looks a little cheap plastic-icky, needs a new piece of acrylic for the window no biggy there and some glue on the hinges, nice internals, hope that asus stalker branded gpu works ok, i recon that psu is a fairly new addition, no or little sign of dust inside, that second case looks ace very neat very large, shame the rest was garbage, brave to power that psu, with the gung on the small caps and it looked to me like the two main large caps where bulging badly.
That S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-themed GPU. In Russia those days we can only saw them in journals.
Igromania
GPU market be like “yea that’s worth $200”
this one is actually special
Indeed.
Maybe before the end of ETH mining.
The sticker on nzkt case. Oh nostalgia. legend game Return the Castle wolfenstein ;)
Check out the RealRTCW mod if you haven't.

Beautiful cases
That unbranded case has practically the same internal layout as Enermax's blue viper CS-178.
you mean CS 718, good point it really looks like some attempt of clone/copy
Your videos motivated me to buy retro parts and assemble various machines that I couldn't have as a child. Keep up the good work Joe.
Very cool!
That black NZXT case screams "Cheapo".
Quality of the plastic in NZXT case is scary. I guess even they had to start from somewhere
at last... the p45, the best chipset survived
I really like this nzxt case. In 2007-2010 i had nzxt lexa.
keep up the good work, you deserve more subscribers
The black one i would paint vinyl wrap make it look like Optimus Prime and the silver on make it look like a iron man PC

Yhea boi. I love your videos and love for the era man I always watch and sick cases btw
Well, the Nemesis pc is SO COOL!!!
And,I figured it out being 2900 , before the closeup !

did the gpu yell "cyka blyat" at being removed like that? XD
[muffled cheeki breeki in the distance] It's a youtube clip. I'd imagine that's the noise it would have made lol.
My dad had that NZXT case back in the day.
Lovely case but sadly younger me scrapped it at some point.
Would love to own one again tho.
Great find 👍
that intel motherboard when does not have a boot device, it never let you inside of bios
it is possible, MB has KO memory channel and posts 3x from 10x attempts ... in fact nothing interesting if working, like KO = scrap
@@RETROHardware If u wanna - try to warmup chipset with simple hairdryer around 5 minutes. If it works - then its just bad bga contact. If not - chipset replacement needed.
@@RETROHardware also one capasitor around atx on mb looks bad. Mb capasitors are to old?
@@Pur3Energy Not worth it. It's just generic Intel board. All around its not worth to do reflow - problem will return sooner or later.
Cool
And that modular psu and nzkt case is awesome one.what good find.

Thanks for pinup !
And if ever you buy such system do not hesitate do make video they are awesome.
Would love to mod that nzxt case and bring it back to life, still a cool case even today

the PC case on the right actually looks pretty nice, simple and clean

hoooolyyy moooly , the amazing stalker graphics i love it...

Plexiglass will be changed for new one, without stupid fan. Will be clear only. And front door no problem to fix. And thats it.

Im pretty sure thats the Wolfenstein badge on the front of the black case
No real loss on that Intel motherboard. They're pretty worthless in terms of overclocking, and as you can see, reliability...

yeah they made more similar art :-)
That p5q pro motherboard is a beast, due to the pci-e 2.0
You just need to put a xeon x5470 in it and itt will be a powerful pc

I stil have an nzxt phantom case its a very cool case too. Thank god that amd survived they dont make them looking like that any more.
Love those cases!
I have i have the matx of the board in the "rainy pc"
I was wandering what GPU was that... HD2900XT - nice score, it would be great to compare it to HD3870 with GDDR4, and for example 8800GTX.

Those XLR cable PSUs are awesome but soo hard to find
It has been a while since I salvaged an old computer. I think I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms

Found that NZXT Nemesis Elite case near me brand new for €20 with 2 small cracks in the window.... It even cracks while in storage, unused 😂
Did you try removing the CMOS battery before scraping the board?
this is not my job :-)
Why you dont build one xeon 775 computer?
zdar, mohl bys mi poradit kde sehnat, nebo jestli máš navíc, AT zdroj?
AT zdroj koupis skoro kdekoliv, od popelnice pres bazos/aukro nebo i novy
