well, stealth did activate his active search stuff right after 2min in... and you did hear what wolf said about such a thing (around 1:46min). it sounds maybe hard, but stealth did not play correctly in my opinion->if you are a shining point on the enemy radar right from the beginning, there is a great chance you loose the whole fight right at this point.
The TU was the biggest threat for the sub and fleet. After downing the TU, if you dropped the F4s to 200 feet, you could have taken down most of the Ka's without being missile locked.
You beat this very differently than I did. I killed the TU and then dropped the F-4s to the deck to stay below the horizon while picking off helos. Had Jacksonville spot with ESM mast and had the P-3 A-6s and all my ships sync fire Harpoons and then added the 4 from Jacksonville while the blob was flying over head. Killed the whole formation in one salvo.
I tend to prefer the earlier eras of naval combat, but geez, this game is impressively good looking. Whaching those launcher whip around to reload and back again to let loose is probably one of the coolest things to watch. Especially when they're just machine gunning missiles out.
Hey Wolfpack, I was bored so did some research and found that the USS Scott was sold to and recommissioned by the Republic Of China's Navy, and is still in service there, nobody asked, but there ya go lol
They were built for the Shah or Iran but hadn't been delivered prior to the revolution. Then they were known decisively as the "Ayatollah" class before they were brought into US service and named after WW2 admirals. Then they were called the "Dead Admirals".
The Tu-14 was an early short-legged twin-engined jet bomber originally developed for the same competition that gave us the Il-28 Beagle, and was used by Soviet Naval Aviation as a torpedo bomber in the 1950s. The Bear MPA is designated Tu-142.
By the way Wolfpack, you can dogleg torpedos by clicking the fire button and a spot on the map. Torpedos will then go out in the vector you clicked. You can continue to adjust where you want them to go by clicking on the map.
Extremely impressive (as well as cinematically entertaining) mission Wolf, I'd argue this might be your finest work featuring Sea Power!!! (Seriously, breaking out the choice beverage & popcorn to enjoy!) Absolutely love your commentary about making at least one episode of Sea Power into a Cold Waters Mission... Lol. Hand's down, Jacksonville is the Real MVP! A fine tribute to the lethality of a Los Angeles Class SSN. The mission may well be called "Strike on the Monster" but, I'd argue an equally fitting title might be "Run Shallow with Nerves of Steel"
Yeah the complete lack of any RECON on the Soviet side doesn't make much sense either. Any SAG with a Kirov is going to have at least 2 Bear D's assigned and continually be cycling to provide 24/7 AEW and Recon coverage , likely 4 aircraft in operation at any given time, 1 leaving, 1 relief and 2 on station... Soviet naval aviation existed to provide support to these ships, there is no way they'd leave them uncovered. Not to mention the AEW Helo's being the backup and probably at least 1-2 ASW Bear variants also assigned as well as at least 1 SSN in addition to the Charlie.. not a lot makes sense with the scenario design. The Soviets definitely would protect those assets and with AEW Bears, there is no chance of Air Launched harpoons being used before the SA-N-6's are fired (Orions could never realistically attack a large SAG). The US may or may not have had carrier coverage but id also expect that there maybe a few S3's providing at least some ASW support. The scenario design is terrible
"Only the guns are firing, I guess that makes sense since all of the missile tubes are...all back here." (Me) "Wait, then what about that square sil-" >missile launch Bruh this Udaloy, what fucking gigabrain designed this goddamn fortress?!
Speaking of the Kirov, if you visit the Battleship New Jersey channel on RUclips, they have a series of videos on proposals beginning in the 1970s to replace the aft turret with an angled flight deck, and replace roughly half the New Jersey’s port & starboard 5 inch guns with clusters of 16 cell VLS launchers with tomahawks & harpoons.
after engaging a quite a few times both Kirov and Udaloy i come to think they are a bit unbalance in terms of AA guns. Harpoons against those targets are useless. And on top of that no matter what target you assigned to the Harpoons they'll target whatever the fuck they want.... usually the bigger target
Unbalanced... lol this game aims to be a Simulation of the actual ships as they were IRL, Ideally the Devs should be aiming to make these ships as close to their real life versions as possible, not "Balancing" them. The Kirov class is the most heavily armed surface combatant made in the missile era. Hundreds or SAMS as well as a hefty compliment of supersonic anti-ship missiles.
So very pretty. Also glad to hear the AI will flatten you if you screw up. The game seems to have everything else handled but AI is very difficult problem in games like this.
Would you ever consider doing a shortcut key tutorial video? Just seeing you toggle between your ships like you did made me realize im still missing things. I only just learned about bouy pattern laying and then that you can do different sizes
The AI in this game is so bad at using AEW and RECON assets, not sure if they are even properly implemented in the game or if the scenario editors are just really bad at their jobs and not including these recon/aew assets when they should be being included. The Soviets did have AEW Helicopters and the Kirov almost certainly would have carried at least 1 and probably 2 AEW Helo's amongst the 3-4 it could carry (they could overload and have helo's on deck as well as in hangars) , So would Slava due to its missile ranges, The Udaloys probably would have specialized in carrying the ASW Helos and Soviet Naval Aviation definitely would always have the Tu-95 MR Bear D's covering such a valuable surface action group and seeking out any surface groups to provide OTH targeting. The AI just doesnt seem to use the assets properly even if they are available. Harpoon ANW and its spiritual successor Command just do a better job of this
Yeah AI is the key to this game being actually worth it, notwithstanding the great detail and graphics. These scenarios seem too unrealistic and set up for the Soviets (AI) to lose badly against pretty average players.
@bartynz8486 worth noting that these are player-designed mod scenarios designed to only be played from one side. The official missions are designed to be played from both, and much harder.
Watched Stealth do this and the Russians obliterated his ships.
ok
Feel like they are playing on different difficulties
Im pretty sure stealth does things wrong on purpose to make things more dramatic.
well, stealth did activate his active search stuff right after 2min in... and you did hear what wolf said about such a thing (around 1:46min).

@@NutkaseVP I am playing on Realistic
There are 2 types of naval vessels: Submarines... and Targets.
The TU was the biggest threat for the sub and fleet. After downing the TU, if you dropped the F4s to 200 feet, you could have taken down most of the Ka's without being missile locked.

The new no cavitaion button is a winner!
Udaloy's never go down without a fight! Seem to be the bane of Wolfpack. I wonder how tough a Sovremenny would be to take out.
This is a real tough mission, hats off to the mission author

As all submariners know, there are only two kinds of vessels. Submarines, and targets.
Impressive work Wolfpack! I thought once you lost CAP it was going to be an uphill climb but you handled it .
Well done Admiral!

F-4 in85? Who in the Pentagon sends the old stuff out against a Kirov-Group? The Navy seems to have received a few real blows if the Tomcats are out.
F-4 were still in use in The US Military till 1996 a played a big role in the Gulf War

@@martinpalmer6203Both sides are a little unrealistic in terms of their composition, but it’s a cool scenario
I love your presentation at a beghining of clips. Good very good job.
Virgin Kirov: *sinks after one Mk 48 torpedo impact*
Chad Kazbek: *survives Mk 48 and requires harpoons to put down*

Bruh this Udaloy, what fucking gigabrain designed this goddamn fortress?!
Who uploads a Kirov game at 2 am?
Wolfpack: oh boy, 2 am!
PS i know time zones are a thing.
Watch out for that tail gunner on the Tu-14
Seems that everyone underestimates that
They don’t underestimate it, they just forget lol
The Cold Waters soundtrack while you engage with a sub was a nice touch, lol.
This is a welcome break from my getting wrecked in Scramble: Battle of Britain. I'm still learning a lot.

I love the submarine videos
The Cold Waters soundtrack was a very nice touch. Great gameplay as usual... except flying jets at FL37 within 35 nm from a Kirov. 😅
So very pretty. Also glad to hear the AI will flatten you if you screw up. The game seems to have everything else handled but AI is very difficult problem in games like this.
Excellent episode looking forward to seeing the next one.
I love watching your videos, keep them up. The intro into your videos are awesome
I like the Battle stations midway reference
Great Work!
Sea power and uboat are my favorite series you do I can’t believe watching these videos is free
You could throw him a couple bucks ya know
I love the cold waters soundtrack!!!
Do the fantastic camera angles/shots require some sort of mod, or are they possible in the base game? This vid was amazing... thanks for posting it!
It can all be done in game! Cheers
Great video, after your F-4 hit that Helo you should have drop to 6000 ft. But it was a good show.
Nicely done 🙂
Very well played
You could use the OHP as a decoy
Would you ever consider doing a shortcut key tutorial video? Just seeing you toggle between your ships like you did made me realize im still missing things. I only just learned about bouy pattern laying and then that you can do different sizes
Ur soo good at making videos and great at naval games .you make the best cinematic movie like snd great gameplay commentary videos period
Classic Sea Power: American weapons miss, Soviet weapons don’t.
That was awesome!
I believe the Soviets suffered what we in the X-COM community call... A squad wipe.
Good stuff!
Where is the opening from?! I have such flashbacks to that music but cannot place it!
Sub Command :)
@ THATS WHAT IT IS!!! Thank you! Lol such a flash back to my old sub games like sub hunt and 688I.

such a long way for the Russians to travel just to attack little old Darwin 🤣
I love your stuff!
Soooo why did they put RBUs on the front if the SOP is to run away from torps?
Because their primary purpose is not to engage torpedoes.
Commenting before watdhing but stealth has been grtting smacked by this scenario and im curious how this goes
Can you do more war on the sea
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone pass this mission
В итоге совсем не про ракеты получилось.
Wow, I'm never here first, but I'm glad to see a new video!
Always nice to see a notification that you uploaded keep up the good work 💪
Like watching a 1980s CNN news special.
Nice mission but why doesnt AI lay down ASW? if they did in my opinion your sub never would have come close
I have seen this too many times but seriously the anti-air combat needs some adjustments.
Other than that... yeah this one is great!
The air to air is the main problem, so many rope-a-dope maneuvers that are no rope, all dope.
