The Last Of The Upgrades To The Repo Ninja Are Finally Completed

  • This episode shows the last of the upgrades planned for the new truck. That's the good news... the bad news is the motor is failing and I have no idea when it will blow out completely. It has been getting more problematic and I have had three different diesel techs look at it. I have done a ton of research online about these Powerstroke 6.4L engines and it is not good. So I am asking for small donations from a large audience to help me get a new motor for the Repo Ninja.

    First Shanda, and now the truck. I really like following you, your a good man/ husband and you do a great job towing those bastards. and a big plus, you are real. Not a bad program on tv like South Beach Tow or the other one. I am number 1 fan from Norway. Hope 90$ will help you on your way. God bless :)

    Man Matt, so sorry to here that Shanda is back in the hospital. I hope everything goes ok with her and that she gets better ASAP. Sucks to here the news on the Ninja, I'm for sure going to throw some money your way to help you out at least a little. Truck is looking really nice and functional with the mods you did on the bed. Also love the new camera angle for the in cab commentary, so glad you got that second camera, and thanks for working so hard to keep this channel going for us. Stay safe Matt, and I hope things start getting better for you and your family.

      Thank you so much. The support of all the viewers has been greatly appreciated and will go to good use and to make this channel even better. I have received a ton of hate messages from people who like to pass judgement on others but there is nothing I can do about stupid people. This video has already gotten 14 thumbs down which is actually pretty high compared to most of my videos. Really pissing off a bunch of trolls with this one ;-)

      I bet the people who are fretting for whatever reason that you you are getting financial relief don't bat an eye at people who fool others and cheat others or preachers who fleece flocks.
      You are having a rough patch, you work really hard, and have swallowed your pride to ask for help for an honest crisis from the people you've freely entertained at your own expense for years.
      Anyone who has a problem with that needs to be concerned about their attitude. That's what is making their life suck, not anything you are doing.

    • @RepoNut
      @RepoNut  9 лет назад +1

      John Wilburn It was not easy mentioning this online for everyone to see and to comment about. I especially do not like my competition knowing that I am having problems. It makes me a target that they can go after so I have to be careful to make sure I stay strong and keep my business viable during a time like this. I contemplated keeping this all hush hush and just dealing with it without the viewers being aware anything ever happened but after talking with my better half about it for a few days we decided to roll the dice and see what kind of response I got both in donation help and in ideas. I have to say the ideas and emails have been way more valuable so far over the money. I think I have more options to explore than before and will make a much more informed decision which in the end will help me spend the money in the best way possible.

    Being an F550 you should be able to put in a Cummins, CAT, Powerstroke or ford gasser!!! Late model, low mileage, 24v cummins and install parts would cost half what you 're looking at and be bulletproof for 10-15 years!!!

      Trolls got nothing better to do than slander hard working people.. The Exhaust After-treatment fucked up your engine doing Re-Gen before you did the EGR Delete.. I was planning to ask how you do your equipment maintenance, by hours, miles or some other system? (Oil Analysis?) Not just oil changes but Transmission, differential, hydraulic oil in the lift. [I would be interested in a vid on how you take care of your "workhorse" truck as a business owner]

    • @blackopsrocks
      @blackopsrocks 9 лет назад

      I was given a 2014 ram 3500 for the weekend (dealer pressuring me into burying some income in a depreciable asset) And I have to tell you, quieter than a duramax cold or warm, not as quiet as a 6.7 powerstroke when cold, but when it is warm, it truly is the quietest truck out there, and I mean from the outside. I could easily have a normal fender to fender conversation with the hood open while it idled. Also, as much as I enjoy clean air and a healthier environment you HAVE to get the egr and dpf off the 6.4 you're running. The problem is, you idle WAY too much, soot builds up, never clears the egr, clogs up all the various sensors with sooty oily carbon and thats when the problems start. Diesel Power Magazine had this issue when they attempted to making more power on their 6.4PS without removing or modifying the emissions.
      Other things to consider, operating in colder climates, you should run a catch can. I know on a diesel it's supposedly NOT a big deal but on the newer engines with the multitude of sensors you have to have a clean air intake.
      Lastly, there is an electronic dipstick available that monitors your actual oil condition and sends a signal to tell you when it thinks you should change your oil. I do hope your monitoring engine hours...If your changing the oil according to schedule your probably not doing it often enough.
      Hope that helps.

    Thought you were going to make racks for the dolly rails horizontally up the 45s to the rear window? That would have been friendlier I think if they weren't too wide. Bummer to hear about the engine, I love my ford straight 6 in my EF2 Fairmont Ghia, goes hard and no probs but def need heavy diesel I reckon in that line of work.

    Good to see the development continuing. Just a thought, since you have so many issues with the printer when needed for leos why not mount the printer permanently behind the seats and hook to what I assume to be a USB hub since you only have a couple if leads coming out for power, vidcap for rear cam etc? In a similar situation I'd be hard wiring a USB hub, perma printer and handheld scanner, external 3g modem/router with the ability to use an external antenna for better reception, vidcaps etc.

    hey matt, sorry about the truck. Ever think about swapping in a 5.9 Cummins? It may be cheaper to buy a used one and even with the modifications that a shop could do than a new 6.4 that will most likely do the same thing down the road. I would donate but im not doing so well financially at the moment either. (dont worry my vehicles are paid off haha!) Take care

    Any conversion to another type of engine than the one already in there will require you to change parts of the wiring harness, plus switch out the ECU or maybe even several ECUs, so this will most likely be more expensive. If you could get the newer 6.7L Ford diesel though, this would be awesome.

    Possible route that I would look into, would be to take the whole wrecker bed off the Ford, and see about possibly putting it on a 2010+ Ram 5500 Single cab. and selling the Ford, disclosing the issue, or using it as a trade in. The new Ram diesels are just as quiet as the ninja. Might cost a little more at the time, but would save in the long run.

    I donated $2. I would go with a new engine, whichever one is the current one being used in Ford's, since the 6.4 is known to have issues. I dunno about Utah, but I've never seen CNG at any gas station in Kentucky so you may have issues with refueling.
    Plus I saw a review of an F-150 where a company put a CNG tank in the bed of the truck inside of the tool box so that you have two tanks and can switch between gas and CNG and the reviewer didn't like it. It had less power with CNG.

    ya the 6.0 and the 6.4 is what ended the relationship between ford and Navistar (international).thats why ford started building their own diesel for the Fseries trucks.the dpf system is what kills the 6.4l with the high temp the exhaust has to get to clean the dpf it burns the engine out.

  • @HillbillyRednecking

    +RepoNut my opinion is the 6.4 powerstroke is worse than the 6.0 powerstroke, the new 6.7 will all deletes and a straight pipe seem to be working great! The new 6.7 powerstroke is a pretty nice engine, even cooler they reversed the flow of the intake and exhaust, now the intake manifold now attaches to the outside of the heads where the exhaust would normally exit and the exhaust manifold is now like and intake manifold, the exhaust exits to the inside of the heads where intakes would normally be attached, the idea is its a shorter distance to the turbo and less heat getting everywhere

    Sorry to hear about Shanda and the motor. I would not go with the v10, i use one at work and it has had a lot of problems and gets really bad mpg!

    i have to ask.. Been watching your channel for a while now.. really like your videos.. i noticed you idle your trucks a lot... have you ever thought of reducing your idletime? that will prolong engine life bigtime.. im not saying your wrong by doing so of course, its your equipment, i was just curious.. saves a ton on fuel too.. there is no need to idle the engine for the sake of the engine being diesel like some supertrucker pickup owners believe.. lol..
    i wasnt sure if you needed power for your compressor or something we cant see in the vids..
    thanks man
    keep posting!

    I curently have a 6.8 V10 in my F250, they are a great engine. I would highly recomend the V10 they have amazing power plus i get around 13 mpg which to me for a truck is not that bad. My main recomendation if you do go with the V10 is to get one of the newer ones 09 and up they fixed a couple problems that some of the older V10s had before that point. I am almost upto 500K so i can not complain to much.

      I have been shopping Triton V10's and looking into if they will bolt up to this transmission.

    Sucks that your engine has problems. My truck needs a clutch and new rear tires. Only 400 but I don't have a job. Hope you can get enough funds, I'm sure you can get it. Once I fix my debit I'll try to donate a couple bucks

    Matt the 6.4 CAN be rebuilt and bulletproofed to last another 300k, but i wouldn't go second hand route unless its had the head studs put in, good headgaskets and such, i would have a 6.7 dropped in, it should fit or you can have custom mounts made. But look more into rebuilding+bulletproofing

    • @RepoNut
      @RepoNut  10 лет назад

      All three of the best shops here in Utah have told me that rebuilding the 6.4 is not a cost effective solution because the cylinder walls are already to thin to be machined. I am not a mechanic but according to them the best option is to replace the motor. I am looking at all of my options and will make the best decision based on a combination of factors in the end. I plan to vlog the whole process so it will help others who have the same problems down the road and hopefully help them to make a better informed choice themselves.

      The only problem i see for you with doing that is if you buy another second hand motor and just run into the same problem again, stock 6.4's have a 1 in 5 of surviving for a lengthy period of time. I have experience working on the 6.0's and know a few people who came into a situation like this. Whatever you choose i hope you don't get the short end of the stick. Ford has produced some piss poor engines.

      Even if you can't donate directly getting the word out to people who don't watch the channel is just as helpful. Spreading the word cost nothing and in my opinion is more valuable in the long run. More viewers means growth and that is better than a one time monetary contribution. If you like my channel then tell everyone you talk to and if they like it then they will talk about it and eventually we will hit a tipping point and I will be able to create some really cool stuff for you all to see that will blow your minds and take this whole thing to a new level.

    I think Ford and International rushed getting the 6 Liter Diesel family out due to the government EPA regulations going into effect in 2006, I believe. The 6.0L many said was a terrible engine. The 6.4L was like you said, a engine rushed out to replace the 6.0L. The 6.7L Powerstroke might be the way to go, and may fit as is in your F550's chassis. I don't know how much more it'll cost to upgrade to it, but it might be an idea given how problematic the 6.4L Powerstroke is all around. The Triton V10 motor would be a nice gasoline alternative, but your MPG might get worse than with the diesel. A CNG engine is not really in use anywhere in the U.S, maybe some Transit Authorities for some of their buses, but those engines may not be as good of an option as they age due to costs, etc... Best bet would be a 6.7L Powerstroke, another 6.4L Powerstroke(which may eventually have the same issue) or a Triton V10 engine(V8 may not give you enough power for the F550).

      The thing about switching engines is that you have to change the transmission and the ECU at the very least.
      I worked at a ford dealer a few years ago and saw this on quite a few of these trucks. I can't imagine what kind of headache this is with all he is going through

    i think cng would be the best option, also you are lucky with the cng station near by (Flying J 1.77/gge) the only disadvantage would be the range (80-200 miles)

    i seen a set up in Dallas TX that would make your repo's a whole lot faster !!!! it go completely under the car or truck and picks up the whole vehicle and that would make it faster to pull out till you can get hooked right or have a roll back pick it up ! and don't say it would pop a wheelie cause it was a on a Isuzu and i know good a well those ford 550 or 5500 dodge have enough weight up from compared too the Isuzu!

    Do you get LPG over there like propane as a vehicle fuel. That is a good option. When that's fitted you can end up with a small power increase sometimes.
