    • @Sides99
      @Sides99 Месяц назад +1

      yep, whether it's a friendly or not, it's all meaningful to the Canadian team. And not just in terms of development - Canada was in 2nd place and 20 points ahead of the US in the CONCACAF rankings before the October window. Jesse is well aware that these rankings are used to set up the QF in the nations league; with the US beating Panama in the first game of the October window, Canada needed a W against Panama as well, especially since the US-MX game was played later on in the evening. Because they won, Canada stayed in 2nd and now plays Suriname next month instead of Jamaica. I don't know if a win against Mexico in Mexico is worth >20 points, but nevertheless this is a valid reason for the MX game to have been treated seriously.
      In other words, treating these friendlies seriously put Canada in the best possible position to play meaningful games in both November and March. No one knows yet if the US and Canada will send their A squads to the gold cup (especially with this club world cup in parallel) so this could be the last competition before the WC where it's all A teams in our region (injuries notwithstanding...).

      he is fine with the loss as he did not have 80% of his starters. it was an opportunity to play the rest of the squad (who would normally just be sitting on the bench the whole time) and give them the chance to get on the field and shine (or not). at the very least, when he does start trimming the hedges, the cut players cannot complain they were not given a chance

    Canada is the best team the region by far. Jesse has expanded our player pool and depth in the short time he’s been here. He’s also been able to combine a few dual nationals to switch to Canada. The main difference with Canada and other teams in the region isn’t our depth or money backing the federation it’s the quality of the players within the 11, realistically every player in canadas starting 11 are key players at the respective clubs. Granted not every player on the team is in a top 5 league and right for champions but a lot play champions league and they are also key pieces with their clubs teams, can’t say the same with the US and Mexican players

    Takeaway- our b minus team played terrible and and we realized without players like, balogun, dest , pulisic, Reyna, weston, and Adams even our more veteran role players/ or even quality players like arob really struggle to impact a game by themselves. And forget it if your midfield trio is busio, Aaronson/Tillman and Morris, there was 0 defensive awareness and communication and maybe some were too quick to praise them after Panama. This was a true reserve side except for Arob and apparently turner. so everyone take a breath. And for those yammering on about the need for players like pulisic to stay in play in this meaningless FRIENDLY, reverrese engineer it for a second. The worse case scenario was that he truly did re aggravate his flex or strain he got 3 games ago for Milan by playing theses two friendlies then being thrust into 3 games over 10 days for Milan and as a result he missed the game against Jamaica and we don’t have gio or dest or richards. What is with this short sightedness.
