First off, thanks for all the responses, you strugglers rock. Things are much better and my relationship with my kids has vastly improved. It's amazing what getting out of a toxic environment will do for a kid. Can't get those years back so we can only make the best out of the time we have left.

Yesterday, my best best friend, who was closer than my brother, passed away. I introduced him to Breserk in the early years of our friendship and he fell inlove with it during the first episode. If it was one of the many things we bonded over. I can't even watch an episode now without breaking down. I love you Donavan Castillo, you were the greatest friend a person could ever ask for.

I've been thinking about and praying for your soul
It almost feels pointless to share my experiences in a comment section this large, but in a way it’s nice to express my life to a public place people may or may not see. I have not lost anyone or suffered greatly, but I’m not where I want to be. I am surrounded by family and friends, but always feeling alone. I’m living in a place that I don’t want to live after a failed attempt of going somewhere else. Somewhere where I might not feel alone anymore, maybe somewhere where I’ll find that piece I’m missing. Though I’m not sure if my heart will find peace or whatever you wanna call it there, I know I have hope that I’ll find it, just as I have hope in everyone who struggles, no matter the weight they bare. If you ever read this and wonder to yourself if it’s possible to find that light at the end of your tunnel, if it’s possible to be where YOU want to be, then understand that as long as you have the hope, the faith, and especially the will to search for it, you will find it. And if you think you’re lacking any of those three, you don’t, afterall it’s what makes us human.

The song sounds more bittersweet than sad to me.
I just picture him walking to whatever he needs to do with his natural resting face. It does not need to be said what kind of storm is his head but he’s still going. I see a piss yellow and dark grey sky, feels like it’s 70 and windy. I avoid not listening to music because it just makes me remember. But this song does nothing but remind me of every scream, cry, or smile I had. Sometimes this song makes me run better or worse but I’m still running. To me that’s what this track is, just the act of still going with no clear enthusiasm or dread. We’re made to just go
My friend Adam introduced me to Berserk. We always watched the movies and the episodes. We were always so excited when the next chapters came out. Adam passed away in August of 2018. He was my best friend. I miss him everyday. This song holds special meaning to me now as it makes me think of Adam. Rest in peace my man.

@@JoelleCasanof He was taking Adderall prescribed to him to help him focus better at his job. After a year, it really turned on him and started making him lose his mind. He ended up quitting that medication cold turkey after an incident where he gave his car away to a total stranger and didn't remember doing it. Unfortunately you're supposed to ease off that drug slowly and because he did it so abruptly, it caused him to have hallucinations and hear voices in his head. He took his own life by stabbing himself in the heart 4 times. The doctors tried to save him but there was too much damage. That Adderall is terrible stuff and I can't believe some people actually put their kids on it. It rewires the brain in a very bad way. Even if Adam had eased off of it like he was supposed to I think it had caused permanent damage to his brain.

Hey so funny story:
I ran into this by complete accident and clicked because I thought the art in the thumbnail looked great. Listened a little bit, and then recognized the iconic part of the song. I started digging deeper and discovered that there was this manga called Berserk that had incredible artwork. I went on a wild trip through many moments of the manga and I was left bewildered at how good the manga was.
Two years later, I never would have guessed that Berserk would play an important part of my life, as it helped me develop good habits and become a better, stronger version of myself (not that I recommend making Guts' personality yours (absolutely not)). This video unlocked a new chapter in my life that I never knew I needed. Hopefully others discover this wonderful manga and enjoy it to the fullest. You picked the right thumbnail for this vid 😄

That’s a great story haha. I listened to this already knowing what Berserk is and then I heard that part from the memes and couldn’t stop laughing. Such a bloody dark anime/manga has this song I associate with stupid videos. I just bought the 1st Leatherback manga a few days ago. Haven’t read it yet.

It was also sometime during November that I've finished collecting all fourteen books, and I definitely think you'll enjoy reading the leatherbacks. Definitely start reading. As long as you can afford them.

My best friend introduced me to berserk and at the time I just casually read it, I got hooked after a while but before I could share my enthusiasm with my friend....he passed away before I share what I found great about berserk, now this theme just reminds me of how good a friend he was as well as how I will miss him

@@BiggusDckuss imagine than they defeated the god hand, and griffin died but not before realizing than his "god game" was a dumb thing, he reveals against "their" partners, they used it all the time, he was only a puppeter of something even bigger than he could imagine, he realized than what he did is senseless, but not before doing a last goodbye to guts, calling him a bastard than never give up, and with that, guts defied once more the causality, the curse is no more with him and caska, she is *happy* and with that guts saying "Finally, peace" and the skull knight banishes one last time to say him "you did it, you defied the imposible, you escaped from the destiny one last time", thats what i think, thats sound the perfect moment to left the manga and saying "here i left".

@@jogatinas12 Miura might have told how he wanted the story to end and I think he trained his assistant enough that they can continue in his footsteps, I just hate that berserk's potential will be wasted by miura's death, it will be ironic that he always teach us to move on forward and struggle even if something is changed forever then some readers doesn't want the manga to continue because something is changed forever.

I know Berserk and guts was Kentaro’s creation but hearing Akira Toroyama passed away made me think of this song I’m in a weird camp for toriyama work where I’ve not seen a lot of Dragon ball but I really like the Dragon Warrior/Quest franchise and Mr. Toriyama was a big influence in the art direction for that franchise iirc he’s worked on that franchise since inception. This music, those feelings while reading berserk is one of the beautiful moments of my life .
My grandfather passed away 2 months ago. I was really close with him it devastated me to see him go right before my eyes, but I was there with him. I held his hand, and I said goodbye to him it was the hardiest thing I had to face in my life this year, and this song reminds me that I have lost a role model in my life but my grandfather would want me go on and enjoy life and that's exactly what I'm going to do

When my poor winston died,he was my dog, i was devestated we had him in the family for 16 years and then my dad decided to put him down. That was two months ago and i still cant shake it. I don't know if it fits with your discussion, but I'd like to share my thoughts here.
I'm one of those (few) people who loved Griffith in the Golden Age. I mean every berserk fan love him as a fiction al character because he is very well written but they hate him as person.
I'm one of those who loved him in GA both as char and person. He really seemed like Alexander the Great. He was good, cared about his man. He had leadership and he was always in frontline in battles. I really felt like one of the band of the hawks, who admired him and saw him as a leader and a potential good King. You know, the "He is the Right one" thing. And seeing Guts so happy was beautiful as it was seeing how he and Griffith liked each other
When they tortured him I was so angry, like Guts and the rest of the band of the Hawk. There was no point or returning. Griffith was lost, he couldn't even speak. I was so angry.
Then the Eclipse happened. I was speechless. I was so... I don't know. A mix between shocked and... disappointed.
I can't even imagine what Griffith has passed through after one year being tortured and I think nobody here can, but man...
After that I obv have nevermore loved him as person, but I'm like Rickert. I can't hate him. I just can't.
At best I can punch him or slap him like Rickert.
I know I'm in minor minor minor part of the community, but in case Griffith will die one day, I won't be happy, I will just be sad and melanconic, because I will think at how things could be better if griffith didn't end up being tortured.
My admiration and love for Guts remained the same of course, he is my fav char of the story and I'm happy he's now with someone else once again. And I'm happy he's not in the revenge thing anymore, so that he can rest and he can get some peace within himself.
Probably I'm just stupid, but do you think there will be a way Griffith could redeem himself? I'm not saying if Guts and Griffith will become again friends, just that Griffith stop being evil and help Guts in some way. I don't know. I'm hoping that the Moonlight boy is a kind of the rapresentation of "the good part of Griffith".

I can’t bring myself to hate him but I also definitely can’t condone what he did, i don’t think he can really redeem himself either, but he’s definitely a very interesting and amazing character

On november 28th i lost my mother. i remember feeling lost, confused, absolutely just shaken by the news. Everyday after that all i wanted to do was just stop. Stop moving, stop caring, stop everything....but i just kept going...and it hurt so fucking badly, there was more times than i can count that i broke down and shut myself away from everything. though eventually i realized as i listened to this my mother would want me to keep going no matter if she was gone...least i could do right?

My brother showed me berserk almost a year before he died I was 12 and I bought him the whole (most) manga for his 18 birthday and for graduating but his girlfriend broke up with him and he unfortunately fell victim to suicide and when ever someone mentions berserk I look at my bookcase and cry inside, because i knew he would’ve loved to have it, plus 50% of my wife’s childhood was what happened to Casca, I know dark but when I listen to this song it also reminds me i have to make sure everyday of her life she is shown her value and that she is gold, the same thing happened to me as a kid and I well can never forgive the person, and she forgave everyone who did what they did to her so when I hear this song I think “can my life be that bad” “how can anyone come over such pain”, but yk it’s a cruel world might as well move on in life and be happy no reason to stay sad ig what I mean to say “it is what it is and I can’t change the past, "so need be no point in crying”

Everytime I listen to Guts theme I always think of many things but one of those things is the relationship I have with my best friend. I met him in Highschool and we instantly connected due to us sharing a passion for music and playing guitar. We even had a little metal band in Highschool that unfortunately ended cuz of Covid. I still talk to him and hang out with him to this day and I absolutely love him like a brother.

I feel this song transmits exactly what Guts feels: excruciating pain, fatigue beyond description, unimaginable anger, huge emotional suffering... but also a godlike amount of inner strenght to go on, filled by a small spark of hope and fleeting slivers of nostalgia flying through his few old good memories...

I discovered Berserk through the original 97 anime as a kid at my local Blockbuster. I quickly identified with Guts, being picked on and emotionally abused a lot during my childhood. This song always reminded me that there was rest and safety in solitude and around people who understood me, my friends,moreso than my family. It's a beautiful anime and manga, my favorite.

for some reason this theme always remind me of Zelda Ocarina of Time's title theme, there is just something that gives me goosebumps when hearing this. Thinking about Guts and Link both having to continue forward with their journey even if they are the loneliest men in their respective universe, a journey about finding themselves in this dark world. Wierdly enough, I find this theme really comforting, because if some guys could get how loneliness is sometimes, it's these two.

I've always found this song funny. Like, Guts is the angriest person i've ever seen anywhere. His rage is literally what makes him keep going, and what fuels him in every fight. But, even then, his theme is incredibly sad, without a single drop of wrath.
This is why I think this fits guts perfectly. This shows how deep he is, and how he is not just rage, but also a lot of pain, love, and maybe, a bit of hope.

Rage is often a very negatively associated emotion, however in the face of absolute tyranny and adversity, it is rage that sustains us and allows us to find ourselves against the constant onslaught of negativity. It is a purifying emotion to cut through the darkness and should be used that way. Guts in my opinion is the literal incarnation of struggle and rage and profoundly the sword. But it is obvious that Guts desires nothing more than peace despite having such capable rage. He is a dangerous man striving to control of his powerful emotions. He is the human man archetype. A beautiful creation by a beautiful mind.

My favorite part of Berserk is when Griffith is faced with the reality that his dream is over and his body is broken beyond repair. He accepts it, fondly remembers the journey he and his friends had, and dies peacefully without any regrets. That was really a beautiful moment. In another reality I could have seen the story going in a very different, and very dark path.
Reading manga in the forest while listening to this masterpiece is another kind of bliss.

I wish i had found this manga/anime a little earlier than 29 years old but i could not have asked for a better time. This whole story has changed me in a way that i truly think saved my life. Life has been beating me down since i was a kid and there were so many times that i wanted to just give up and stop the struggle. I recently got into that same mind set and felt like my world was falling down around me and bam, stumbled across the 1997 version and binged it to 2 days. Now im reading the manga and im a huge fan. I cant imagine what Kentaro Miura meant for all you guys when he was alive, let alone how much he means now thats he gone, especially not knowing he passed until after you deep dived his work like me. RIP Kentaro Miura, thanks for giving me hope.

I can relate I lost my mother and father a year apart in 2021 and in 2012 I love several uncles and aunts.. fell into a deep depression I'm still working through ...no hope in sight at the moment but oddly to know that there are others out there with some of the same stories give me hope that I will survive, we will.. we don't know each other but please stay strong and live as our parents once taught us.
